9 months in and I'm still loving stepping into my Model 3 every day. You're right, the white seats really make the interior pop in the sunshine! I get so many positive comments about the seats. And they truely are easy to keep clean. And yes, the auto-wipers are probably the most annoying feature for me; they're not very intelligent. The one extra good thing I'd add... roadside assistance. Got a flat a few months ago, within 90mins the wheel was changed and I was on my way. Not bad on a busy Friday night.

Got the model y LR for 2 months now and I just can't get enough of it. It drives so pleasant that even my wife who preferred Volvo, says it's a very pleasant car. Even with family trips it's so amazing car. Starting the airco while waiting in the shop to enter a fresh cooled car via the app it's just so amazing. Also the amazing space in the trunk and backseats is just amazing.

One of the first things I did to my '24 Model Y Long Range is put different wheel covers on the 19" rims that cover the edge of the rim. The other advantage of the 19" rims is a bit smoother ride compared to the 20 or 21" rims.

I have a 2021 Model Y with 40,000 miles. One plus that you won't come across at only 6 months is the maintenance. My total maintenance has been filling the windshield washer tank, rotating the tires, changed the cabin air filter once but did have to change the 12Volt battery once due to living in a hot location. Still have the original tires. Also a minor thing but I never have to scrub off the brake dust because there isn't any.

Agree on all the points, especially Premium Connectivity, for roadtrips the satellite color maps are wonderful, especially finding unfamiliar superchargers in context of real world eg in parking lots... plus seeing the scenery around you.. plus, of course streaming music, so easy to just use voice control "play xyz" artist or song, so easy to get whatever suits your mood at the time.

Hi Ryan, I just collected my new Model Y Performance today. Your reviews and experiences contributed a lot to decision to jump to an EV and also to choose a Model Y. Since this is a 6 month old Model Y, some of the complaints have been addressed in new units. The suspension is improved, the price is reduced, and it gets the full tax credit. I keep comparing it to other similarly specced EVs and the MY just seems like the best deal overall. I could be wrong though, I just can't find another EV that matches the MYLR spec sheet without being way more expensive.

I have been driving my Y Performance for 2 months and I'm really happy about the car. The biggest issue with the car is that visual parking assist sucks and is a big step down from the 360 park assist I had in my Mazda. Then how the drive assist adjusts the speed limits needs an overhaul. Finally for some reason the car gets really dirty in the door openings I guess these are not sealed off good enough compared to other cars. But all in all I like the car.

Hi, I have a model 3 and I love the car but just a couple of things that hopefully can be improved. First is that the air conditioning vent blows cold air on your legs even though the graphics on the screen show it blowing towards your face. I complained to Tesla and they worked on it for three hours then said it needed parts to repair. 6 weeks later a new modified dash vent assembly was fitted and it made no difference. Technician said that “it is was it is” That’s why the top of the steering column is flat and curved up to direct the air up. Maybe during winter I’ll enjoy the warm air on my legs. Secondly I wish the clock on screen could be made a little larger. Thirdly I would like the brake lights on the graphics on the screen to be a little brighter for when your using regen braking. Great videos, keep up the good work

Great video Ryan. We’ve owned our model 3 LR since March 2021. We love it. It’s such a great car to own and drive. And it gets better every time a significant update comes along. However, we too have noticed: The paint is rubbish. We have the stupidly expensive Red option, which is no better than the white. You’ve only got to sneeze in front of it and there’s another chip. Disappointing and upsetting. We may end up getting the front resprayed and a protective film applied, next time we find a few thousand down the back of the couch. The auto wiper function is also rubbish on our car. It does exactly the same things yours does. We’ve noticed if you give the washers a squirt when a bug hits the screen, all hell breaks loose for the next minute or so. It must be damaging the blades at least, if not the screen itself. Still, no regrets. Great cars. Good to see so many 3s and Ys on the road now. We hardly saw a single other Tesla when we first bought ours. Cheers

You are sooo right about the auto wipers. Just got our black Mod Y RWD last saturday and it had rained quite a bit since then so plenty of time to get acquainted with the auto wipers. Exactly as you said, it seems to overly react to every raindrop and then the rain stops and it’s still merrily dry wiping. It’s very erratic and so hope that subsequent software updates will improve that. Autohighbeam…great! only little quibble reflector signs on the road often fool the car. It’s dimmed on every occasion for oncoming cars and following cars. Best car I owned! I keep making excuses to the family to take it for a drive…anywhere😊. Indeed, the future of driving!

I have the same car, including the Induction wheels. I’m in the UK and our roads are terrible so I think the suspension is too stiff. I gather the newer cars, certainly those made in Germany, have improved softer suspension. I also agree about the wipers so I find myself using autopilot less and less. Other than that, it’s excellent as you outline.

The chassis is not as refined as my Volvo V60 and makes more noise (and no….that isn’t because there is no ICE in it!). The suspension is not as plush as the V60. Also the seats are too short for me (1,89m). It is not bad but still not convinced. Next car is gonna be the Skoda Enyaq 88kw in bussines+ trim, to test drive….😅

Good review Ryan. I, like you, opted to install the Otrifowd sliding shade. This was not so much for sun protection as I live on the south coast of British Columbia, but rather for sound deadening. Pulling the rear portion of the shade forward seems to dampen some of the echoes fro the glass roof. As for keeping Cooper cool and happy on hot summer days, have you considered dropping the centre armrest/pass through portion of the rear seat back and aiming the A/C duct louvres through the opening? That vent produces a pretty strong supply of chilled air that might just do the trick.

thinking about getting one as our next car so I rented a MY for 5 days for a family trip. Personally, it felt a bit small and low compared to the camry and CRV we are use to. Loved how quiet it is and the surprising amount of cargo space. The biggest annoying point was that we had to pretty much google how to do every single thing in it and there are likely many features it has that we never knew existed. The car is not ideal as a rental vehicle for those whos never driven one. 5 days was enough for the initial hype to die down a bit. I still think its an interesting car and would love to explore all of its featurea. Just not something I feel I urgently want anymore.

Ha I've wondered exactly what someone's first impression is to the Y from a rental. Sometimes my brain just blacks out trying to do something basic, like indicate or park it. I've owned a 3 for 2 years and it still catches me out sometimes. It's almost risky to have people jump in to a Tesla without some prior experience. I hope it didn't put you off them for life :)

I feel ya. I've test-driven Model 3/Y four times, and checking stuff online in between on how to do certain things. It was only on the 4th drive that I could actually enjoy just driving and was confident enough about knowing my way around all the settings and controls.

@@SkandiaAUS I was thinking the same thing. It looks like Ryan's dad drove it in this video and I was wondering if I would do the same. We test drove the Model Y this week and we're on the fence about it.

@@SkandiaAUS probably depends how much you're trying to do. There's a lot you can do to customize your experience, but you really don't need to worry about if you don't want to. Drove one (MY) for 24hours , the owners showed me in 2min how to setup my profile, charge the car and I drove off... and just enjoyed the drive. My only trouble was the first time I tried to open the frunk (and the first time I tried to charge, but that was on the awfull provider app, not tesla's fault).

10:50 what do you “this price point”? A Model Y LR in the US is now roughly 45K OTD after government incentives. I wouldn’t exactly consider that luxury level.

6:16 - Looks like a shoddy paint job. I'm curious if that's only 1 coat or 2 coats of OEM paint at factory. The industry standard I think is 3 full coats of paint then clear coat so that the paint thickness will be more durable for rock chips. I used to have a car (2014 Pearl White Accord) with 1 coat of white paint on the hood and bumper that was repaired and it was a rock chip magnet with the metal hood like yours. But my vehicle was salvaged title so I don't expect this to happen on a brand new dealer vehicle.

I would add to the list of wishes a garage door opener as standard. Tesla is charging $350 plus 50 labor and sales tax here in Allegheny County PA of 7%. That’s crazy. Every car on the market has a push button garage door opener as standard not an option. Thanks.

Great car, but some quirks... - front lights need to be adjusted - squeaking sound from front left suspension (spoils the pleasure of driving silent) - phone struggling to connect (probably from my phone tbh) - windshield wipers turn on irrationally when not raining with low sun - Tesla Vision is just not working (should be on top of sensors...) - terrible turn radius - and as mention in the video, the suspension is quite firm Other than that, on the good side, plenty of range (long-range version), very efficient when driven smooth, lots of storage, very very powerful, Tesla supercharger network much cheaper on highway trips (at least here in Europe), all options come std (unlike every other car manufacturer that have too many trims to chose from), All in all the best deal I could find in terms of volume/range/options/price (ID4 being the runner up) but for the price, some of the quirks mentioned above should not be there.

Agreed on most points. Have a rwd y for 2 months now. 8000kms already. First ev. Auto wipes yeah sometimes go crazy sometimes force washing windshield works. Auto high beam is ok. Roof so far no issue so leaving it for now. App and software is great. Can’t wait for the 2023.11? update as it will fix a major gripe with the wiper adjustment in allowing the left scroll wheel to adjust the wipers.

Non-tesla owner here...I am considering buying model Y but there are some basic things like the wipers and the lack of final touches that really suprise me. For that price they are in the premium segment where you expect the basics to be there but instead you get fart apps....not ideal...

Lol Godspeed. They should cover the current damage. Also make sure all of them are flush snapped together. I lost one because it wasn’t snapped together. I’m glad I ordered an extra set. Hah

Does the white interior get rid of any "wood" in the interior? I like the black but would pay extra for the white to not have to look at simulated wood grain all the time.

yes it does 👍 we're also not a fan of the wood dash in the black option. U can buy aftermarket covers that clip on

Compared to the ioniq 5, this has so many more negatives and some of the pros are thanks to having to pay for a subscription model in addition. Eek. Much more worth paying an upfront for ioniq 5 for me for comparable range, better standard offerings and finishes.

Oh wow, I completely disagree ! I've had so many Ioniq owners say to me they wish they had done more research and got a Tesla. Will have to do a comparison between the two. Appreciate your comment as it's always good to get feedback like this ! Very glad to hear you're happy with the Ioniq.
