While that’s true most “races” are light to light even if a car is fast top end more real life scenarios take place with traffic and not miles long empty airplane tracks in order to hit top speeds. this is why Tesla’s are impressive in real world environments for the price it spanks many more expensive models.

@@markplott4820 I'll take the Aston over the Tesla, I don't like having my rear bumper/steering wheel/roof panel fall off while I'm driving and if I wanted to play Mario Cart I'd stay home. The DBS is so much more expensive than the Model S because of the bespoke ordering options; every inch of the car is configured to the owners options and each one is unique inside and out. There are more color options for the DBS's brake calipers than for the entire Model S, and don't get me started on the level of customization for the interior leather and materials. Teslas are treated like cookie cutter appliances by the owners, buying an Aston new is an experience in itself.

The Taycan has 4 but not only that those seats are so small. It's ok if you got kids that are 10 years old but it's practicality is much less than a full size sedan

The current Tesla Raven Model S in Ludicrous Plus (preheated) mode, with Cheetah stance engaged, uses about 2% of the battery's charge in a 1/4 mile race. I would guess that the Aston Martin uses a bit more than 2% of it's gas tank in a 1/4 mile drag race.

Braking tests just by pure stopping power is illogical, the easiest way to increase braking power is to lock the differential more so you can improve traction which allows you to increase the braking pressure to an extent without the wheels locking up. Downside is that locking the diff will increase understeer when braking. harder braking can reduce overall stability and can make the car unstable because all the weight goes into the front making the rear light if the suspension is soft I wish when they do braking tests, they should also include how stable it is and how well the car can turn when braking

Okay, so where does one start. How about at the end "I will give it to you on a roller".... NO! The Telsa won, how can you give it to the other team? I know if there was 20 more yards, (we call those metres in most of the world)! LOL Then you should have redone the test with 20 more yards! When we are objective and nonemotional, simply looking at the results and specs, the Model S Performance is head and shoulders above the Aston Martin. With the price and cost of maintenance alone, the Model S wipes the floor with ALL other vehicles in the world, including other EVs. For the performance, of course, the Telsa is going to win. Now the comment about running out of torque at high speed. NO! The Tesla has immediate torque at ALL ranges and it has all its torque throughout its operating range, which of course is why it kicks the ICE car in the ass. Now having said all of that, I enjoyed the video, well done! Cheers

torque is "immediate" but it does go down with speed like with any ev. even the power goes down which is why taycan has two speeds, meaning that torque goes down faster than rpm are going up. it's not really an issue, just a fundamental characteristic of ev vs ice. ice builds power with roms, evs reach max power at low roms and max torque at zero rpm, everything goes downhill from there, thua the shorter the (drag) race, the more it favors ev's. AWD vs rwd makes it even biased (like top speed is biased towards ICE). when manufacturers figure out how to make smaller/lighter batteries or battery/supercapacitor hybrid without reducing power output (like lotus evija) ice won't even have the weight advantage so it's GAME OVER for ICE sports car regarding performance. ice will be only vintage or for endurance racing like 24h race or cannonball with fuel energy density and quicker refill advantage that will be very hard for batteries to beat even in a few decades

Rory got some terrible launches here + the DBS Superleggera Volante is slower than the coupe. Compared to the Model S Performance, the DBS Coupe in the real world is close to 1.5 seconds slower to 60 mph, about 1 second slower to 100 mph but is marginally quicker from 0-125 mph and close to 4 seconds faster from 0-150 mph. The Tesla destroys the DBS in the 1/4 mile but the 1/2 mile would be very close indeed and a standing mile would be an easy victory for the DBS. I suspect the DBS would overtake a Model S Performance between 140-145 mph in a drag race. The DBS destroys the Tesla in a long rolling race. A DBS would likely overtake your Tesla Model 3 Performance at about 120. Your car would be slightly faster over the 1/4 mile but the DBS would conclusively win over the 1/2 mile.

It's not. It does struggle off the line because of the traction but did you see that rolling race? 😂 It was no distance at all. If you want to see how fast a DBS is, check out Carwow where it races a Ferrari GTC4 and a McLaren Mercedes SLR, it leaves them both from 50mph easily. Also, you may of seen a Top Gear drag race between a AMG GTR and a DBS. It was a pre production DBS hence it lost. There is an Arabic channel who raced them both and the DBS won't quite comfortably

Dbs is not slow they don’t launch good cause the car is ridiculously powerful and rear wheel drive so it’s really hard to get a 0-60 even though Aston doesn’t give a f about the 0-60 it’s mostly wins on rolling races

In all fairness all those drag race should be done against a Tesla roadster space X package. I'm talking about the model with cold air thrusters. Then you ll realise that very soon petrol engine cars would just be a thing of the past. I'm talking 0-60 in less than 1sec. The only limitation will be what g's your body can handle.

And a number of scientific reasons why you probably could thrash the tesla a lot more (recharging aside of course)... But there is no proof because thrashing 250k Aston isn't normal behaviour... So there is no matching metric. I know which way I would bet on this though. And my money would be on the *vastly* simpler system.

@@moa-wg3bo That is a narrow view. The Tesla Plaid prototype ran back to back Nurburgring times of 7:13, which is quicker than the Ferrari 488 and Porsche Turbo S. Would you call those cars Musclecars?

@@moa-wg3bo Actually the Tesla brakes and suspension are very good. But people forget when the Model S accelerates like a supercar, that it is a 5-seat, 4-door, and weighs nearly 5,000lbs. So compared to an M8 or RS6 (which I also wouldn't call Musclecars), the current Model S is very competitive. And the much faster and better handling 2021 Plaid model will set a new standard of performance. Which will be quicker than ALL gas powered cars, and handle and brake like a supercar. For more affordable racers, the $55K Model 3 Performance is very good on the track, especially with the track package. And it will probably get the 4680 battery, frame and chassis updates later this year as well.

@@moa-wg3bo This really comes down to personal tastes. I would pick a C63S wagon over any SUV, and the V8TT does sound great, but personally I'd choose a fast sports coupe or convertible first. The C63S shares the Tesla Model S sleeper/supercar vibe, but despite the Tesla's weight disadvantage I'd bet that even the current Model S Raven Performance would beat a C63S wagon on most racetracks. The Model 3 Performance is a better sweet spot for all around performance and value. I have to wonder if you have ever driven one on a twisty road before? The Alfaholics restomod does look cool and fun! A friend of mine in college had a classic Alfa Romeo GTA, and it was great fun to drive. I can't imagine that car upgraded with 240HP, but I also can't imagine spending $260K on one either. I have a modified '59 Karman Ghia convertible, and it is also fun, even though it only has 140HP. But it's a vastly different experience from my 660HP Dodge Viper. My neighbor's Model S Performance (Raven) is simply amazing, but in a different way from all of my cars. Overhyped (like Musclecar) is a poor choice of words, because if the experience of driving a Tesla matches what you prefer in performance cars, then it's a great fit! Even though it may not be everyone's first choice...like the C63S Wagon.

But my next new car is going to be an EV. I have pre-ordered an Aptera, which is kind of like a 3 wheeled (AWD) EV Lotus Elise. It weighs 820kg, and accelerates like the Tesla Model 3 Performance (0-60 in 3.5 sec), yet it gets it's power mostly from on-board solar panels when it is left parked in the sun.

nah, there are over 20 EVs coming out this year from Audi, Porsche etc... some will match or better the Tesla without having the build quality of a Dacia Sandero...instant torque is a party trick.

I seriously doubt people would consider whether to buy an Aston Martin or a tesla. If you have a quarter of a million pounds and you're thinking of buying an Aston, you're not going to think "no, I'd rather drive a 4 door saloon car than a 2 door grand tourer"

i think sports cars should avoid going for fat big engines and stick with light weight chassis and engine combos. It used to be ok if your new supercar weighed 100kg more than the last as long as it had a decent jump in power to justify the car with additional speed. Once these "supercars" become heavy and unengaging, then what's the point of them anymore when the new batch of electric saloons will beat most in a drag race, and the electric supercars in the future will murder them outright? Oh but the electric cars wont be as fast on track you say. Yeah, those supercars won't do well against real track/race cars anyways. Most supercars can't do more than 3 consecutive laps without needing a cooldown anyways.
