Bought a Y 2 weeks ago. I really wanted the updated 3 and that was the plan. However, it's just too small for my needs. I could have made it work, but the actual deal breaker was the seating position. In the 3, my legs are out in front of me and I can't bring my foot to me because the seat platform is in the way. In the Y, the seats are up higher which puts my legs in a more natural position and becuase the seat is elevated, there isn't a hump preventing me from folding my leg and bringing my foot closer to the seat. That really was the deciding factor. We'll see what happens with the new Ys next year and if it's significant enough, maybe we'll trade the 24 in for a 25.

Do not wait. It is VERY SIMPLE. Model Y now is better than it was last year and so on .. IF you are comfortable using the technology Tesla gives you for the vehicle, then buy now. Period. Only argument of ventilated seats on new Y falls flat on its face if you utilize what Tesla gives you now (aka cooling off car before you get in). I live in South Florida and had an X with ventilated seats, but have had ZERO complaints with my Y not having them. I took advantage of .99% instead of paying cash and the decision was easy. Also, I do not care about having the “newest looking” car, I only care about having the best, safest car for my family right now. That is the current Model Y. Do not wait, feel free to ask me more questions if you’d like.

I bought a Model Y LR a few months back due to the 0.99% financing and for its practicality in case I needed that. It's good but because I'm single, not that tall, don't need all the cargo space, love speed/acceleration, etc, I would've prob preferred a refreshed Model 3 LR or Perf. Unfortunately some months back when I was looking, the Model 3 LR AWD (also there was no 3 LR RWD) didn't qualify for fed tax credit or have any promo financing so my only choice was the Model Y. I think Model Y is a great choice if you want more of a family car, extra cargo space, are very tall, etc. If you want a super fast car, want the latest tech, maybe plan to use this on a track, are on the shorter side, don't need all the extra space, etc, then the Model 3 refresh is a great car. Otherwise, I'd prob just wait until Model Y refresh comes out so you can get the new changes in the bigger, family-sized car.

I drove the 3 and Y back to back last week. They both had similar rides on smooth roads. However, I drive a lot of backroads and the 3 soaked up the bumps while the Y beat me up so leased a 3. At delivery there were 100 cars being delivered in my time slot. I counted 5 model 3s 2 cyber trucks 1 model x the rest were model Y by far the most popular. The buying and delivery experience was incredible. Tesla employees were knowledgeable friendly and helpful. My wife said she didn’t want a Tesla but after the experience and doing a self drive home she was more impressed than me. I know when the new model Y is out that will be our next car.

Last year when I test drove both the 3 and Y, the main difference to me was obviously space but also the Y sat higher up and fit me better (I'm 6'2 250lbs). It also was quieter back then with double paned glass but the new 3's have that now. I like the look of the 3 better but it sits so low I just couldn't do it. As far as stalks, I had my Y in for service 2 months after I bought it and was given an X as a loaner for a week. I got used to not having stalks by the second day. I never got used to the yoke but that's mostly due to me used to resting my hands at 10 and 2 for the last 30 years of driving...

5 time tesla buyer. I just bought a new model 3 P (ludicrous) and i absolutely love it. My first tesla was 2018 model 3 P (stealth) first production month and absolutely loved it and still love it. then bought X P100D, then X Plaid, then Y. Sold the X P100D and the Y. yes, Y is most practical for most but 3 is the most fun and now refresh has just the best new suspension which I favor over the X plaid air suspension. its more fun to drive, best commuter vehicle and fun on the weekend car ever.

We agonized over getting a Y or the new 3. We had to get a car because we wrecked our car. We test drove both and the 3 blew the Y out of the water in every way except size. We decided to get the 3 and have zero regrets. Maybe when the new Y comes out we will reevaluate but for now it was a no brainer!

I'm 6'4" and I have two boys that are over 6' tall as well. I just drove both and while it's easier to fit everyone into a Y, we do fit into the 3, and the Y feels outdated compared to the 3. I think we'll go with the 3 until we get a second larger vehicle.

I am so torn right now. In Canada our incentives end March 2025 and I don't know if the new Y will be our before then. I just test drove the new 3 and really loved it. Still undecided. Take the chances and wait to see if it comes out before March, or get a 3.

I have a ‘23 M3 RWD and just picked up the ‘24 M3P last week. Two things I’ve noticed is my older 3 sub trunk feels bigger/deeper than the ‘24. I’ve also noticed the older 3 trunk hatch opens higher than the ‘24. The NVH in the ‘24 IS much better than the ‘23. Miss the stalks, though.

I'm living in Germany and just bought a 2024 Model Y LR RWD and I'm really satisfied. I didn't need it now, but you can add LED and a backseat screen (which I don't need since I have no kids) DIY. And I also don't know when the new Y comes to Germany, expecting it to arrive here way later than in the US. So I'm really happy I bought the 2024 Model Y. I don't even need the space, I just like SUVs.

It's an electrical device, so buying a new one is usually the better choice-unless size is a priority for you, haha. The Model 3 now comes with a new design, ventilated seats, ambient lighting, improved suspension, double-layer window, back seat screen and 17 speakers.

I would love to have the extra space that the Y has, but I cannot get the Y’s seat low enough to make it comfortable to press on the accelerator. In the 3 you just press forward, but in the Y it is more angled, down and forward. The Y’s position really hurts my shin splint. I’m probably the only person in the USA with this issue, but who knows?

I don't need the space and I like a good looking car. To be honest, I didn't like the old M3 that much but I really don't like the MY at all. The new M3 however I like a lot with its much more modern and aggressive look. The finishing is on a whole other level too. For me it's the new M3 or no (affordable) Tesla. The current MY would be no option. BTW: don't miss the stalks at all.

I did not wait lol. I just picked up my new 2025 Model Y 7 seater on Sunday. I’m assuming that if I waited I’d be waiting until 2027. I have two teens with very active lives and a bouncing 2yr. So space was needed. I like it thus far, it’s a big difference from the Model S we used to have and the only things that are throwing me off is seating so high plus the back window is tiny. But I came here because, I’m confused as to why when I’m looking for accessories for my Y suggestion for the 3 pop up as well.

That's what I don't like sometimes about the online Tesla community. Feel like people will always say "wait and there will be better deals" but then that's just an infinite cycle cause there is always going to be either a better deal or a newer thing that comes esp since Teslas are tech cars and technology evolves fast. If a person is looking for absolutely everything, then they'll prob get nothing.

Bought a Model Y back in May and I believe back then only the 2WD Model 3 was eligible for the $7500 tax break which was a big reason why I went with the Y. I like the look of the 3 much better however I do a lot of road trips with 2 people in the back so having the extra cargo space made a lot of sense. Either way love the vehicle. I'm hoping in the next several years the battery tech will progress to at least a 600 mile range with a shorter charge time. That's when I'll be upgrading. If it was just me alone the Model 3 would've been my first choice.

I was Gona get the y. I test drove it 3xs. Im now test driving the 3 for 2 days. My thoughts... The Y is bigger with a big "butt" more space and larger screen. Interior is boring. The 3 is sportier, zippier, cheaper in price, low to the ground, and has the ambient lighting all over the car. The interior made me go "hmmmm this is cooler looking than the Y and it draws your eyes to it more than the Y". I'm ordering the 3 for sure. Good thing I test drove both of them before deciding

@@NewYorksFinest1 I see. I think if they do more incentives, you'll still have to take delivery by Dec 31 to get everything since they want to increase their Q4 numbers. I would check existing inventory and see if the car, specs, configs you want are there and if there are indeed better deals later, then pull the trigger immediately on the inventory car so you can get it before Dec 31 if Tesla requires that. The only thing I'm unsure about is the deals Tesla would do for Model 3. I imagine they'll do really good deals for the Model Y. But Tesla prob has some leverage due to uncertainty about the tax credit cause I'm sure people are currently buying in case it goes away sometimes in 2025.

Right now the deals are: - 0% financing promo (order by Dec 15, take delivery by Dec 31) - $7.5k fed tax credit - $500-$1000 inventory discounts - $1k rewards discount - 3 months free FSD and supercharging (take delivery by Dec 31) - $1k military discount (if applicable) I think it's possible Tesla increases inventory discounts and offers more incentives after Dec 15 but the question is if they're gonna remove Promo Financing completely or just do like a combination of 1.99% financing AND inventory discounts AND incentives. Idk, Tesla doesn't seem to be going as hard about deals compared to Dec in previous years so not sure what's going on.

I have both the Y is still better. The Y has upgraded many things like the comfort suspension etc. interior of Y is still more luxurious the new 3 went cheap but got rear screen they added light bar but etc…

When the new Y comes out it’s going to range between 60k-80k depending on the model so not a solid argument. The model y will not decrease in value much if you purchase it rn because it’s already discounted substantially from what people paid for them over the past few years.

My decision is difficult for me because I am assuming the $7500 credit is going away in 2025 since Trump was elected. (I live in Maryland, by the way)... So do I get the refreshed Model 3 before 2024 ends or the current Model Y without the refresh? For a fun twist my oldest son owns a 2021 Model 3 and my youngest son owns a 2023 Model Y. Will somebody just make this decision for me?? Thanks

We see in 2023 Tesla Y camera that a person walking in our drive way but when we look outside there is nobody.It puzzle us. We also see sometimes in our garage while we coming back at night but in real there is nobody. We did several test and find out that camera will show if there is somebody there, but how come it is showing somebody while there is nobody there, Is it JIN or a GHOST that powerful energetic Tesla camera catches it?. There is no customer service or helpline of Tesla to put this question to. Some company charging for questions to ask a Tesla expert. It should be free. Do, any of you has an answer. It is easy to say this is a computer Glitch, or computer or camera issue or mistake, but we do not take those answers as real unless Tesla company provide an explanation. We need real technical answer why it shows a ghost same like a real person in camera when there is nobody out there.

I want the Model 3 Performance in the new Quicksilver, but just found out that it’s an additional 2k which conveniently puts the cost just over the $7500k tax credit threshold qualification. The rear vents should have been above the screen. All they do is blow on your legs. Elon probably thought the primary purpose of the screen is to play video games so he screwed this up.
