Nice inclusion of the footage from the car, that was cool!

Thanks. Took me forever to understand how to do some stuff in Davinci Resolve but I'm getting better at it all the time :)

"Report Phantom Braking" had no clue until this video that you could do that!
@SwissTeslaFan3 жыл бұрын
Hi Christopher. Yeah I discovered that just by trying. I figured the developers must have included a way to do that, tried it and it work. You can report different type of issues, such as wrong speed limits, etc...

Tesla basically told me today that they knew this was a major issue when we bought the car last year, that they didn’t tell us about it before we bought it and that it’s our responsibility to decide whether or not we keep the car! Surely this is a major recall notice issue?

Great video. I did not know you could use voice command to "Report phantom braking", which is super convenient. Thanks for this. Here in Hong Kong, I had issues like you with AP, slowing down or braking for no reason on the highway, and phantom braking. I have a few videos too.

Thanks for the kind words and the feedback. With the voice commands you just have to try things, I found that one because I thought probably the engineers would need it and it worked :)

Hi! I just found this video when searching for Tesla phantom breaking. It happened to me with my 2021 Model 3 and it was harsh! I was on the freeway going 65mph (not sure what that is in Kph I’m in USA) and it broke to 25 in a matter of 1second! Hurt my back! Thank god no one was behind me! There was no one even in front of me but a truck to the right got a little too close to me and it happened. It should have auto corrected to move left a tad, no? Can anyone report it to Tesla the way you did?? Or are you driving a test car of some sort?? So happy to see this!!

Yes me too. I seem to getting the updates pretty late these days, not sure why.

Yes I believe this is why they did a full rewrite of the vision analysis system, because the current frame-by-frame code was proving unreliable.

@@SwissTeslaFan this car can KILL you. You cannot do FSD on visible range wavelength without a LIDAR. if it rains and rain gets on cameras... you can die even faster. The car is like a person when it is super thick fog at night. stupid engineering. Nice visuals though... bad engeneering!

@@CalifornianOnEEuropeerm...LIDAR is what doesn't work in rain. Cameras aren't perfect but LIDAR is never going to work as it reflects off water and ice and causes all manner of problems.

It’s great to see your videos. I recently bought a Tesla model 3. Can you recommend any routes in switzerland which are relatively bug free to try auto steer / navigate on autopilot?
@SwissTeslaFan4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. In general I would recommend highways with little traffic if you are learning to use the system. I wouldn't recommend trying it off highways if you are not used to the system. Also maybe just getting used to the adaptive cruise control might be an even easier learning curve. Phantom breaking will probably happen, so make sure you are ready to re-accelerate at all time if it does. It happens most frequently when passing under bridges or going into tunnels/in-tunnels. It seems to be related to false analysis of the images that interprets shadows as obstacles. What has changes over time is the amount it brakes on a false break. It used to break a lot and now you usually only loose a few km/h which makes it less problematic but still surprising.

That's a good question. There is a big problem with regulations (UNECE specifically). Hopefully Tesla will be able to convince regulators as they continue to accumulate safety data but it's clear that it will take time and that is unfortunate as clearly the numbers are in automation's favor now.
@David-zx8fc3 жыл бұрын
@@SwissTeslaFan As long as there is phantom breaking and similar problems I don't think full self driving will be allowed. These problems have been going on for years now and Tesla still has not been able to fix them. So maybe it is not possible for this model.

Elon Musk just talked about this problem recently in tweets, where he said that radar was causing most of the phantom breaking. They are looking at removing the use of the radar to get rid of/reduce phantom breaking. We will see how to goes. As for availability of FSD he also said they hope to deliver it to Europe by the end of 2021, pending regulation approval (which I think is the biggest problem right now).
