I drove a G500 a while back and I agree, the instant you drive it your opinion changes. It feels far more confident than it has any business feeling and just interacting with it... it exudes a sense of quality. It makes absolutely no sense, its dumb, but I absolutely want one.

I think Paul wouldn’t want to admit it but he is, not only Porsche, but also Mercedes fan at the heart. I remember in that AMG GTC video he said “this car is achingly beautiful“😂

I enjoyed Todd’s reaction to Paul’s confessions at the beginning. Is it nice? Of course it is. If I had that kind of money my bias would probably decrease. Overall the frank but organic discussion and chemistry you’ve gotten to are both informative and fun to watch.

Hi, from Japan!! Thank you for the heavenly sound of door slamming. Same thing is happening in Japan, too. Many rich people buy this G63. Just because they are rich so they buy Mercedes G63. That’s all. Most of them don’t use the car’s capabilities at all. Some of them even don’t know how much capabilities the car has. I think Mercedes know it but they continue to build the car because there are market and people buy it definitely. Thank you for fun videos, Todd and Paul!!

I picked mine up after a 2 year wait just before Easter here in the U.K ! Before I test drove it, I really wasn’t sure because the last G55 I drove looked great but was horrendous, I’m stepping out of a 2020 RS6. This thing is phenomenal, agree with everything Paul says … after I drove the new model was ‘How do I afford this’ .. anyhoos ….. kidneys having been sold …. I have it and it’s magnificent !

A vehicle that can go anywhere but one that you don't want to take off any road, like the Lexus LS 600. I wish MB offered a cheaper hard core version that you wouldn't hesitate to scratch. Just like I wish Toyota still offered (to the US) the Landcruiser. Instead, we get super expensive luxury mobiles that are never really used to the level they provide.

I’ve always thought the mirror design looks odd - should have been square as well, to fit with the old-school “look” but they’re clearly just slapped on from a modern era Merc mirror design. Otherwise, love the G-wagon a lot!!

as someone who asked for a photo of me in the drivers sit and was told to drive it it feels like i'm in control but i was scared of using it. the steering wheel was the softest thing ive ever touched 157k as basic is too much for me best day of my life so far though./

Great review! I agree this is an incredible truck, but also mostly bought for the "poser" factor which I am not a fan of. You are correct, Mercedes will keep making this truck at unbelievable margins because Americans will keep buying old tech/design just to say they drive a "G" class. This will probably be the last surviving vehicle in their lineup once EVs eat their lunch in a few years.
