I love this recipe! I added a tiny bit of vanilla extract to mine. I also whipped my heavy cream , instead of just being liquid. Everything turned out amazingly good. 👍. I’m wonder now how it would taste with a nice Carmel sauce topped with chopped nuts 😊. Mine took longer to cook as well. Thank you for sharing this 1. 🎂

Looks great. I wonder how that might work as a bundt cake with white icing.
@JanaColey6 жыл бұрын
Dan B. The way it naturally sinks during the cooling process, I’m not sure that would work.

4:49 That's the interesting part. The bottom of Kate's cake looks great. Just the top was collapsed. A bundt cake is flipped for service.

Dan B. I was thinking more of how it went in on the sides. I say try it & see what happens.

I may be dumb for asking this, but why do you have to sift in things like flour and cocoa powder? Why can't you just dump them in? I've always wondered, but thought it was a dumb question, lol.
@ashmitharatnayake47592 жыл бұрын
I’m three years too late in replying to this, but it’s because cocoa powder tends to clump up. Sifting it makes sure that you don’t end up with a lump of cocoa powder in your cake. Flour is sifted usually to make sure you don’t knock out all the air you’ve beaten it to the eggs.

Living in America, we don’t usually hear it referred to as caster sugar. Is that the same as our granulated sugar?
@louisa15146 жыл бұрын
Jana C It's slightly smaller. You use it when baking or I think sometimes on donuts as an alternative to that powder stuff which tastes horrible. Our granulated sugar is still granulated sugar. Then there's icing sugar which I think you call powdered sugar? It's called icing sugar because what you call frosting we call icing.
@JanaColey6 жыл бұрын
Louisa Jay Thank you! I think we call that superfine sugar or something along those lines.
@ThisWithThem6 жыл бұрын
Our caster sugar is the same as your granulated sugar. The granulated sugar we have in the Uk is much grainier. It has thicker grains of the sugar. We use this in things like tea to sweeten it! And caster sugar mainly for baking! Hope this helps ☺️

InTheKitchenWithKate I'm safe and alright. It's just in my little town we are having some problems with mountain lions attack pets and farm animals so we have a 8 p.m. curfew placed on the town right now. 6 years ago a man was out cycling in the evening and was attacked by one, so we go into alert when they come around town and farms.

The beautiful thing about this cake if the sugar is replaced with stevia and the chocolate is sugar free, it will make a great Keto cake.

Take the green stem and leaves off the strawberries before putting them on the cake.
@JanaColey6 жыл бұрын
Big Picture Why is that important? You piqued my curiosity.
@MrBigPicture8356 жыл бұрын
The green stem and leaves a usually a little bitter, detract from the flavor of the strawberry, try one without them and see what i mean.
@JanaColey6 жыл бұрын
Big Picture Oh, OK. I just take them off myself if they’re there. I thought maybe there was another reason.
@TiaB496 жыл бұрын
Kate please explain the sugar, I’ve heard it in other British baking shows.
@ThisWithThem6 жыл бұрын
Hey! So in England we bake with caster sugar which is the same as your granulated sugar. We do get granulated sugar here too but its much thicker than yours i believe! The grains are thicker. We use this for sweetening tea! Things like that! Hope that makes sense!
@TiaB496 жыл бұрын
InTheKitchenWithKate Thanks so much Kate. I’ll check the bags next time I go shopping because I believe we have an extra fine granulated sugar which is probably the same as what you use.
