@@ClassicPromenade I drove a 39 Chevy years ago, it sounded like I suffering dinosaur and drove even worse. I guess I was wrong in using that experience to judge all cars of this vintage.

Interesting. I take it this is automatic transmission. Being from the UK I have never driven an automatic transmission car despite driving for over 40 years now.

Actually, Packard didn’t introduce an automatic transmission until 1948. This is a three speed manual.
