Not sure. People in the end buy something on their own opinion. With all the Chineese CCP influence on Chineese software, there is a huge stigma on Chineese Software. Not so hardware... that you can control yourself as a consumer. But the software is something the western world find very dangerous from China. As you might know on the Nio and Xpeng board of directors are CCP officials placed. This is not true capitalistic freedom and can be dangerous if the company has to comply with certain software put in the cars. This is sadly the reality, China is NOT a democracy and this will flow trough the software. Wish we could buy a Chineese car with western software this would be fine.

Nio ET7 is a real full-size luxury EV, unlike Tesla EVs are mass-market cars selling at premium prices. Compared to Tesla Model S, Nio ET7 wins not only in price, but also in build quality, luxury features and safety - unlike Tesla EVs, there is no complaint of Nio EVs of self ignition, sudden acceleration and brake failure. I am not surprised that a Tesla Model S owner wants to switch to Nio ET7.

Rotterdam HQ just opened on 23rd March. For Tesla the Dutch market is the biggest market on Eurooean continent. Good to see concurrence from China steps up. I am in contact for 2 years with battery manufacturers in China ... doing great work in engineering. Young sales Staff, good English speaking ... highly motivated. Chinese people are cool, smart, curious, creative... The net price for ET7 is 70000 euro (incl. Tax 84000). Leasing as alternative around 1300 monthly inclusive insurance and fully maintenance.

Why does China still make some cheap products? Because many countries around the world are not as rich as Europe, their hourly wages are much lower than Europeans for the same work. They need those cheap products, such as cheap bikes, motorcycles and mobile phones. An IPhone 14 is equal to their annual income, and they can't afford it. By and large, Chinese products have improved living standards in poor countries. It has also kept inflation low in the US, where the federal minimum hourly wage has not been adjusted for decades.

Eric, you mention the whining sound up to 30km/hr, I think this noise is the pedestrian warning noise required by law in the EU. On my ES6 in China there is the option to disable this noise, I’ve never tried to disable it so not sure if that is what you are hearing.

China's EV is going to revolutionize traditional combustion car industries. The design outlook can always be improved by engaging top European car designers, which they are already doing. BYD U8 leading technologies is also very interesting. Its designed by Audi chief designer with a logo badge of Chinese oracle character signifying "Electric".

@Eric_Garrison This is a great video! The gentleman test driving stated the price difference between a 75 kWh and 100 kwh, which is staggering and shouldn't be that much. I don't even want to know what their 150 kWh would be. For those prices I think they're wasting a lot of money trying to develop their own batteries b/c who'd pay over $20k or even $15k? Definitely go with BaaS. With that being said, I understand NIO allows one with BasS to opt out with the purchase of a NEW battery at stated prices. I think that's a mistake. NIO will have to eventually rotate batteries out of service so why not recondition the batteries and sell as a used or RECON with a limited warranty for much less, especially after using BasS for 4 or 5 years? That'd make more sense and I think would encourage more potential buyers to go with NIO. To own a car that long then to be required to spend over $10k to purchase a battery to own, that could be a deal breaker. If I decided to keep the car long term, it would be for me. If I knew I could buy a RECON, I'd purchase. Example: after 5 years using a 75 kwh BasS and paying $9000 ($150 / month), I could have the option of buying a 75 kwh RECON that's been in service for about the same number of years for $3k ($5k for 100 kwh) or if wanting NEW then pay $$$$$. I think that should be made an option plus it prolongs service life, and encourage buyers to opt for a NIO. Buy the recon online, be directed to a swap station, exchange, own. Quick and easy!

The autopilot system is key in a large amount of driving data, and China has no shortage of driving data.
