The wipers on my Model 3 are driving me crazy. Firstly they don't start and then they don't stop. In winter on wet roads, they wipe so long that the windscreen is completely smeared again. So turn off the autopilot and automatic windscreen wipers, spray, wait until the screen is dry. Then you can switch on the autopilot again.

It is not wiping the windscreen because of aerodynamics. In our Model Y the water spray from other cars land on the bottom "two thirds" of the windscreen. The sensor is located at the top of the windscreen where it does not get as wet. Bad design. Phantom breaking occurs when there is a crossing road, either a bridge above you or underpassage as in this video. I guess it picks up the speedlimit of that crossing road.

The BMW i3 had similar behaviour in late head-up sun shine: the optical speed distance control switches off. We had it once when just buying the i3, which has quite high regenerative braking. At 100 km/h with a truck behind you, this is quite a shocking expericience!! Next to the missing radar, the missing round steering wheel, the absence stalks and of info on the left of the driver display makes me stay very happy with my current 2017-MY Model X. No need to upgrade, just keep updating...

it's insane how much worse the EQS is in the winter, I mean we knew it had no heatpump, and got beaten by a model 3 lr in some winter testing before, but compared to the EQS the numbers are pretty bad, and this difference is likely even worse when we have negative temperatures.

Bjørn, not incorrect, as it is stated in the manual (search for Plaid in the Model S manual): Insane or Plaid strives to keep the Battery within an optimal temperature range. In addition to heating the Battery, these settings also cool the battery when necessary (for example, while driving at high speeds, during rapid acceleration, driving for long periods, etc.). What that actually means in terms of temps, is not stated.

@@adrianguggisberg3656 haha wtf. Twice: "double in degree or quantity." 11:02 it shows 6c. Twice that is 12c. For the comments about radar removal, I think the slow downs for poor visibility should have been happening with radar too really. Tesla's implementation of radar didn't see stationary vehicles, and it's not possible for it to see road debris, pedestrians, etc. If vision is required anyway to drive, then I feel like the radar wasn't providing much.

So, the question is: How can you sleep in it, knowing that you can only fold the 2 seats in the 3rd row, and not the ones in the middle row? I wish that they could make a Model X Plain with 5 seats only, so that we can sleep and camp in it.

Putting narrow tyres on wider rims is a standard tuning trick. The stiffer sidewall of the streached tyres improves cornering by something like 15 mph 24KMh. Although the std way to do it is to stick to normal width tyres and just put wider rims on a car. Perhaps this was not possible?
@GoldenCroc
@GoldenCroc Жыл бұрын
You dont want too wide tires in the snow (original size is pretty wide), this is likely why they put more narrow ones on. Secondly, I think you might have been sold too heavily on the benefits of streching tires...That way of doing it has many drawbacks, thats why they are not used on street cars from factory. For almost everyone who does it while street driving, its for the looks and nothing else. Also, saying they improve the cornering with 15mph is not really correct, it might improve it some, or it might make it worse. No way is 15mph anywhere close to an average improvment, or maybe even best case.

@@Pecky138 Because this car can go faster than 50kph. I was driving a tank with such steering, but it's steering was hydraulic, ratio and weight were variable depending on speed, and it could only do 75kph. However, this couldn't be done in a car. Therefore weight would have to be extremely heavy at higher speed. Even so, the car would require a level of alertness and concentration that can't be asked of a driver outside professional racing. No, there's a much simpler solution fot this problem: steering column stalks and a round steering wheel.
@Tanax13
@Tanax13 Жыл бұрын
I fail to see how that would improve it? When you're driving in a roundabout, you usually drive slow - so you would need to turn the yoke more to turn that much. The blinker buttons would be in different positions in EVERY roundabout when you want to signal that you're exiting the roundabout (which is required by law) since every roundabout has different radius - it's not something you can "learn". There are already reviews from Europe, specifically Nordic countries, where the lack of blinker stalk is a huge problem. Maybe it works better in other countries / US.

10:47 Level 2 cannot not drive faster than visual vision allows. Radar, lidar, etc. would therefore only be of limited help, because it must be ensured that the driver can see everything.

Truly favorable electric car for me! Both very long range and fast charge, plus very fast acceleration when driver need. Only one problem for me is its high price.

Well if you only need those, you can get a Model 3 Performance. You only need the S if you want to pay for extra comfort.

I owned a Model S 2015 AP1. Now I own Model Y LR 2021. I think my Model S was far superiour in all AP releated things. Changing lanes. Summon into parking spaces, auto park. Vision during AP. I dislike the Model Y with these points. But that is nothing when it comes to the windshield wipers. The auto is batshit crazy all the time. The lane change warning is just insane like a latin teacher. You could turn this off in the model s and it was off forever, not in model y. It comes on every time you put AP cruise control on. Same with lane warning. Lane warning also comes on once you put the car into park. Annoying as hell. I used to do AP like 90% but now it les less than 10%. No way in hell I even consider buying FSD. I want my model y to be on pair with my model s from 7 years ago

Yes, I have problems with „poor visibility“ quite often with my Model 3 after they have deactivated radar. It’s so stupid…

The Tesla has round cells and therefor a much better battery temperature management and less losses at low temperatures moreover the motors are very efficent. Third much lower weight. We drive MS100D M3P i4M50 😉

Incredible that, if I had the money, I could buy a car with Hypercar performance, Family car practicality, and have 400 miles of free range from my Solar panels in Summer. Maybe a BMW M5 gets close to the performance and Practicality but comes with terrible Servicing and running costs.

Cell temp over 50 degrees? this sounds very concerning. According to the battery university after 45 degrees there is quite alot of battery degradation happening.

Did Bjorn say the music is stored in USB stick? How can Tesla cars play music from USB stick? I cannot find a way for the media player to access the USB stick.

Old radar is just a radar with like 2 measuring points and useless for Tesla vision. New radar is coming for HW4. Will be much higher resolution

And radar is the main reason for phantom braking. Its also bad in winter and rain... Yeah, maybe improved version but humans drive with vision so it seems like a step backwards for FSD. Roads are made for human vision not AP

@@DG-uv3zw You obviously never drive newish German cars, for example. Also if the new sensors are so great, they make all prior Teslas obsolete. Even though their owners payed big ££££ extra for FSD, which they'll never get.

@@adrianguggisberg3656 so on B roads in rain or snow AP works? Don't make me laugh. I owe E coupe 2020 and AP is a joke. I never use it. It works on well marked roads but it can disengage randomly. And it can swirl on uphills or merges... It's no where near FSD.

Bjørn, Since you did not drive from 100% to near zero at 90 kph, how did you measure the battery capacity? Did you do it at 120 kph? I was really disappointed in the result of only 337 miles at 90 kph. I guess I will have to wait for a summer test with factory wheels and tires.
