There is now a constant stream of news about Model Y heat pump failures. Will depreciate all Model Y (and other Tesla with a heat pump) values by $3 000+, when it hits the mainstream consciousness.

How long do you intend to keep your car? ... given the 5-7% rate of battery degradation per year. Most likely the battery needs replacement in 10 years.

This is for keeps. Degradation is supposed to taper off after the first year, but we'll see. For now my 74% gives me 232 miles. That's 232/0.74 = 313.5 miles on a 100% charge. Brand new estimate is 330 miles. So, degradation is 330/313.5 = 1.052 or 5.2%.

That will be an interesting project-hobby car in the future.
