There is NOTHING in this video which details the difference between the two truck. Thumbs down. and why are technical videos always accompanied by electronica geek music?

Here’s an idea; existing, proven diesel/electric technology already in use in locomotives, scaled down and wrapped up in a Peterbuilt 359.

would look and sound cool :-) ...but wouldn't make sense for companies to buy :-(

Sounds more promising and realistic to me than pure electric (at this point in time, at least). I think NASA also used it for the vehicle that transported spacecraft? Maybe the generators are too heavy for it to be viable on semis, but I'm no engineer lol

The Peterbuilt Wal-Mart Truck reminds me of the Truck Sam J Jones drove in the 1980s TV Series "The Highwayman"! When the Wal-Mart truck's 'cab', tilted forward, I half-expected that the thing was going to 'convert' to "Helicopter- mode!"

I have yet to see the walmart truck(s) anywhere on the road. Most likely hype and PR or to get a green award then ditch the project. Happens all the time the public sees this part but never hears when the company pulls the plug months later.

Too bad people are focusing more on how these trucks look rather than what's actually driving them. The details in the description aren't great either. They both look like shit to me, but I find Walmart's turbine engine more interesting (like Ford's Big Red, but newer?). I would like to see which is more effective at a constant and sustained speed, such as on the highway. Which one can go further without stopping for fuel or a charge? I'm no trucker, but I assume that staying on the road (MPGe, drivability, maintenance, etc.) is just as important as torque. I hear Teslas are a bitch to get repaired, but I also don't know of any turbine mechanics in my area LOL "The use of a hybrid powertrain allows the turbine to remain at optimum operating revolutions per minute (RPM), while the electric motor/energy storage handles acceleration and deceleration." Does this mean that the Walmart truck would have similar acceleration capabilities as the Tesla? What are the benefits of throwing a turbine into the mix? Even with how old this video is, I can't find much information about these two vehicles.

I think battery operated trucks and other vehicles are a bad idea in my opinion because the battery cells will start to loose charge within 1 year because they are lithium ion I agree that they will save the planet interms of immersions but the companies should use different electric engines instead of lithium ion
It's a Peterbilt Truck with a Walmart lettering . China is 5 yrs ahead of the US. Even Europe is ahead. Ev buses, vans and small trucks. Why? Because in the citys there is more traffic and Air pollution. These Semi are over the road where smog is not an issue. In most major cities semi i s are ban from the downtown. China are building EV garbage trucks too. It is so funny how Americans know so little about the world and how it works. China went from never leaving your village, to bikes, ecno box cars and dirty diesels in 60 yrs. Now cities bigger then N.Y, high speed trains, e bikes/scooters and starting the conversion to E cars and Buses. The Smog is deadly, but china is the biggest produces of lithium ion batteries and all types of EVs. The gov. already banned ICE cars and owns EV co.s and underwriting other EV. co. China is the largest producer of Solar panels. China is shipping them to us, because they are working of more efficient renewable energy sources. Here American buy our junk so we can develop the latest technology. Lol
