Hi. I just bought an Optimate4 for my BMW R1250GS. After selecing the correct mode (Program 4 for LFP+Canbus) and connecting it to the DIN socket of the bike, I get charging and after some hours the Optimate shows a solid red LED (Number 8). The manual says that this solid LED indicates the battery is not holding a charge. But the bike is brand new and the battery is brand new and fully charged. Does this have something to do with the automatic alarm being turned on? Or does the Canbus system turn off? Is the Optimate4 working properly? Thanks!

@@OptiMateCan you please just answer here as I have the exact same thing with my R1300GS that is brand new and owned 2 days now

If you own a R1300GS motorcycle with a lithium battery, there's a chance it might have a quirk where it turns off the charging port after getting an initial charge. If you try to charge it again for maintenance purposes, it might drain the battery faster than it can recharge. However, there has been a recall for some R1300GS. For our part, we have successfully upgraded the charger software, and the charger can be updated to work perfectly on the GS1300 with lithium battery (LFP). For your OptiMate 4 Quad Program charger, it's recommended to connect it directly to the battery using the OptiMate O-01 battery lead if you have a R1300GS with a lithium battery. This method won't activate the motorcycle's system unnecessarily. Fit the O-01 battery lead, select program 3 (LFP) and then charge direct to battery. Alternatively, if you prefer, the charger can be reprogrammed. Please contact us at: sales@tecmate-int.com

@Mangold We still keep it simple and as easy to use as possible, this means color coded information: Green = good to go.

@@OptiMate simple for the factory but not so simple for the user.

@@OptiMate I took it off from charge now and it's back on red,and this battery did charge for the last 2 days now

Hi Hein, make sure you take that battery out of your vehicle first. At this point your battery can't hold its charge, if it's not the vehicle then the problem is in the battery itself and the charger can't help it.

New Optimate 6 user. LED 6 & 7 are flashing (red & yellow) along with the blue LED in the Amp Bar so what does that mean, everything I've found mentions static lights not flashing??? I have looked everywhere for this answer but cannot find it.

So, what does yellow and green light at the same time mean? Does this mean the battery is fully charged? M
@OptiMate11 ай бұрын
Hi! Is your battery an STD type with filler cap? Then the yellow and green test results are indeed an indication that your battery is fully charged. If it's not an STD type with filler cap, for any test result other than green, disconnect the battery from the electrical system it supports and reconnect the OptiMate. If a better test result is now obtained, this indicates that the power losses are partly due to an electrical problem in the electrical system and not the battery itself. If the test result does not improve, it means the battery cannot hold sufficient charge.

Does the green light on the right upper corner blink on Optimate 7, while it testing the battery after charge?
@OptiMate2 жыл бұрын
Hi, yes, a blinking green test light on our previous OptiMate 7 chargers means 'TEST after charge'. The delivery of current to the battery is interrupted for 30 minutes to allow the program to determine the battery's ability to retain charge.

@@OptiMate But now I own 7 select gold model. Does it blink the same way?

No, this LED on the OptiMate 7 GOLD model doesn't blink.
