I've already beaten my fossil times in my Model 3 on 400 mile trips because it's just so much easier on Autopilot, I don't need the same rest time during the trip. I don't need a long lunch or dinner because driving isn't a chore now. Car recharges while I do other stuff, so breaks can be enjoyed, no more standing in the cold and rain pumping gas.

@@Astke "Joe Mode" quiets the notifications to a low level. I have FSD, which does auto lane changes, traffic light and speed limit recognition, auto stop, start, etc. Luxury is freedom from hassle. I fully expect FSD to be improved and more capable going into the future, which it already has in the year I've owned it. This is something I don't trust other companies to do. Happy you love your car, but I don't wish for anyone to "validate" my purchase and i don't criticize anybody's taste.

The number of stops definitely makes a difference. I did 1,000 km in the 2020 Chevy Bolt EV in under 12 hours with only 4 stops, but better spacing on the chargers could have cut that down to about 11:30. I can't wait to see the Lucid Air do this challenge; it would likely only require one stop for about 9 hours of driving! O_0

I think you should do this Challenge with a Model 3 AWD with 18 inch Aero or even a RWD with the big Pack. I live in Germany, and I have done the "1000km Challenge" by myself, but I drove from Kopenhagen to Stuttgart which Is Roughly 1250km.' I did it in exactly 12 hours. so faster than 100km/h avg Speed but in Germany I can also drive 170km/h or 190 km/h if I notice that I would arrive at the next Charger with to much Charge. I think in optimal Conditions the Model 3 can do the 1000km Challenge in 9h, especially now with V3 Supercharger.

Tesla doesn't want to reveal battery capacity anymore, probably because they're also trying to DRM usable battery capacity in case you want to "upgrade" the capacity by paying extra. Tesla kinda worries me now with how they're software locking off features. I just hope the automotive industry as a whole doesn't copy this aspect from Tesla, like how they've copied the central infotainment screen.

@@vaska00762 That's actually common practice. It is cheaper to produce a standard configuration and restrict the features for different models. The ability to upgrade the capacity when you need it, is a good thing in my opinion.

Mine also doesn't have lane change, I don't find it too annoying to disengage by using turn signal + steering a bit, and it keeps TACC on. Then just engage autopilot again

Model S long range plus should do it with initial full charge and one stop (80%) at 120kph - less than 9 hours - if you can sit for 5 hours. Its why I like the Model 3 SR+ - 2 hours driving and a 25 min break.

I think you should do this challenge in Germany for finding the most efficient speed/consumption ratio. Here in France I used to drive at 137km/h with my old S85 and my average speed with charge stops is not far from 100km/h.

This would help to explain the observed better performance of the plaid battery, and the quiet upgrades to the chargers. Elon wants to announce what they have already done, not what they intend. This is Tesla, not Nicola... LOL Exciting time to be alive !

I'm sorry but I don't understand how the first part of the trip going from 100% to 6% with 600km of range and you have done only 400km driving at 110km/h. My 2015 MS 70D has 340km range and at 110km/h I can do at least 280km with something left. Was it all uphill ?

Do I understand that correctly that when you don't have the "better" autopilot, the auto disengages the automatic cruise control upon lane change? If so, then it is totally unusable.

It's called FSD. And without that option, when you want to change lanes, autosteer disengages. But ACC still remains on. Small correction there.

@@bjornnyland Ah thanks, I was worried about the ACC disengaging too, which (on a motorway) would make it useless. I would expect the autosteer to re-engage once I'm back in a lane, but this is just a minor annoyance for me personally (I'm still not sure if the full "Autopilot" with all of its flaws is worth roughly the 7500 €).

Petr Lohnický I’m very confident Tesla will have complete FSD within the next year or two and people usually keep a car for at least 3 years! FSD stays with the car so if anything, as the price increases, the resale value of your Tesla will also increase! I wouldn’t be surprised if the next price increase is more than just $1k USD, I’m betting it’ll be $10k in a few months vs 8k now!

Bjørn Nyland they’re lighter, but I don’t know if I’d say “cooler”. I’ll take range over an imperceptible reduction in weight. On a car that’s as heavy as the Model S with the super floaty air suspension you’ll never notice a difference in ride quality, but you’ll notice a difference in your range. To me those 19” wheels looked too small on the S, whereas the standard wheels with their covers aren’t the best looking thing but at least they’re aero and you don’t have to pay for a second set of wheels!

To me all teslas look ugly just like citroen - I am not trying to be rude but that's what I feel when I see one on the road cheap and ugly car - why they could not make something what looks more agresive - just look at citroen c5 models that's what I associate tesla with same lines in design actually any citroen :) Just my opinion - I tryed to like this so many times that I got tiered - look at porche electric car - it's stunnning and costs almost the same - why everyone like this garbage just give me one good thing about it, where is the catch that so many are getting caught on - and I am not talking about speed as these are electric motors not petrol engines as soon other makes will alos have electric cars and I would go with anything but not this one - just trying hard to understand people who like these cars :)

I am Not impressed i did 1700km in 24h with an Prefacelift 2015 S70D from Vienna to Götheburg over Hamburg and Dk without Ferry. Even had a coffee at Tesla Hamburg while they fixed Breakfluid. The car had over 200tkm on the odometer. Overall we got an average of 175Wh/km on our 8.500km Europe Roadtrip. Whats up with Tesla that the flagship is worst than the entry Level? And still selling a 8 year old plattform Hope this Will change Next week.

Bjørn Nyland actually i drove faster on my way to Götheburg. I Used Autopilot with 123km/h which lead to charging every 250km and 220Wh/km reaching the Next supercharger with 5-10% charging only to 60-70% so i can reach the Next. Overall the 8500km of Course were slower in sweden and norway as well as Dk and Holland you couldn’t drive as fast as in Germany. If you want i can send you the pictures taken from this 24h drive via email. Your 1000km challenge was faster but that was Not my Point actually i was hoping the Raven will Support 250kW Peak and the consumption was ~10% loser than before. From Model S the ~2015 70D were the most efficient in my experience compared to S85, P85, P85D
