I think the Alfa was the original design, so it's not a Dodge in an Italian suit, the Dodge is a Tonale with a cowboy hat on.

No these vehicles were designed and developed together. Sad truth is Alfa couldn’t invest in this without Dodge. Plus most Americans will take a chance with Dodge before a Alfa.

Just leased a black 2024 Tonale TI, $48500 sticker for $40000. Love it and the $7500 tax credit. And I do believe there is a smaller electric motor in the front also...so its AWD in electric Natural mode.

I had this as a rental car in Switzerland for 2 weeks. Driving experience was pretty good and interior was comfortable, but not on the same level of a Lexus RX (for a similar price). Nothing but problems with sensors and infotainment. Had daily cut-outs of ABS, cruise control, stability systems - whole dashboard lit up with yellow lights....especially in the rain. The nav screen went totally dark twice for several hours and needed a hard reset each time. Lots of time spent googling problems. Fun to drive, but #alphaproblems.

Tested this on a track - the front and back felt perfectly balanced. Even got a 4-wheel drift going. Driver issue here...

Were glad you had a positive experience with the Tonale. With a drivetrain like this it’s very possible for two of them to feel different, or for one bound for track testing to have been fine tuned for it prior to use. Both our guys experienced the same sensations independently and at different times. So consider that your experience and ours could both be true no matter the driver. Thanks for watching.

@@TestDriveVideos the answer is in the settings, the car in the test is set to charge the battery while running which can be turned off. that is why they are experiencing the disconnect and the high revving engine all the time.

You really can't turn off lane-keep assist? That would be an issue driving in the city. We often can't follow the lanes because there's so much road work year round. We also need to avoid pot holes and go around double parked cars and trucks.

At some moment Fangio competed with a green Chevrolet 1940 Coupe and won several titles with it. Therefore the green Fangio name for the colour.

Enjoyed your banter and perspectives. Fun video. Valid points, especially on its pricing. (Price point puts it too close to the Giulia and Stelvio.) Driving dynamics (finding the right balance) is something Alfa struggled with to get right; its release was even delayed because of this. But as you stated this is designed for everyday commuting around town. They're casting a wider net in hopes of bringing more people over to the brand, also aiming at the female market with this vehicle. It's been too slow coming to the US market, still not widely available at many Alfa Romeo dealerships yet.

you needed to watch the tutorial videos. (and there is a lot of them) You can turn the battery charging option off on the performance tab under hybrid. The lane keeping assist can be completely shut off on the left side of the steering wheel on the cruise control button panel... or was it a button on the top of the signal light stalk? And yes, I do own a Tonale, great drivetrain, but my issues have been with the uconnect5 having some gremlins. I probably need to see some more tutorials 🤔

Only good thing about this thing is the paint! Yes! I’m there. NOT! Wait for depreciation. It’ll be 15k in no time.

I couldn't stand being unable to turn off the lane-keep assist in the Toenail. I have to turn this off every time I drive my company-supplied Toyota Rav4 - it's bad enough that I can't disable it permanently.

Hi, from Japan!! Tonale must run smoothly on corners as long as it has Alfa’s badge. Todd’s voice is kind of different from normal. I hope I’m thinking too much.

I wonder if this would work better if Alfa was able to sell both powertrains and across the entire Hornet/Tonale price range without the Hornet present. Sure it's all Stellantis sales, and internally I'm sure Stellantis is giving brownie points to Alfa for each hornet sale. But when the Alfa sales are hamstrung purely from msrp to the hornet, imagine the rage from the Alfa engineers for their hard work. Brand perception by the public is important. Even if it's not perfect, this as a unique offering could have really boosted Alfa's as a 30-60k vehicle instead of 50-60k. Now it feels like Alfa is upselling a dodge. It's also not like Dodge's public image is really suffering here in the US: they're THE word on American Muscle.
@wbwayne8887 Жыл бұрын
Imo, Dodge got the better version. Even the base turbo model is getting favorable reviews in regards to performance/handling. Hopefully the same will hold true with the Hornet in RT trim.
@markcoopers1930 Жыл бұрын
@@wbwayne8887 I mean it's the same car. A handful of horsepower here and the little boost button are a neat touch but not really differentiators. And at the end of the day it's an Alfa product that they're forced to share with Dodge. I'm more surprised that they hadn't given Chrysler a de-tuned economy focused version. That would have helped differentiate the models significantly, and maybe even allowed the interiors to step up another notch.
@wbwayne8887 Жыл бұрын
@markcoopers1930 I am really shocked about that decision also. If anything the Alfa should have the highest performing powertrain between the 2 and a more premium interior in comparison to it's Dodge counterpart.

It still has the Jeep Compass shifter. $60k for a Compass is crazy. I don’t think the exterior looks Alfa great either. For $60k and you have to have an Alfa SUV, get the Stelvio. $60k goes a long way

At 11:57...If they came out with a "Quad" version the designation of "Veloce" would NOT be part of the name. Love that Alfa NAMES their cars unlike the illogical German Alphanumeric "M"350i Which is neither a 350i nor an "M" (which stands for MONEY !!).

Focus on the rear door where the waistline curves up, blocking rear passenger's visibility and makes the car looks ugly Now that is "downright stupid" as the late John Madden said during one of the NFL game 40 years or so ago.

Coming from an Alfisti who owned an Alfa 147 and now a Giulietta, I wouldn't buy this. It is a transitionary vehicle between gas and electric vehicles and it doesn't have a unique feeling that you typically get from Alfa. I would just wait for next generation.
@jdmj0 Жыл бұрын
If the interior was only befitting of its price point, I would have gotten one. at 10K cheaper, there are CUV/SUVs that provide far more tech and creature comfort for the price. AND it's plenty enough quick (mid 6s). Sadly a miss on Alfa's part.
