Highly disagree with these pampered rich people about their opinions about this car,I drive a 2018 compass my self the limited version in Jazz blue and it’s a great car 👍don’t listen to what anyone says it’s comfy got room the displays very user friendly and unique and it’s very stylish inside and outside I’ve put about 12k miles on mine already and not a single issue great car

Overall one of the best sub compact SUVs out there. In terms of the cabin noise I disagree, I got mine last year and compared with my previous cars (Audit Q3 and Audi TT) the cabin noise and rattles are minimal (no worse than the noice in any other luxury SUVs like XC40 or RR Evoque).

Oh and one more point mine doesn't rattle after I got it first thing I did was put goodyear assurance triple treads on it and the ride got even better!

Another good review, as always Sam. We have the fwd Lattitude, noticed more power after 3k miles, when broken in. Good around town. Ours is quiet around town. No off road and it works well.

The sweet spot for this is the Latitude at $24-26k. The value of loaded models is always subjective--you can always jump up to the base model of the next larger car, depending on your preferences.

Tried it out last week and it felt tiny and small cargo area, I'm 6'4" tall so for that money and mpg plus resale value I chose the Subaru Outback.

Texan Boi I plan on it! No more traveling to the US and I closed my manufacturing plant in Kentucky in July. I still have a few friends in the US but I don't see them much anymore with their grandkids ruling their lives. Canada is bigger than the US and nice weather too!

Wanting to get the 2018 Jeep Compass Limited and I love the look of the exterior, the interior and how much space it has inside! Only thing I really want to know is how good is it on gas? And I’ve also heard different things about the touch screen in the car that it freezes a lot or won’t turn on. But other than that I’m excited to get it!

I got the 2018 Trailhawk. If you watch your gas mileage gauge while driving you can easily get the 22 to 30 mpg

Only had the touch screen freeze up once due to pressing too many icons at once and you just shut off car and turn it back on

Bought my 18 Compass LTD FWD and really like it. I drove others in this size range and preferred the Compass. There is a huge difference in ride and handling between the 18 and 19” wheels. Smoother ride with the smaller tires But WAY BETTER handling with the 19’s on mine. I don’t need 4WD, so the larger wheels/tires is better for me. Also, the 6 speed auto is a much better match to the engine than the 9 speed that comes with the 4WD. Smother shifts and livelier performance. I have no rattles in my Compass and didn’t hear any in the other Compasses that I drove while shopping. I think Sam must have had a dud. I’m averaging about 27 MPG with mixed driving. This is my 2nd Jeep. I had a Renegade too. Both have/had very good build quality and fit/finish is/was good too. Another thing that Sam doesn’t mention is that with the Jeep, you can pick and choose several items/options as stand-alone options. Example : panoramic roof, wheels, speaker upgrades/safety items. Jeep doesn’t make you buy an overloaded/expensive package like the competitors.

B W I just bought a 2017 Jeep Compass sport (2.0L 4Cyl) and I must say I don't really see where all the hate for Jeep comes from. Literally everyone talks mad shit about them but I personally haven't had an issue yet. My only con with it is the transmission could have been built better as you can feel the gear changes in the 6 speed auto, but other than that it has been a superb daily driver/weekend camper.

C. LeBlanc , the only thing I wish that I could have gotten on mine is the LED lighting/projector headlights. Could t find a dealer near me that had one. I’ll update the bulbs to compensate. My 6 speed auto shifts great, no troubles or harshness. My biggest gripe has been the Auto Stop/Start. I know it serves a purpose but I hate having to push the damned button every time I get in.

Im surprised you didn't do your usual off road test with it Sam..at a minimum you always test with the two wheels off the ground. As others have stated below, for that money I would pass. Good review.

I LOVE MY 2018 LIMITED COMPASS 4X4.IT RUNS QUIET AND SMOOTH.THE ONLY THING ABOUT IT THAT IT HAS NOT ALOT OF ROOM IF YOUR A OLDER OUT OF SHAPE OLD MAN.NO SUNGLASS HOLDER.NO PLACE FOR YOUR PHONE.YOU CANT FOOL AROUND WITH YOUR GIRLFRIEND IN THAT CAR WITHOUT GETTING A CRAMP.BUT OTHER THAN I LOVE IT WHEN IM BY MYSELF.

I got the compass trailhawk back in july. My jeep has the panoramic sun roof, beets audio system and nav. For 34k. As far as mph goes first week was only 18mph by the 2nd and 3rd week I was at 22mph and now that I have had it for about 2 months I'm at 24mph combined city/highway. This is my first suv but I do have to agree with the 4 of 5 stars over all score just don't agree with how he came up with some of the ratings.

The Compass wasn’t their first crossover. The Grand Cherokee has always been unibody/crossover.

A "crossover" is typically defined as a sport utility built on a car based chassis (mostly FWD/AWD format) shared with other models but with a slightly taller profile. The first generation Cherokees of the 1980s were not this, rather a unibody SUV which had solid axles and running gear shared with the Wrangler. The AMC Eagles were closer to a "crossover" but that term didn't exist back then.

Im asking myself the same question, I just bought a '17 Compass Sport and so far I love it. I'm starting to think all the hate for Jeep comes from biased fan boys of Ford, Chevrolet, Toyota, etc., like one of the commenters said test drive it and see if YOU like it(if you're an outdoors guy, and love camping I'd say you can't go wrong. Hell I lay the back seats flat and put an air mattress over them and into the cargo area. It makes one comfy tent!!) I love my Compass and most importantly my wife loves it too Lmao. ✌🏻

Yanni Looking good I literally was about to pull the trigger on a '17 Audi Q3 when my wife saw the Compass. We drove it and it just felt right. I'm still thinking about that Audi though lol 😂

The Q3 its overall an ok vehicle problem with me was, it never felt like a proper SUV more like an oversized A3. Driving wise it was standard Audi, good quality but a bit boring. In terms of Jeep I just love the looks and the driving position, it feels like a proper SUV and i dont know what the dude on the video is on about but it i dont get any cabin noise, it feels as good as any other luxury compact suv i ve driven. Also the engine (1.4 170hp Multiair Petrol) is Fiat's most reliable used on Alfas for a number of years with no problems plus the 9 speed transmission (love it or hate it) is German (ZF) the same used by Land Rover on Evoque and Mercedes on GLA.

The final score seemed pretty generous to me given the overall tone of the review. Seems like he wasn't really impressed with it at all and for sure didn't sound like a vehicle he would spend his own money on. I think 3/5 would have been more than fair. For that price, get a 4Runner SR5 and don't look back.

First....how does he give it 4 stars with so many complaints ? Seems like a 3 based on his comments . Second...as for harsh ride and noise ...much of that can be attributed to those 19 inch wheels and low profile tires . You can get a much better ride and less noise and save $900 by sticking with the standard Limited 18 inch wheels . You can also get a Limited without adding more bells and whistles for around $28 k ( with typical incentives ) which is way better than paying $34 k he mentioned . I have driven two of these and found them to be very tight and quiet . Not sure why his was rattly . Maybe it has been beat on or maybe it has some loose components in the front . In my opinion the design of the Compass and it's comfort make it a good choice for the money . But then , design is King with me .

Typical FCA junk. 4 out of 5 stars is generous, to say the least. You hammered it appropriately when it came to fundamental things like the chassis and powertrain. Maybe you should weight those categories differently for the final rating so a strong infotainment score doesn't prop up an otherwise lackluster vehicle.
