For me, the "approach slowly" helped me answer the 27th question. Why would a man approach slowly in this case? He's either sick or feeling guilty/filled with shame. A stubborn man wants to fight for his position/belief so he wouldn't walk slowly

Thanks for all the videos first of all. But I like to point out: How didactic is condescending? I think more close would be student centred, even if I have to choose. Didactic: intended to teach, particularly in having moral instruction as an ulterior motive. Condescending: having or showing an attitude of patronizing superiority. My score was 28, because of the wrong question I will score myself 29. Am I already teaching or what? :P :P Please put a footnote or something. Thanks. Otherwise, you are doing great.
@gregmat80365 жыл бұрын
If you Google ‘didactic,’ you’ll see the definition ‘in the manner of a teacher, especially in a patronizing way.’ ‘Condescending’ and ‘patronizing’ are synonymous.

@@gregmat8036 Oh, I do agree but it's generally less known meaning of the word. It is the first time I have come across through you. Even in GRE question I solved the meaning frequently used is what I mentioned above. But thanks for teaching me, another meaning of the word. Keep up the good work.

14:47 Aggrandize - I chose B, Google defines it as increase the power, status, or wealth of.. :( Not sure who's correct here
@_balancingact3 жыл бұрын
I think in this case it is just about the context in which the word was used. Google is absolutely correct but so is Greg because to inflate your reputation is, in a sense, to increase your status in the eyes of others. Is it not? But you're right, it is confusing. I suspect Greg put both the options in for that exact reason.
For 14: isn't foolhardy synonymous with audacious?
@violetlavi22072 жыл бұрын
Late response, but not necessarily! Doing something foolhardy doesn't require bravery, but having audacity (being audacious) is inherently brave/bold, just not in a positive way

@gregmat80365 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, I learned vocabulary through years of reading, which most people cannot do when they are studying for the GRE. Memorizing vocabulary from the list is not easy, but necessary for GRE. There is still a lot of debate about the best way to learn vocabulary. It probably depends a lot on individual characteristics as well.
