As you know, I was able to attend the event and actually did a video on my ride in a cyber cab in detail for the interior, but what I believe will be part of the design is the steer by wire has a force feedback steering wheel that can be bolted onto any of those vehicles for right hand drive for left-hand drive And it makes it easy to design the cyber cab for a low-cost Tesla, simply by adding pedals and a steering wheel and that’s the only change you’ll see so I believe the lower cost will ultimately be made from the cyber cab

Quite possibly. I'd imagine a few more creature comforts necessary, i.e. fully adjustable seats, door pockets, glove box etc. No rear window/mirror though? No doubt a camera would suffice, but I'd imagine 4 doors and glass roof would be necessary for a mass selling compact Tesla. Same platform, different shell I recon.

About the only one I can think of that was available at the time was the SmartCar. Why is it so difficult for some to understand? The cybercab is a two seater for most rides. If you need more, you can request a robotaxi model 3 or model y etc. Just like the event showed. It had several different vehicles with different numbers of seating running autonomously.
@TeslaJigsawАй бұрын
Simple hey?
@lukenoble8613Ай бұрын
@ThomasHawkwood so why not create a new cheaper vehicle rather than make a vehicle as purely a taxi? The public wants a cheap Tesla. This was that opportunity. It still could have been a taxi whilst being sold to people who just want to own one. Because it has no Pedals and no wheel. It now needs to get approval. Which may never happen. So why build this? Why not build this with a wheel and know it goes on the road and has greater mass adoption? Why limit it to wireless changing? Why no door handles? Who can legally own one? Because you won't technically need a licence. So a kid could own one. Cmon. There are so many things I can destroy any argument you have. Answer a few of those questions and I'll either back down and accept it as I'm wrong. Or I'll prove you are an idiot.
@nguyep4Ай бұрын
@lukenoble8613 Tesla will make a cheaper model. They don't want to reveal it until it is nearest to production. If people know, let's say $27k is coming out in 9 months or x days, who would buy Model 3 or Y? This will reduce their sale for the current models immediately.
@daShadoSageАй бұрын
@@nguyep4interesting thought. But i doubt this. People are just as likely to just get a different car instead of waiting for one never coming. For example, the disabled and elderly use cabs more than most but they'll struggle getting in a small 2 seater. Autonomous vehicles will also never cure traffic jams, certainly not by his dream of building millions more cars. The real elephant in the room is autonomy and Tesla being unable to do it. I am convinced that these journalists are not very intelligent. I watched the event and it actually showed items being placed into the boot. If journalists have not actually watched anything and made up all of this (as usual) it is just demonstating their stupidity. A taxi could maybe take 3 passengers as one could sit next to the driver. You can't always fit 3 people in the back, with so many shapes and sizes of car seats and people. I think having a much more comfy seat is a winnner. Tesla are a long way towards providing the future they are demonstrationg and keep pushing boundaries.

One thing I've not heard anyone mention is, with a large fleet of Tesla model 3s and Ys already out there, why is there a need for a new 2 seater, I would have thought the running costs for a model 3 and Y would only be slightly less than the new 2 seater, is 1 or 2 miles per Kw and a slightly lower price going to make that much of a difference? you could potentially lose 10% efficiency by charging wirelessly, would the market reach saturation point? how many taxis are really needed? Will enough people switch from owning a car to using robotaxis for it all to make sense, I'm sure there is a need and it will work, but I've not heard anyone have a stab at doing the numbers
@Joe-420-69Ай бұрын
There was 288k yellow cabs/taxi's in the USA alone as of 2022. there are 7.1 million registered Uber drivers. If Tesla can find a market by selling to existing taxi companies it will be worth it. But to sell them, maybe Tesla needs to start their own fleet to scare them into buying. These will be 30-40% cheaper to build than a model 3 or Y, so cheaper for Tesla to roll out. As for wireless charging these are not like phone chargers. EV wireless chargers are between 92-94% efficient most are 150kw but 300kw are coming online. Many high powered cabled chargers are not as efficient.
