As you know, I was able to attend the event and actually did a video on my ride in a cyber cab in detail for the interior, but what I believe will be part of the design is the steer by wire has a force feedback steering wheel that can be bolted onto any of those vehicles for right hand drive for left-hand drive And it makes it easy to design the cyber cab for a low-cost Tesla, simply by adding pedals and a steering wheel and that’s the only change you’ll see so I believe the lower cost will ultimately be made from the cyber cab

Quite possibly. I'd imagine a few more creature comforts necessary, i.e. fully adjustable seats, door pockets, glove box etc. No rear window/mirror though? No doubt a camera would suffice, but I'd imagine 4 doors and glass roof would be necessary for a mass selling compact Tesla. Same platform, different shell I recon.

@@DanielEarlester So I personally would love to have a 2-seater, because I drive a Tesla Model S, and as far as utilitarian/accommodations are concerned, it’s a total waste of money, and I plan to go back to the Model 3, which is what I traded in to get the Model S, but I really like the refreshed Model 3, it more closely meets my needs, but a 2-seater would be even better, because all I really need is a small commuter car. I’ve recently been a bit anti Musk (the personality) while owning and loving my Tesla. I teared up watching the super heavy booster get caught. The future Musk and his companies’ teams are creating for us cannot be overstated. It all reminds me that impossible things can happen. The continued delays for FSD are because it’s hard. It’s never been done, but they’re trying. They’ll get it one day. Still I wish he would stay off social media. One last note, I’m a wedding photographer. These robo cabs are PERFECT for weddings. Guests can get as hammered as they like and safely, cheaply and environmentally friendly, get home without needing designated drivers or expensive bus hire with hired drivers. Amazing

"Two-seaters have been proposed for decades as commuter vehicles. They just haven't taken off."... When I was commuting into work fifteen miles five times a week I would have loved to have a small efficient and SAFE two seater vehicle. About the only one I can think of that was available at the time was the SmartCar. That design looks great but I have heard it was about as expensive as a regular car and it looks about as safe as an empty beer can rubberbanded to a skateboard. The legacy OEM's have not been providing viable options for people to purchase.

Why is it so difficult for some to understand? The cybercab is a two seater for most rides. If you need more, you can request a robotaxi model 3 or model y etc. Just like the event showed. It had several different vehicles with different numbers of seating running autonomously.

@lukenoble8613
@lukenoble8613 Ай бұрын
@ThomasHawkwood so why not create a new cheaper vehicle rather than make a vehicle as purely a taxi? The public wants a cheap Tesla. This was that opportunity. It still could have been a taxi whilst being sold to people who just want to own one. Because it has no Pedals and no wheel. It now needs to get approval. Which may never happen. So why build this? Why not build this with a wheel and know it goes on the road and has greater mass adoption? Why limit it to wireless changing? Why no door handles? Who can legally own one? Because you won't technically need a licence. So a kid could own one. Cmon. There are so many things I can destroy any argument you have. Answer a few of those questions and I'll either back down and accept it as I'm wrong. Or I'll prove you are an idiot.

@lukenoble8613 Tesla will make a cheaper model. They don't want to reveal it until it is nearest to production. If people know, let's say $27k is coming out in 9 months or x days, who would buy Model 3 or Y? This will reduce their sale for the current models immediately.

@@nguyep4interesting thought. But i doubt this. People are just as likely to just get a different car instead of waiting for one never coming. Only thing that will keep Tesla from being decimated, is tariffs to keep super cheap Chinese alternatives away

Your love for Elon is touching. However, why the Cybercab if the 3/Y can do it with more space? Why not spend the cash designing an actual cheap car? Taxis are the way they are because of evolution. For example, the disabled and elderly use cabs more than most but they'll struggle getting in a small 2 seater. Autonomous vehicles will also never cure traffic jams, certainly not by his dream of building millions more cars. The real elephant in the room is autonomy and Tesla being unable to do it. He's hobbled his engineers with his vision only demand. It might be cheaper than a Waymo vehicle but Waymo are working right now. Teslas aren't.

If journalists have not actually watched anything and made up all of this (as usual) it is just demonstating their stupidity. A taxi could maybe take 3 passengers as one could sit next to the driver. You can't always fit 3 people in the back, with so many shapes and sizes of car seats and people. I think having a much more comfy seat is a winnner. One thing I've not heard anyone mention is, with a large fleet of Tesla model 3s and Ys already out there, why is there a need for a new 2 seater, I would have thought the running costs for a model 3 and Y would only be slightly less than the new 2 seater, is 1 or 2 miles per Kw and a slightly lower price going to make that much of a difference? you could potentially lose 10% efficiency by charging wirelessly, would the market reach saturation point? how many taxis are really needed? Will enough people switch from owning a car to using robotaxis for it all to make sense, I'm sure there is a need and it will work, but I've not heard anyone have a stab at doing the numbers

There was 288k yellow cabs/taxi's in the USA alone as of 2022. there are 7.1 million registered Uber drivers. If Tesla can find a market by selling to existing taxi companies it will be worth it. But to sell them, maybe Tesla needs to start their own fleet to scare them into buying. These will be 30-40% cheaper to build than a model 3 or Y, so cheaper for Tesla to roll out. As for wireless charging these are not like phone chargers. EV wireless chargers are between 92-94% efficient most are 150kw but 300kw are coming online. Many high powered cabled chargers are not as efficient.

FSD isn't ready and it appears the taxis were just running the existing software. So nothing new. Also, China actually have AI driven taxis...now... today. - The bus is a joke. It looks like a 10 year old designed it and dont get me started on the practically of the design. Again, Helsinki already have these driverless buses. So nothing new... again. The robot - they've made zero progress. All the robots in the event were not AI driven and remotely controlled. Boston dynamics robot is superior in every way. In summary, nothing is new and they've put a futuristic veneer on existing technology.

it is crazy how most people can not see the obvious future coming even when you present it to them.

Sorry, the presentation was shit. It stunk from a PR point of view. Tesla, improve your marketing! Don't let engineers plan marketing events. Well, also obvious, so many are doing marketing for Tesla, unpaid by Tesla I might add, so just allow cameras for KZbinrs into such an closed event and they will spin the story to just sound positive. Better than letting Tesla do marketing. They should just stick to engineering.

Tesla can't win. When they do make a 2.5 hour in depth technical presentation as they did on AI day amongst others, no one gets it. When they do show a slicker event like this with nice shiny things they get bashed for not going in depth enough 🤦‍♂️

As I understand it, Tesla have gone from zero to market leader on the strength of groundbreaking products and happy customers. Unlike the multi million advertising budgets of the withering encumbents

The event was amazing for those who it was directly aimed towards tesla lovers and most of us are pretty needy. We LOVED it. You say Tesla needs better marketing all they have is the best selling car in the world but ya you know better. It’s Apple that needs a 3hour marketing campaign with the most polish and presentation since they have to convince people to buy the same damn phone year after year. Tesla is creating the future and their products speak for themselves which is why the only people complaining about the event are ignorant people who are already biased and didn’t attend. Haven’t heard a single bad thing from people that were actually there

Well. At least it wasn't the typical auto event where a balsa wood mock up finished off with some clay is carefully inched out on its Plynth to be the latest "concept car" that will never be built...or even turn a wheel.

Seems obvious to me! No other propulsion system can run as efficiently on renewable energy.

If any of these "experts" were truly intelligent and listened to Elon's future plans they would instantly "Get it". Tesla is an engineering and AI hub specializing in factory efficiency, cost control and mass scale. These expert "toads" have to be spoon fed like a toddler. It's laughable at this point the ridiculous skeptics, like nothing has ever been achieved. All skeptics do now is just loose bets that Tesla is failing at everything. If they were so dam smart why haven't they started their own private company, solved the flaws in Tesla and take over in market dominance.
