FYI if you forget to lower the window like I did prior to installing, it did not end up working and also messed up the calibration between the window rolling up at lock. Once you put original puddle light back in will the door recalibrate. God speed.

I got these when they were available to order and I personally love mine! Glad you noticed that the passenger side was installed incorrectly lol I was about to point it out.

If they were actually improved puddle lights, I would buy them, but I don’t care about having the Tesla logo on the ground at the expense of worse illumination

The rear puddle will always be dimmer if you open both doors at the same time. If you close the front door the rear door should get brighter

Others have said that here. But I've tested mine (2024 MY) and they don't. There's just one brightness to the rear puddle lamps (with the front projector lights fitted).

They print "Model Y" on the box, so I assume not.

@@GoGreenAutos Well a lot of the 3rd party ones are compatible with all models, except the Cybertruck. So I'd expect this one to be the same.

I don't know, but I doubt it. It's probably just labelled left & right so the logo is projected the correct way.

I just plugged in whatever I could find, without paying attention to left or right, so that the Tesla logo would be visible correctly.@@GoGreenAutos

I wouldn't buy this bling unless replacing broken ones especially at that price. Is the light on the ground around the "Telsa" projection actually coming from the interior lights or is the projection providing all the light it all?

@@GoGreenAutos Cheers, that sort makes the under door lights a bit of a waste of time. its about time all EV manufacturers cut this sort of bling to produce cheaper cars. the damn light bars front and rear are an expensive waste too

1. I have referral credits and a model y but I cannot see these as an option 2. They look to be not as bright as the originals. I had Ali express ones on my model 3 and had the same problem with brightness. They just seems to make them not worth it

Your referral credits are quite hard to find in your Tesla account. However, when paying for an online purchase, near the end of the checkout when entering payment, there is a box you can select for "credits" and then that uses credits in your Tesla account. Its easy to miss it, but it's there.

I too have referral credit - just ordered some on the strength of this Matt for our M3P. I like them - others won't.

Unrelated query, but about Tesla models. I have heard that V2G is available on Tesla models, but would need software changes. To your knowledge is that correct? If so would it apply to any Tesla model? We have a charger installed already which I have been assured is V2G compliant and have yet to choose an EV.

No its not. It's something Tesla have never done as they instead favour a home battery such as the Tesla Powerwall. The Tesla Cybertruck has power outlets though. I don't believe V2L will ever come to any of the current Tesla models due to the inverter. I saw a video about the Tesla inverter being single directional only.

Yes, I'll be doing the same when my credits expire next year. The trouble is there's nothing on the Tesla shop that I want or don't already have. I might just stock up on wiper blades & cabin filters!

lol the Tesla name is upside down on the driver side? Edit: ironically your mistake showed up at the end while I was writing this! But yea too bad it’s a waste of money if they don’t shine much more like a puddle light. Perhaps they could have inserted a big logo underneath the letters

I didn’t know there were instructions available 😂 I fitted mine blind. I did things in the wrong order now I’ve seen your video. I did the right hand side first and I didn’t wind the windows down but everything seemed to go ok. I did notice the radio stopped when unplugging it the original lights. I also restrained from buying after market for the same reasons. I know some people have fitted 3rd party and had no issues but I felt it wasn’t worth the risk. I would always feel like they were a ticking time bomb.

I'm sure the order doesn't make a difference and the 'window down' instruction is just to protect the glass if you shut the door. I followed the instructions and still fitted one light the wrong way around!

Good point. Personally I've not found it a problem, but I guess you don't with a white car with black handles. But a black car must be an issue.

A light is a light. If you feel better buying a tesla light at 10x the price, go for it. If the light fails, the windows also don't go down. Just a note, when the front and door opens , the rear door lights dim a lot.

Rear lights dimming - I've just been outside to test that and they certainly don't on my MY.

Maybe a light isn’t a light if your rear lights are dimming when you open the front door. Sure, light is light but that doesn’t mean they draw the same current. I would be concerned if they’re causing other lights in your car to dim. That’s voltage drop and could be a problem. If we’re talking about a 1975 something I would say no problem but with cars now something like this could cause problems with who knows what. I’ve seen Toyotas go completely haywire because the battery was not providing enough voltage.

This seems like poor design. It doesn't illuminate the ground before you open the door, which is when you need to see (or are there other floor illumination lights somewhere?)
