Excellent Video! You would think the manufacturers would produce a video like this. Thank you for taking time to do all of this work. I struggled with how much battery I needed to run my gear, FYI I went with Lithium batteries in my boat - except for cranking and saved a lot of weight and gained a lot of reserve power.

Glad it was helpful, I will likely go Lithium when I need to replace mine again...but they are all pretty much new

This was the exact information I needed! I’ll be running most of my screens at less than 90% brightness so that’s even better. Thank you so much

90% and Sleeping inactive screens saves a ton of battery on a long day.

Thanks for uploading a very much needed informal video about amps draw.. You helped me understand power consumption a little more. So I have a question for you, I basically have the same setup as you do, however I have two live scopes, so say for instance my entire system is drawing 11.9 amp and I want to fish for 8hr. That would make my amp consumption 95.2 amps for 8 hr ? What size lithium battery would i need to run my system? Thanks

I would check with the lithium manufactures for their recommendations as they have alot of run time data available on their websites. Now I run my system of electronics off a 100ah Lead Acid Interstate battery. Thats 4 Garmin 106 Ultras and the LVS. Now I can say that I fish 8 hours without issue on this setup, but I do sleep 2 of the 4 fishfinders based on my location in the boat. The biggest difference is that with lithium you get a deeper discharge cycle, so you get more "usable" battery compared to lithium. A 100ah Lithium will run alot longer than a 100ah Lead battery. That said when I go to replace my batteries next go around (hopefully not soon :) ) I will likely look at lithium in the 100-125 Ahr area. Putting those units in sleep mode definitely saves some juice.

Really cool to see this out in the field. You got some really nice monitors on the boat.

So is there any difference with a 106 with a transducer and without? I use mine for ice fishing and just have the livescope plugged in, no transducer
@1Cast1Fish9 ай бұрын
I’m sure there has to be some difference, but I’m not sure how much as I did not do any testing in that configuration

Great information. I know my live scope is very power hungry.
@1Cast1Fish Жыл бұрын
Definitely uses a bit of power with everything running, I run my 4 Graphs and the LVS 34 off 1 dedicated 100Ah lead acid deep cycle currently...I have not had any issues

Awesome video! Thank you for putting it together! Do you think you could do a video testing amp draw at each 10% increment on a single 106sv?

I have added it to the list of possible future videos....thanks for the idea and suggestion

Question about my Striker 4...........I'm on my second battery in a year (new this summer). I just used it for a short two day fishing trip and the voltage dropped to the point of shutting off the Striker 4. Battery charger lights up green, in fact it just did when I put it on it. When fishing for parts of two days I could watch the voltage drop. Is this a battery problem or FF? I could turn it back on to find depth but only for a minute or two before it shutting down again. Is there a way to connect FF to my 12v trolling motor battery?
@1Cast1Fish Жыл бұрын
What size and type of battery was you using? Yes you can connect it to your trolling battery as well...many connection options depending on your setup

A little off topic BUT hoping you wouldnt mind helping out a fellow striker 4 user. The 4-pin power cable on my striker 4 is no good and I was wondering if a replacement garmin 2-pin power cable is compatible as Im getting one in a couple of days. All i need is for the dang thing to come one and take me to my best fishing spots once more😢. No fancy shmancy stuff

Requires the 4 pin, they are pretty cheap on Amazon...I think less than $20.

When you put the 106sv into sleep mode are they still drawing power
@1Cast1Fish4 ай бұрын
Yes they are...but how much? I'm not sure...but a great idea for another video to test.

I have 3 garmin 106sv and life scope all linked together they all come on at the same time how do you turn them off individually there is only 1transducer for all devices
@1Cast1Fish5 ай бұрын
You can not with the 106's, I have 4 and they all turn on when any of them are powered up. I just put the units in sleep mode that I am not using. I searched for an answer to this exact same question once mine were installed.
