I dont trust VW reliability. Had new VW and Audi, both had problems straight out the showroom. Not good enough. I also wish car makers would stop this ridiculous rear end design where the bumper trim is made to look like big exhausts. Nothing more than pretentious crap. I would be embarrassed to be seen in a car like that, pretending I've got big exhausts. Mercedes are the biggest culprit. Do they think other drivers will think its real ? Sadly it seems that car makers are becoming drawn into a world where style over substance is more important. Perceived image is everything to a lot of buyers, even if its tacky, so long as its flashy, thats all that matters.

If economy is the objective then go for the TDI at least it has a bit of Poke and still manages to be economical , And Likewise if out right performance is what a buyer wants then it’s a GTI or R . If your a peasant like me and A Ford fan You’d love the RS but can only afford the ST🤣 . sure a Golf gti is better but so is the price .

blardmann cool. im not really a big lover of diesels, i respect there powerful especially on the roll, and economical, but i dont like the engine noise, i dont do many miles so economy isnt a necessity , however if i wanted something really economical i wouldnt go near a 1 litre, its ok for old ladys and school run mums who dont drive hard, but once you get heavy footed with it , itll be slow and un economical , so for that reason my choice would be the tdi.

I was driving towards Moradabad (UP) few days back, my car stopped suddenly, I stopped the car and wait for 10 minutes, again I started the car but it did not start. I took the car to Volkswagen authorized service center atWolgswagen Moradabad, they had no clue what has happened they kept on saying that they are checking, after two days they are saying head is broken and pistons are damaged due to overheating. They were clueless and opened my car parts completely, and charged me heavily for just inspecting. Now my question is how come this has happened without any warning light. This is a premium hatchback and I expect it to have this basic feature of overheating warning which is present in cars worth half of polo’s price. It’s surprising that a moder engine can self destruct with ZERO warning, I bought this car because of the (German) engine only.

@TESTDRIVEFREAK6 жыл бұрын
Nothing weak, at last gear with light uphill and 4 people on board and it has still power
@m1rchegfn6 жыл бұрын
I don't think that even the 85hp model feels weak, because of the higher torque from the turbocharger. Engines are small, but they are punchy because of those turbos.
@Horizon301.6 жыл бұрын
m1rchegfn yeah only inexperienced people think that. I have driven a 75ps 1.4tdi on the polo and the torque honesty makes it pretty similar to the 1.6tdi. Most of the haters are Americans with their bug engines
@m1rchegfn6 жыл бұрын
I think that it's enough punchy for daily driving in the city. Also, highway cruising on 100-120kmh should be okay. However, it's not that powerful for overtaking, but then again, which engine with ~100hp is powerful for that? Go for the 1.5 TSI 150hp if you need that, or 2.0 TDI 150hp. That would be the ultimate highway cruiser.
@Horizon301.6 жыл бұрын
m1rchegfn trust me even the 75ps diesels manage it. I’m sure the petrols aren’t that bad? I live in the countryside and you can easily overtake at 40-60mph or even from a stop and overtake with no issues. VW engines are surprising to say the least as any other engine tends to be underpowered and struggle. GM with their Vauxhall/Opel engines is an example of where their 1.2’s are a pile of crap

That's like saying "I should only get 2 hours of battery and terrible performance on my smartphone because smartphones from 10 years ago with this amount of power SUCKED! Therefor this phone sucks too!". As the years go by more and more refinements are made, so what seemed like a tiny engine just a couple decades ago that could barely power a go-kart now competing with 6+ liter V8 engines from decades past seems absurd, but it's just the way the cookie crumbles.
