But the other cars can perform on low fuel and the Taycan is also just as quick with lower battery power. None of the other cars would be afforded the luxury of running at their small optimal window. If you want Tesla to win then they need to up their game and make the Model S fast in all conditions and not just in a small optimal window of a full, warm battery and one run a day. The other cars here can do it, why can't the Tesla?

@@jackahorey2354 If you want to really know which car performs the best, you’ll put the best tires, remove all unnecessary weight, have an almost empty fuel tank on an ICE and a full battery on an EV, and use the launch control systems, if any. Not doing so, or choosing to do it on some cars and not on others is fudging results, and not having integrity. Reacting the way they did just prooves them being biased, instead of owning their mistakes. At this point, no one believes it was a mistake because of their reaction of bluring out the low battery, and copyright striking other channel commenting on that.

William Arrington ever had a remote control car back in the day? If the remote or the car was low on battery you could clearly tell by the speed of the car. I'm guessing it's the same concept. Also with phones, there's no physical movement so there's no clear reference to speed. I'm sure it slows down, but the computations on a modern phone are so incredibly quick that even when they slow down they're still fast enough for us to not notice a difference. Anyways, Autotrader should've been more transparent.

I don't get why anyone has any issue with this video. It doesn't matter whether the Tesla wins, the fact it's even included in this comparison is a huge win for Tesla given it's a family car that's something like a sixth of the price of the winner. It's a compliment to Tesla from AT that they included it the comparison (and mentioned it's their car of the year), not an insult that it didn't win. Let's get real, this is not a scientific study, it's not even held up as a scientific study, it's a bunch of enthusiasts messing about - they even specify the Huracan won *this* race on *this* day. There's more than enough qualifiers from AT, and they shouldn't even need to give *any* given it would be ludicrous to take such a casual video as gospel. Hint, youtube is not a peer reviewed journal. And even if we wanted to get robust about it - a scientific study would have to do comparisons at different fuel / charge loads because (a) it affects the ICE and EV in the opposite sense, and (b) real world use means not everyone is always driving with a full tank and/or on full charge. But they didn't do this, because it's just a fun casual video. Complaining about this video is saying a whole lot more about the complainer than it is about the makers of the video.

The Lambo may gain 0.1 sec in the 1/4mi with less gas in the tank, but the Tesla could be a full second or more slower with low charge and not being launched properly. It was above 75% charged yeah? 😆 I don’t think many “Tesla Fanboys” will call BS when you actually show it’s charge is above the ~30% was it last time? I know you say that was at the end of the day. But plenty journalists have been getting it wrong in the past. To be fair this is a Taycan 4s in this race which is actually slower than model 3 performance. But the Taycan turbo s are about .1 sec faster than model s in a quarter-mile race on paper.

With out launch control it won’t fair well, launch control is everything especially in a 1/4 mile, just no time to recover , done a few V Max events in the U.K. in my 600 LT, the guy in the 540c should have been in the top 3 😩

@@snacking5908 - The DBS started and then stopped and then started again. With a competent driver, it'd have done far better but would have still been significantly off the pace. The coupe is an 11 second 1/4 mile car which doesn't really tell the full story of how fast it is. The DBS is an autobahn car, not a drag car like the Tesla, Taycan or Huracan. It struggles to do 0-60 mph in much under 4 seconds due traction issues as a result of all the torque. However, above 60 mph the DBS is utterly brutal. It does 0-125 mph in 10 seconds, 0-150 mph in 15.45 seconds and 0-186 mph in 25.1 seconds. It'd do far better in a 1/2 mile or a standing mile race.

While the "paid by big oil" argument is nonsense of course, you made an editing mistake in the Lambo vs Model S video and you handled it, let's say, poorly. Be professional about it and show some more transparency when doing these tests. If you want to make a point that the Tesla Model S performs much less at lower state of charge, than that is a fair point. Porsche handles this better it would appear, but again, be transparent about it. To the Tesla fan bois I'd like to say: "Don't attribute to malice what can adequately be explained by incompetence."
