This is great to hear! I havent noticed any clear performance loss in my 22' S Plaid after a year and a half of ownership according to my Dragy testing and sotp testing :) My tesla 3 performance however definitely lost performance and range after 3 years/40000 miles. 0-60 and 1/4 lost three 10ths (et) consistently 3 mph slower. It clearly felt slower too. The Plaid doesn’t seem to be degrading like the past Teslas.

I haven’t seen any of your videos for awhile until this one. It’s nice to see that the Plaid is still knocking off some impressive times. That .005 light was pretty decent. It would be great to see battery weight drop dramatically. 👍Welcome back! Even after 26 months of racing the Plaid, and over 700 dragstrip runs, it has very rarely been below 50%. Just twice that I can remember. So half the battery would work for me, but only if that pack had twice the output power per cell to compensate for half the number of cells.

@TeslaPlaidChannel9 ай бұрын
👍Thanks! At the dragstrip, we’ve run six 9.20s in a row many times, starting around 93% and going down to 75% (3% per pass). 86% is plenty to run the Plaid’s fastest pass. Does yours have the Pirelli P Zeros of the exact same type as when new? Too many owners go with something cheaper and they don’t perform the same. Our original set are STILL going strong after more than 850 dragstrip runs and 19K miles. Temperature is also important. As shown in our newest video posted today, cold tires and/or track will hurt quite a bit. And whatever you do, don’t drive the Pirellis when under 45 degrees out. Summer tires may crack, and there’s no warranty for this.
@TeslaPlaidChannel9 ай бұрын
And with your Dragy, it should be easy to tell if power was pulled. The 60-ft should be in the 1.50s or better, and the 330-ft should be 4.10 or better 👍

After over 700 runs, we’ve found the fastest runs to be right at the moment that it says “Peak Performance Ready”, and it gets slower after that. While you can mod a gas car to be faster than a Plaid, unless you do the hard math to keep it from slipping/swerving all over the track/blowing the power train, they’re inconsistent. Plaids are going for ~$80k and run sub 9.5s every day of the week. There’s really no better value.

This was a Test N Tune event. I own the maroon ZL1. Lots of variables at play including tire pressures, timing retards, launch rpm’s, aftermarket traction control, suspension settings etc etc etc. I was not “racing” this Plaid or even paying attention to him. Simply collecting data on a car that was built…… not bought. I was also testing the stopping power of the newly installed Aerospace Components drag brakes. Moreover, Bradenton is known for amazing track prep, but not on a Test N Tune night for a blower car with 900 ft lbs of trq that is instantly available off the dig.

We could make solo passes and line up with 10+ second cars, but what fun is that? We find 8- and 9- second cars and try to talk to their drivers beforehand, hoping for some friendly gearhead competition (just like the two Supra drivers on this night). It's managing and adjusting the battery temperature. The battery has an "optimum" temperature it can most effectively discharge at. Using the heat pump for the HVAC and the radiator it can either cool or put heat into the battery pack to get it into the most efficient temp for performance. I've noticed, and Andrew can comment on this, if he comes right from the supercharger with a warm battery and he's at 90+% it's usually only a couple mins for it to be peak performance. Alternatively prob like this vid he didn't charge right before the track and he's 80ish% it takes longer for the system to condition the battery. Prob putting heat into it.
@TeslaPlaidChannel Жыл бұрын
👍That’s correct. Lately we’ve been getting to the track early and with less charge, so the battery has fully cooled down by the time of our first race

And from what I'm seeing, no matter what the Plaid is fast, but you get that little bit extra if you finish this prep procedure. The closer to finishing the better, but it doesn't make a whole lot of difference. It'll still smoke nearly everything with no prep at all.

The problem is on test and tune nights with regular street cars running normally the prep is crap.
@TeslaPlaidChannel Жыл бұрын
Thankfully BMP is widely known for their excellent prep after every round of cars, even on TnT nights. That’s why we are usually talking about how many cars have been down since the last re-prep, because we all know that street tires (and noobs in Hellcats spinning their stock tires halfway down the track) destroy even the best prep. This track is smart to run the fastest cars and drag tires and bikes first, then the street tire cars must go last before the next reprep 👍

... and while you're recharging, we're still racing. Laugh until I cry !!!
@TeslaPlaidChannel10 ай бұрын
Fact: We’ve got almost 2000 Tesla timeslips and we’ve never once recharged at the dragstrip. Never even had to charge on the way home. Not once. The joke is on you! 🤣 You should be crying alright! (from the sadness that comes with ignorance 🥲)
@TeslaPlaidChannel10 ай бұрын
Yet that kind of ignorance dies hard. While the other 9-second cars sit and have to “cool down” for long periods, we’re still racing. We’ve raced TWENTY runs in one night. No other 9-second car does that. As for charge, the Plaid only uses 2-3% per run. So even 20 runs uses less than 60%. We always get home without stopping and we wave 👋 at our gas-driving buddies as they have to stop for fuel (usually late at night, dealing with homeless and panhandlers) Your pitiful attempt to put EVs down only backfired because of your ignorance of the facts. You've never actually been to a dragstrip before, have you? 🤔

No drama and breakdowns, that’s for sure. We made 1800+ runs without a single broken part. How many cars running 9s or 10s can say that? None, obviously. No oil changes or spark plugs either. Rear wheel drive is a handicap!
@clintway116 Жыл бұрын
Look into records, they will say otherwise. There is a reason many of the fast gtrs swap to rwd. It's a handicap to people who don't do the suspension work to handle the power or can't tune what they've got. In 2021, gtr world record 1/4 mile was set at 6.51 @230mph. It is rwd. Hell, people run rwd radial cars Into the 6 second zone on tiny little 235 tires.

@@TeslaPlaidChannel Come on man, you are taking that comment way too serious. Petrol cars are no good for my fishing trips due to the range either, i still have one of those as well. My wifes next car may well be electric as it suits her needs. The Plaid is a good example of how far electric cars have come in a relatively short space of time.
