Terrific "2-seater" My Father was given a 1968 AMX loaner"with a 343 4-speed, by a Chevorlet dealership while waiting for his car to be fixed. The car was very quick. Certainly impressed my father..a-lot!...... P.S..... We briefly owned a 1960 Rambler back in 1967.......

Usually not a fan of putting a Chevy engine in a non-Chevy vehicle, but I think it makes sense in this case. AMC is just SO hard to find replacement parts for anymore. Very nice car and a decent price!

I am a GM guy but I would never ruin an AMC or Mopar with a GM engine. A modern hemi would have been less insulting. You can get everything for an AMC engine. I have a 68 AMX I am restoring and the 343 was easily rebuilt.

Digging the tail lights the dash and the shifter. Sounds like it has a aggressive cam and likes to be driven on the fun side. Surprised it hasn't sold already. I can't remember the last time I saw one of these in person. Wish I had the money. Videos just keep getting better.

NO FREAKIN WAY!!!!😍 The javelin is my "unicorn" dream muscle car! And the amx is the cherry on top javelin 😊 I absolutely love these cars not only because you don't see many of them but because they are just flat out bad @$$! The baddest one I have ever seen was built by the ring brothers and till this day I will ALWAYS want one! This is a nice ride right here and my favorite color🥰🤌🏼

I personally like the cherry bomb exhaust. Sounds like 50pct of the cars in the parking lot when I was in high school. You could get old Chevelle's and Monte Carlos dirt cheap. A pair of glass packs and some used Cragers and you where cool for 1000$ or less

@SCU- DUB i never had a flowmaster muffler, but i have thought of getting one. I have heard of the flowmaster FX too, but only see them run on youtube. Some say flowmasters drones too much. Flowmasters even have a economy muffler called "Flow Monster", and some say they sound similar to the original Flowmaster. I like a good sound, but with minimal drone where i can still hear my radio. I have also thought of getting a "Jones Exhaust 2 Chamber Flow Deflector Muffler " ( 1 in and 2 out) somewhere down the line.

Lowery trust me I know about droning lol it's so annoying to spend alot of money on an exhaust system only to have it sound good at lower rpms and as soon as you hit the highway it sounds like a semi engine braking lol I have a buddy that put a paradox "hot tamale" muffler on his car and it sounds great and he said he doesn't get any droning....I just love how flowmasters sound deep and muffled but has that humming sound....to me they make any size v8 sound like it's race ready lol dome guys love magnaflow and they sound good too don't get me wrong but....its hard to explain the sound flowmasters give but I have went with them on almost every custom car I have had not gonna lie I put some on my 86 landau caprice and it had the stock 5.0 "305" and I swear people thought I was running something mean lol....

With the factory 390, these were screamers back in the day. Similar styled Javelin (longer with backseat) was more commonly seen on the streets, even with 6 cyl. engines.

@@FDT000 The paper work says it's punched out to a 383 they are usually good for 400 horse power or more and it has a 4 speed automatic and they have a low first gear. Not to mention they bothered to put a Ford 9 inch as well. A generic 350 it is not sans headers which would be hard to find.

327 were not offered on the AMX or the Javelin . 290, 360 , 390 , maybe the 343 . Car doesn’t look cut up so you could always go back to original. I have both a all original AMX and Chev powered Javelin SST .

My concern would be rust damage to the unibody. I would love to know what the car's origine was .Go package,? Build options ? 290 - 390 V8 ?The AMC 390 V8 is a strong piece with its forged steel crank and connecting rods. The 390 -401 engines will safety support 600 hp without much in the way of modifications. ARP rod bolts, shoot peening the rods,etc Valve train mods,etc,single plane intake,etc.

The AMC Javelin was more closely related to the Camaro, Mustang, Firebird etc. Than the AMX. The first three years of the AMX were 2 seaters and their focus tended towards being partway between a Camaro and a Corvette of the era.

That 383 stroker sounds awesome! My ‘85 Corvette has a 383 stroker w/ Trickflow aluminum heads, Hedman headers, true dual exhaust but the cam specs are unknown. Almost as loud and nasty as this AMC AMX, beautiful car.
