Nice vid. Makes me glad I bought the Rav4 Hybrid. Easy to achieve EPA rated mileage and can surpass it with a little effort.

really nice reviews you keep-em coming please. I'm buying in December. maybe the rebates and end of year sales are better. also I'm leaning in the Lexus es AWD. but keep-em coming and I may change mine.

Good Review Sam..question...you mention the engine shutting off/on...is this part of the fuel saving package of the hybrid? Does this also shutdown the AC? In this (today) 120 degrees, Im curious to see if the car stayed cool for you in the off/on engine mode. Keep up the great work.

The gas engine in all hybrid cars cycles on and off, the electric motor driving the vehicle exclusively from time to time. This is how they safe fuel. In most all hybrid cars, the HVAC is an electric heat pump so it operates when the engine is off. Use of the AC does impact hybrid car mpg because it uses battery capacity that would otherwise drive the electric motor and allow the gas engine to work less.

What about the mogul test? You did it with the RAV4
@robgindc15 жыл бұрын
You didn't do the off road, off balance mogul test like you did with the Rav4 hybrid, where the rav failed to climb it. I anticipated that Rogue's mechanical awd would conquer the mogul. Might you update this review with that test, maybe including/comparing Mitsu Outlander PHEV awd? Thanks.

I think the 113 degrees is a factor in your fuel economy. Cars generally don't get the best gas mileage if it's really hot or cold outside.

We test cars all summer long here in Arizona and they are not all affected as this one was.

Beat me to the punch with this question! I was gonna say if you're running the A/C non stop, it will affect your gas mileage.

The roads you are using during the video look very much like open country roads. It doesn't suprise me, that a hybrid can't set itself apart in that setting. It is heavier after all, while the electric motor is not going to help you much under these circumstances. The Rouge should get significantly better fuel economy while driving in the city though. Did you have the chance to check on that?
@TestDrivenTV7 жыл бұрын
Our week of driving was primarily in the city. Our shooting location is not so much in the country but a park setting within the city. Unlike most hybrids, the Rogue performs better in highway driving however so your assumption would have been incorrect regardless, the vehicle would have performed better had we spent more time on freeways.
