Very subtle change, but I agree that the top end with the replacement bridge is a little dampened or milder. Depending on what you are looking for, this could be a small improvement or a small step in the wrong direction as well. Also, could the difference be made up from a small tone/EQ adjustment on an amplifier, pedal or even the tone pot on the guitar ?? The answer is yes.

I preferred the Gibson Bridge tone, as it was clearer and more articulate. The things I really like in your sound were lost when using the other bridge. It turned a great, dynamic sound into an average one.

What pickups are you using, and what is your signal channel? Your tone is amazing.

I just made this same change. Put a Faber bell brass bridge and their bridge posts on a Heritage H535. Could be my imagination but I swear the guitar sounds 50% better. I was pretty surprised. Harder to tell with distortion, but the difference is very noticeable playing clean.

ABM all brass bridge. Try it and you'll see. Also you need proper brass posts and thumbwheels, makes more of a difference than you'd think. Go with Royal Mount.

Hi Joey. Are you aware that your "Power Pentatonics" class is showing $85 on the main page, however when you click to purchase....the next page shows $99 and nowhere to enter your promo code? Just thought youd like to know. Love your videos 😁🤘👍🎸🎸🎶🎶🎶

I hear exactly what you say 👍 the new bridge seems to have less sustain but sounds definitely more vintage.

I dunno, I thought the St Helens sounded a little brighter and clearer. I tended to prefer it until you were arpeggiating, then it sounded a little brittle to the stock. My experience with bridges is a little different. I bought an SG that had no sustain. I don't remember how or why, but I found a company called Callham that makes bridges and I bought one and voila, the ax started singing. I don't remember thinking it sounded different, just that suddenly it found a mountain of sustain.

I like the Schwarz bridge better. But this seems like personal taste. Whether one intonates better than the other seems a bit more important overall.

I've several different Les Paul guitars that I've changed the ABR-1 Bridges on. Specifically, I've a Historic R9 Les Paul that I have a vintage recreation Bridge on. On another Les Paul I am using a solid steel (brass saddles) ABR-1, that Bridge provides a much brighter overall tonal profile. Much like yourself, I reach for a specific guitar depending on what I want to do, different Bridge materials on the same style guitar can provide a different tone. I think your description pretty much echoes my own experiences changing between a modern ABR-1 Bridge and a true Vintage/Vintage Spec. unit. Vintage spec components can be such a deep rabbit hole, over the years I've found that, while interesting, its best to avoid falling into these deep rabbit holes and instead spend more time just playing/practicing. LOL, I've been playing guitar for 50 years now and still refer to myself as a "Practicing Guitarist"! Great Content, Thank You

That is not right comparison. You need to replace everything, inc. posts and thumbweels. And the most difference is not in TOM. Try to replace the bridge, wich is made was aluminium originally in 50`s. I did comparison myself. And the difference is huge. I can't tell what configuration is better, but the difference is huge.

Standard bridge has more power, attack and character. The new bridge sounds mellow and a bit vanilla sounding but it does have much more sustain. Still for me the extra sustain is not enough to justify the (probably) high price of this mod and the loss of attack and body in the sound with the Standard bridge. SOME old guitars sound better because they're old and played a lot (and probably the wood was better - just like a Strad violin). It is not because of the bridge or tunners or strings. That does make some difference but it won't make a modern guitar sound like an old one.

A very very slight difference in sound in KZbin land. But in the mix, that was lost. A very subtle change but that’s all. Great playing though.

Not sure if it’s my phone’s speaker, but Gibson’s really sing highs more compared to St. Helen as I can hear.
