Great idea with the paper seal test. I’ve noticed it can get quite nasty under the door so it gets special attention every time I clean the car now.

Interesting idea and look forward to seeing how well it works to keep the muck away.

I'm amazed they don't have sealer on from the factory. I remember an interview when musk said that was the hardest job in a car factory and as someone that's done that job a can agree. It's applied wet normally. Before being painted. It also protects the folded metal from rust from water ingress. Anyway good job 👍🏻 btw that inside edge of the rear door no-one applies sealer there as the front door makes that seal ..

……. Of course they have a sealer on from the factory!!! This is for all cars and meant not to get dust on that part he shows. That happens in 99.9% of the cars

@@ricarmig are you blind ? You can see it doesn't have sealer down the edges of the door as he applies this extra layer. You couldn't fit that on most cars as they already have sealer. Go take a look at yours.

Water always gets past the window seals, hence the drain holes in the doors. It looks to me as if water from the door drains will be unable to get out while the door is shut with this seal kit, especially the rear doors as the seal is well below the drain hole. As rainwater contains silt particles I'd be concerned that these could eventually block the drains causing more issues than these seal kits solve. I'd rather mucky sills than a door full of silty water. Additionally, with such a low compression seal on the door bottom, I'd be concerned some water and grit particles would get between it, stick to the seal and abrade the paint (early Gen 3 MINI's had this problem with the door seals). I don't have a noise problem on my Model 3 (Fremont built) and can live with the dirty sills.

Everything you said is 100 percent correct... The paint abrasion is awful with these... Especially where the adhesive touches paint ..dirt sticks to edge and wears right through the paint .. These kits should be banned

you're blocking drainage holes in the bottom, so water will collect there and those seals will hang after some time.

You must have missed that bit in the video cos I'm not blocking the drainage holes.

@@GoGreenAutos I'm not missing. water draining because there is no seal on a bottom, once you put seal there, water will just sit there.

@@paulf3353right... It is not meant at all to seal
@jakesta1125 күн бұрын
Too late now but you didn't cut the drain hole... The adhesive is supposed to be flush with the door bottom and the seal is lower than the door edge.... Otherwise the way you did it, it doesn't actually make a seal - it's just a piece of rubber on a door.

all cars really should just come with outer seals like this.

@@ricarmig Tesla is known for poor paint, poor fit and finish, no dashboard, and cheap plastic interior. Tesla has range anxiety. FSD is years behind schedule. Tesla depreciates like a stone, after purchase. Honda or Toyota are the smart choices.

@@DerekDavis213 Tesla WAS known to have poor everything, but improved over the years and 99% what you said is not true anymore. Plastics are as good as most cars in the order range, definitely better than most Honda or Toyota! A Dashboard works be good but it’s true that it’s not needed. I have one on my Tesla and I barely use it. Tesla…has range anxiety?! What concept is that? 🤣🤣🤣 no no no, EV could give range anxiety but that concept came up with people against EVs and that just isn’t a real thing: - IF you drive over 500 km in one go at the highway it’s unsafe. Other than that you have to stop to eat sobering and go to the bathroom and meanwhile you charge for another go - with an EV (Tesla or not) you CAN each morning wake up with full range, full charged. You don’t have to tank to make a trip 🤩 - with an EV you can recharge while shopping or sleeping in the hotel and next morning have the full range - with EVs you can be in New York full of cars (EV) and have clean air That doesn’t happen with an ICE. “Oh but with an ICE you can drive 600 km without stopping” yeah but the human inside of it must or should stop 😆
