In 1970, I was 16,just bought my first car blue metallic 1967 Camaro, 327 4 speed....was being prepped, owner asked me to join him for a test drive of maroon 1968 L88 Corvette 4 speed....that car was fast, engine so hot your feet were warm on the floorboards....2nd gear front end nearly left the ground....if I could afford the insurance I would have taken the Corvette. Same year my cousin was selling his 1962 Corvette 327 4 speed....but insurance was more than what he was selling the car for, and at 16 I was working at min wage job....we had no garage and that car deserved a garage. Those were the days of real muscle cars.

Love late 60s Vettes, this being a Big Block makes it more desirable for me anyway, looks the part and sounds good, some work still needed but i think overall not too bad, this car in New Zealand with matching numbers would sell for around NZ $70-90k.

We never had cars as beautiful and modern as this in the UK during the 1960s. We had incredibly old fashioned and embarrassing cars like the Morris Minor, Morris Oxford and Austin Cambridge, to mention just a few.
