The Model X is a polarizing car, I get that. Some are in love with the sloped design and futuristic Falcon Wing doors. Others, my wife included, swear it looks like a minivan and have a hard time seeing the utility of doors that open upwards. As the owner of a Model X 75D, I’m somewhere in the middle. You should be proud of it. This is a really good review. Yes it is fun to see one of the well known KZbin car channels drive around in a press car, take it to a track and driving through canyon roads. But day to day actual usage is what it is all about. Things like the visors is something that could be very annoying in everyday use, but something you'll never hear in a normal car review.

The batteries will charge for $8, but the management system and OTA computers are always on, so it will take more than just the 75Kw during overnight charging. I think he was just talking about base charge.

Awesome Review Jon!! I am a fellow X owner in Irvine. I agree with you on the windshield, definitely cool but on super sunny days a sunshade is needed. I picked up a heat shield that works great (made a video on that). I had an early X so had some quality issues that the service center resolved, including the clicking noise when the door opens. But it's definitely my favorite car! Plan to take delivery of the 3 later this year! Definitely looking forward to it!

70-80% ceramic tint on the windshield makes a world of difference with heat reduction. Ceramic is expensive as hell, but it'll also protect the interior from being damaged by UV rays.

It's hard to imagine spending 134k on a car. Just to get around town... Especially when its going to depreciate greatly in value after just a couple years. I've driven a Model S before, and while i do have to admit, they're very nice. And feel very luxurious, right up there with Cadillac and Mercedes. At the end of the day. It is just a way to get from where you are to where you're going... I'm not saying everyone should drive beaters. But there are plenty of 30k-40k cars/SUV's out there that are very nice and safe. I don't want to go all electric bad enough to pay 3x as much for it. I'd rather have two 35k cars (SUV/Truck and a Sporty/play car combo would be nice) and put that other 64k in the bank or some kind of savings or trust account for my children.

Very nice review. Jon, to say that 4.5 secs 0-60 ... "so it is not a slow car for being this big" ... is a bit of a misnomer. This is as fast, if not faster than many muscle cars. How fast does a car have to be in order not to be " not so slow" :)

What are some purchasing options with a Tesla, and which one is the best way to go? I know the answer will be, "it depends" So here is the background for where I am: I own 3 cars currently. 2018 BMW X3 M40i, 2015 VW GTI, and 2011 BMW 328i xDrive. It's too many cars for me. I'm not married, no kids. Working professional. I'm moving this summer and I've asked the builder to include a 240v EV charger in the garage. I'd like to dump the GTI and 328i and get a Model X.... BUT. I'm not sure if I'd like it. The biggest source of my skepticism stems from the charge time. Also, how does a Tesla compare to modern luxury cars in the build quality dept? I've heard some not so flattering things..? I don't want a Model S or Model 3 because I love the versatility of a modern day crossover. So. Should I purchase one? Or lease it?

I received my Model X 3 weeks ago. We have the same vehicle and color , except that I have the 5 seats with a black vegan interior, glad to hear about the durability. Model X 75D. Like you I love the huge wind shield. Visors are beyond useless:-) I used the have "dropped" Porsche 911 and love the Tesla suspension. 100% agree with you on your comments. My favorite car too. BUT I wish i'd gotten the P100D :-)

I have a 2017 CLS 550 and it drives itself now. It Reeds road signs for itself. So when you roll up to the 35 mile an hour Zone coming out of a 45 mile-an-hour Zone it will slow down on its own. It does have radar but it mainly uses 4 Forward and for rearward-facing stereo cameras. That uses those cameras to digitize everything in it's line of sight.

Okay outside of a few questionable and dangerous design flaws the autopilot being the most dangerous Elon Musk and Tesla have pushed the car companies to bring back yes I said,after over 100 years,BRING back the electric car and soon there will be the Henry Ford of electric cars admittedly it would be a tadpole three Wheeler Tadpole motorcycle the two wheels are in the front and the one wheel is in the back.

One question I always have on any unconventional door designs would be how it's like when you are getting in or out in heavy rain. Main concern is if the water would drain quickly enough around the frame and not overthrow onto the passenger or seat. This is ONE thing never mentioned from many reviews I have watched on KZbin. Awesome review. My major concern: how hot does it really get in the car if the roof doesn’t truly block out the sun completely? Is there anyway to offset the immense heat? (I have two toddlers, and while most adults have the mental discipline to deal with a semi-uncomfortable situation, we all know children can have a tough time adjusting to difficult environments at times.)

I feel that primarily fully electric cars will be the expensive versions of cars, like upgrading to a v8 engine, and hybrids will be the more affordable version of cars. But that is if we will ever cut back on combustion only cars. Hopefully one of these days I can buy my own fully electric car, and maybe not by Tesla because there will be far more options in the future but I do love these cars

i have the white seats for over a year. I regret it...i should've gone with black seats. I have child seats and they def left a mark even though i have car seat pads. and where they buckle in..it is white and not the vegan leather stuff and is cloth. so if you spill stuff it will stain it and it is hard to clean since it is like cloth.

remotely controlling ur car from a phone should not be a feature at all. It is a safety risk because everything that connects to a network is potentially hackable. If everything is done locally inside the car hackers cannot hack the car without physically connecting to the car.
