I currently own a 2019 Audi and the moment I sat in my friend’s model Y, I immediately noticed a difference in seat comfort even though I was wearing a jacket. Audi seats are more comfortable than Tesla’s. And I assume Mercedes takes that to the next level. So, I’m misaligned when you say the model Y seats are comfortable. You can definitely say the definition of ‘comfort’ is relative. I highly recommend driving an Audi or Mercedes.

LOL . . . "after market accessories" , in other words stuff Tesla should have put in the vehicle in the first place but is too cheap to do it and instead make you buy it your self. Can you think of a reason Tesla does this? I can think of 54 billion reasons why they do it. Most of these "brutally honest" reviews just sound like paid commercials done by a host who is jabbering like a magpie on methedrine . Yes, Teslas are cool, edgey cars but have too many fit and finish issues ( namely the cheap paint, huge gaps in the panels, etc ). They have great tech but poor quality control when it comes to the vehicle's body. The old adage of "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is" holds here. Nice review but you did not mention anything about how much cold weather affects the range of the car, charging times, whether or not you leave it outside or keep it in a garage, since you are in Canada, eh?
@akirasanchannel20242 ай бұрын
Nice review. One thing you can do to keep your Tesla connect all time is use an old phone and ask to your operator a second sim card. Like this you can always have connections on your EV. And it can stay connected to the USB on the glove box 😉

Any suggestions or recommendations on installing the charger at your house? We test drove the model Y about a week ago and we loved it! We live in an older home and the panel is not powerful enough to add the Tesla Charger. We’ve been given a few options (upgrading the entire system being the most expensive) adding a sub panel being the least. Obviously many things to consider before purchasing this car so any advice would be greatly appreciated. We’re in Toronto btw if that helps. Thank you 😊 btw we’d like the fast charge option installed I believe it’s the 240 volt option

Here is my experience, I just paid off my 2021 Dodge Charger Scat Pack Widebody few months ago and i thought it would be best to buy a Model Y performance for daily driver and save on gas and not to put too many miles on my Scat Pack so i did, Based on 2 months of ownership i drove about 6200 miles and that's 3k/month and based on gas prices in CA i can tell you i was getting about 14-15mpg on charger and doing the math and comparing it to my Tessie app that tracks all the data and i can report i have saved $2525 in Gas and i haven't driven the charger even once since i got the Tesla and i spent $500 in Electric cost for two months and may payment is $725+170 Insurance through Tesla and if you do the math the 2months of payment+Insurance+Electric Bill will total is less than the Gas i would have spent on my Dodge Charger so I'm now thinking i need to sell the Charger because it makes no since to keep it, i enjoy driving the Tesla more then i thought i would and i can't go back anymore and planning to upgrade my Dads Lexus and moms Explorer to Tesla's after i install solar. BTW if you want accurate calculations on gas you need to use Optiwatt or Tessie because they allow you to change the gas price and put your actual MPG to get an accurate comparison unlike Tesla app give you BS national average and compares to Most efficient Hybrid cars and that's not the case for most people.

Starting with a steep price and steeper learning curve to operate a Tesla from the touchscreen and steering wheel controls, the need to get the sun shade and jacking blocks is insult to injury. I read that why you pay higher prices for your Tesla is the technology under the body panels which there's no argument from me. Tesla is and still is innovating the automobile and made EVs mainstream much like Tucker did when he launched his rear engine car. For now, you have to deal with the spartan interior, glass roof, poor paint job, ill-fitting exterior body panels, cheap interior materials (for such a costly car) and quirky issues (sometimes) with all that new tech. That said, CR recommended the Model 3 as a best buy for its reliability, and I heard they improved its ride too. Someday, I would like to get a Tesla, even the Cybertruk which is out of this world different. But isn't that why Tesla owners buy their Tesla products anyway?
@Skyking6976Ай бұрын
Owning a Tesla for a month, I can tell you the spartan interior is because Musk wants full self driving and you’ll be able to use the touchscreen as much as you want. For now the car’s interior camera will see you’re not looking outside and remind you it’ll shut off if you don’t stop looking at the screen for so long. I/m done driving and use autopilot 99% of the time. I start down the driveway, push a button, tell the car in normal language where I want to go, pull down on the right stalk and it will drive me there. Steep price? With state and federal incentives I only paid 39K for a Model Y, which included upgraded paint and interior. 39K is almost 10K less than the average vehicle transaction price in 2024.

I kept my tesla y performance only one year (dec 2022 model) ⛔️Even with 19” wheels still way to stiff suspension. ⛔️ Road noise at highway speed is not up to the price tag/class. ⛔️ Range drops substantial at highway speed. Same in cold or high temperature weather. ⛔️ Went for a lexus hybrid.

You should've gotten a regular gas car. Less maintenance, less moving parts, more power and the fuel efficiency difference is negligible.

As an owner of a Model 3 and Y, after owning cars from virtually every other car manufacturer, no they don’t eat tires faster unless you are constantly enjoying the quick acceleration the Teslas so effortlessly provide. It is hard for me to control myself so I keep it in “chill” mode most of the time which makes it slower like an internal combustion car. 😂

The general design of the Teslas would not work for me. I require a conventional analog instrument cluster (with actual needles) in front of the driver, with discrete switches that can be operated by feel for all necessary car functions. There should be no touchscreen needed to operate the car. Using it takes your eyes off the road, and in the harsh automotive envionment, it will fail in time. The question is when... and until it is fixed, whatever it is needed for cannot be done. The repair will certainly not be cheap, as dealer prices seldom are (and with Teslas, that's pretty much all repairs). f the touchscreen is part of an easily replaceable double DIN car stereo, that's tolerable as far as the reliability goes (since it is an easy fix when it fails), but the less looking away from the road that is required, the better. On my newish gas vehicle (mid teens), when I replaced the factory CD player install an aftermarket radio with USB media capability, I did opt for a touchscreen car radio, since that also opened up the possibility of a backup camera, which my car (with the typical high rear end and poor rearward visibility) unfortunately needs. The important part is that the main audio controls on the steering wheel work nicely with it, so again, I don't need to look away from the road. I don't have an Android or iOS phone, or a Windows or MacOS computer, because they are bad for privacy. My car is no different. For this, it must not have any connectivity to the outside world. That means no OTA updates, no realtime info on supercharging locations and how busy they are, none of that stuff. The data flow is a two-way street, and for me it's "road closed." Teslas are clearly not meant to be operated independently as such, and that is a problem for me. I have a policy of never buying any hardware that requires an external service operated by someone else to function. Anything I buy that is not a phone, laptop, or router will absolutely be airgapped from the WAN, and that includes cars. Tesla people always mention how road trips are easy because the system just automatically plans for supercharger locations and guides you to them, but that means being connected to their spy system, which is a NO for me. I have taken dozens of road trips across the USA in gas-powered cars, with no navigation system other than a paper map, and I never had to worry about navigating to a specific place where I could "charge" the fuel tank. Teslas may have the best EV charger network around, but it's still not to the point where you can find multiple charge points at nearly every exit from the interstate, or at every major intersection. With a gas car, I don't need guidance to a charging location. When I am on a road trip, I don't like to waste time. I have a limited number of hours in the day before I become too tired and have to stop, and I want to get the miles in before that happens. I stop for gas... that's all. While the tank is filling, I go in and use the bathroom, and I grab some food while I am there, or I hit a nearby drive thru afterwards. I'm in and out in ten minutes. Waiting for an EV to charge to 80% is still too long.
@chaywarburton3488Ай бұрын
10-20 mins for a supercharger to do that. That's too long? 5 stops is one hour extra on a day trip...
