Ben - almost all of your acceleration tests were on a curve. That's going to eat into your acceleration, because instead of putting 100% of the tire's traction budget towards making you go faster, some of that budget had to be spent to change your direction, and the amount necessary to turn increases as you accelerate. There's a reason why quarter mile strips are not on corners.

How many real world miles do you get on your older Model S?

Hmm, not sure about resolution

Do you have to turn on Ludicrous mode to get the 2.4s 0-60?
@SoCalMikey5 жыл бұрын
Ely Liu Ludicrous Plus, wait for 30-45 minutes until it says ready and then use launch control.

I was thinking the same ludicrous turned on for that 2.4

Dion Galbreath Ludicrous Plus, Launch Mode and pretty much a full charge on a drag strip.

i don't understand your comment that charging at 150kw has been the charge rate *forever*. it was only last year they upgraded from 120kw to 150kw. and your charge was 155kw which is a 30% improvement over prior max charge rate...

Our country lanes in UK are often 60mph. Far too fast quite often. Should probably be 40mph.

Ben, I think there might be a bit of an inaccuracy in your Dragy reporting. That 2.76 time is likely including the 1' rollout. Tesla reports it's times of the Model S by excluding the first foot of rollout. In the Dragy app itself you should be able to see the 1 foot rollout time as well on the performance report at the bottom, which should be about 1 to 2 tenths lower than the time you reported - so closer to 2.4 or 2.5 and more in line with Tesla's reporting. Also I'm guessing you didn't use the hidden launch mode as you were just on a random ramp on the highway, which gives it extra power and should allow it to hit close to the 2.4 time.

I agree that Model S is still the best-looking, inside and out!

And if you want range and don't need to go 0-60 in less than 3 seconds you can get a non-performance Model S long range and go 0-60 in 3.7 seconds and save about $20k and get about 373 rated miles of range.
@BenSullinsOfficial5 жыл бұрын
I would buy that one over this, but really a used 100D is probably the best overall value
@davidhunternyc14 жыл бұрын
Have there been any updates to support 0 - 60 in 2.4 seconds? Also, I want the white pleather on the dash. It's upsetting that Tesla took this feature out. The dash now looks dark and ordinary.
@jaredlove43794 жыл бұрын
Doesn't it have to be in Ludicrous Mode in order to achieve 0-60 in the 2.4 seconds?

Should you buy the model X or the Model S if you don’t care about the number of seats?

Did you ever check out the full self driving preview?
@pjdambra4 жыл бұрын
To get the full power to the 2.4 you need to prep the battery in Ludacris Mode. Just stopping on a ramp and flooring it won't get the full power..
@trisailor33185 жыл бұрын
I love my Model S. But battery capacity and range are oversold. Note that the range was only 69% of the "rated", advertised range. 235 miles instead of 330 miles is significantly less. While you may be able to do somewhat better, you may not. At 6 months my car showed a full charge range of brand new. But in fact had a 14% loss in battery capacity (and 30% less range) and Tesla said all was "normal". So factor that in as well. If you are buying a used Tesla, the full charge rated range may conceal rather than reveal battery degradation.
@hoffmantnt5 жыл бұрын
Dragy does not exclude the 1-foot rollout. A 1 ft rollout is the standard in the U.S. for 0-60 performance specs. All U.S. publications use this unless they specify otherwise. VBOX will provide the 0-60 time excluding the 1-foot rollout.

There a supercharger v3 that i have charged at Fairfield, CT. Theres another one at Tennessee. Plus publicly the have one In the UK and some in trans Canada.
@vawlkus5 жыл бұрын
pretty much all of the SCs in the Prarie provinces (Alberta, Manitoba and Saskatchewan) are all V3's, however, most are having teething troubles. I don't think we've gotten a sustained charging rate much above 125 kw thus far, and many are struggling to get to 70 kw. This is all third hand info (I'm on the East Coast), so take it with a grain of salt.

I also did not get the full V3 charging speed in my Model 3 at the LINQ supercharger recently. In fact, it was SLOWER than normal. I was getting like 25kw? Granted, it was cold (in the 40s), the car wasn't warmed up, and my battery wasn't super low (~70%).

Model 3 Performance hands-down over this ... not even a question. If you know your Teslas really well, including the weird issues like the yellowing screen in the S/X, you would agree, too.

@tonyrusi19785 жыл бұрын
Thank you for reporting the real numbers on a Tesla. What is the real range, charge time, and cost per month? These are things consumers need to know for a fact, and hype is very counterproductive for Tesla's sustainability over the long term. And when you say a V3 charger network does NOT really exist yet, I find these facts very sobering! I would want to drive my Tesla from Seattle to Yellowstone. I would want to power my trailer with it. I can't wait 2 or 3 years for an oversized Cybertruck, although I enjoy the notion of having a vehicle designed to operate on the surface of Mars. I need a vehicle now, and I am tired of being lied to about "sustainable transportation".

Ben your videos are great; keeps me up to speed with my Tesla. You didn't mention it but did the web browser work on this model S because my 2016's web browser is useless at dial up speeds or worse. It used to work and Tesla is unable or unwilling to fix it.

Sentry Mode and the dash-cam only record video on USB if you have HW2.5 or later. You can turn on Sentry Mode with HW2.0 cars in order to use the alarm, but you won’t get any video. Remember that guys.

3:28 the question needs to be asked, "Why is it only at 155 kWh charging speed, while the 3 has gone up to 250 kWh?
@francoischarbonneau94474 жыл бұрын
I think I have the answer to my own question: It's the batteries, 18650 they can't handle the charge, they need the 2450 to do that quick charge like the M3. But battery day is coming and who knows, these old style batteries might end up in the trash bin because the new tech will blow it away.
