It's the night before Christmas, and Adam sneaks away to the shop for a quick repair job on his indoor Ugg boots! Yes, Adam loves these boots for wearing inside the house, and repairs the sole on one boot using trust barge cement. It's a quick fix-it job that's done in one single shot!

Honestly, what I respect most about this man is, that he's probably one of the most in-touch-with-themselves person ever. He doesn't feel like he needs to explain his preferences or defend liking things others might call him out on (sewing, wearing uggs, etc.). This man is such a good role model for how to combat toxic masculinity. He just don't care if others think he's less of a man because he likes certain things, he knows that he doesn't have to prove himself to others, because he gets all the validation he needs from being at peace with himself. Really, this channel is what I fucking need in this pandemic and I love each and every person that is working to keep these videos up! Thanks Adam and the Tested team for being wholesome as fuck!

I couldn't agree more. I see a lot of myself in Adam when it comes to his specific curiosities and somewhat sporadic making. However I have always had a problem with self image/worth. I've been watching this channel almost daily for 2 years now and don't know how to thank him and the team enough. He has really taught me to be myself, especially throughout these troubling times. Enormous props to everyone at Tested and Adam for being the best role model I never knew I needed. Keep up the amazing work you guys(:

@@pileofstuff There are lots of contact cements. Barge became really popular with leather craft hobbyists in the 60s, as at the time it was one of the few that was available in smaller than industrial quantities. Good to know, I have some minor shoe AND car interior trim to repair. Barge glue it is. Side question, if you know. Adam mentioned thinking it down a touch as possible, though he opted not to. Would that be with mineral spirits or isopropyl, or some other thinning agent? Thanks!
@bbb462cid
@bbb462cid 3 жыл бұрын
@@JesseCohen Depends on the material. Each of these glues should have a TDS (Technical data sheet) available at their manufacturers' websites. A trick I used to use with the trim was if I need to fix say a plastic stud, I would use a plastic drinking straw as a mold. The straw goes over the stud, seal the bottom with something like play-doh, and out the glue in the sraw. You need some kind of former or mold; the stuff will tend to run all over. There are fairly inexpensive plastic welding kits now, but thre's a learning curve.

I’m a cobbler and I do this all the time. Another thing you can do is peal the sole back just a little bit further. This is because the glue that’s already there is likely going to wear out as well. Also after you let the glue sit for about 5 minutes you then put the upper back onto the sole. When gluing you’ll want to put as much on there you can. Then to get rid of the overflow glue (after it dries) you’ll take a piece of runner or an eraser and rub it off. Works like a charm.

I personally wear mahabis around the house. But I have to tip my hat to Ugg. My wife (who is Australian) really wanted to get our daughter a pair of Uggs while we were visiting Australia. She got her this kick ass navy blue pair with a cool stitching pattern. A few days later we had made our way to Argentina and as our Daughter was being carried one of the boots fell off. We immediately doubled back and tried to look for the missing boot but it was no where to be seen. I went back later to look again but nothing. At that point we had to just say it was missing but we kept the boot we had. A couple months later we tell the story to my father in law in Australia, he says “let me go ask the factory if they have a spare boot we can buy, it not far”. So he pops up to the factory and they don’t have anything left like that... but they ended up making a special one off right boot,for free no less.

I've actually had the glue take after being on a surface outside in the cold (but not exposed to direct sunlight) for weeks during autumn, joined that onto a freshly applied and dry (after like 10 minutes of air drying) surface, after like 2 or 3 years it's still holding up quite a bit of weight! Sometimes this glue is literal magic.
