Thanks Yeah its actually not too bad, helps if you don't bend the spindle with heat lol but all in all it was ok to do Hardest part without a doubt is removing the top spindle pulley

Thanks, yeah go for it, as said to others, hardest part is removing the spindle pulley then after that its straight forward

@@kinzy_fabrications Mine isn't a Haas spindle, so removing the pulley is the easy part, and there's no shrink fit sleeves in it either (there's threaded lock nuts). But my bearings are permanently grease lubricated, so contamination is probably a bigger issue. The "air+oil" flowing through the spindle doesn't seem like the best design decision to me - it's easy to introduce contaminants through either the air or oil supply being fed in. I can see using an air purge out the labyrinth seals to keep anything from getting into the spindle both on the top and the bottom without flowing anything through the bearings, but unless both the air and oil supply is filtered, flowing more matter THROUGH the spindle bearings seems a bit risky. Maybe that's why they don't design them that way anymore?

I think you tester for draw bar force has a certain diameter, surface area piston, so it has to calculate the spring force with the graphs provided. If the piston inside the tool was say 4" dia. the gauge reading would be lower. Much more surface area of the piston in that case.

@Panzax1 Hi No problem I haven’t used every vice out there but compared to the likes of Gerardi, Lang, Kurt then I think these Hilma are in a league of their own but that’s just my opinion

If you buy them definitely get the pre setter for the vice as well, not too expensive but gives you 6 clamp settings
