Grew up skateboarding in FL with friends that tried to get me to go surfing with them but i never went because i was always afraid of what lurked below in that murky water....i went once with them and we got out there and i climbed off the board and went down a bit to try n touch the bottom with my feet but just kept sinking into a black abyss beneath me and i freaked out and got back on the board and slowly paddled back to shore quietly crying in fear so they wouldn't see or hear me haha and they're like "Yo where you goin bro??!" I am terrified of giant deep bodies of water....makes me feel completely vulnerable with no possible escape from threat.

I am not informed properly regarding this subject but I still can easily say that you are mistaken. A succesful shark repellent would never have a sales issue. Therefore, it wouldn't face with difficulties to attract people who would invest. So I can easily say that the problem was that they couldn't come out with a succesful product. It is same situation with dog repellents. The one I have is effective is around 70%

Sharks don't normally go to eat humans, we don't taste that great to them ... generally sharks approach out of curiosity, making people panic, triggering their instincts, which then leads to an attack. Or they mistake us for sea lions, etc. The buoy's "shock" is just enough so that it doesn't harm them (that is a key point of consideration in their design), but puts them off enough that the discomfort overrides their curiosity. It also provides confidence to the people swimming, meaning they're less likely to panic/splash frantically, meaning even less chance of attack. :)

Here in California (both North and South), people surf and swim with Great Whites every day and there are very very few attacks. Even though there is a channel on KZbin dedicated to watching Great Whites in the water with surfers by Drone, I don't think these devices will ever be necessary here. We have just as many Great Whites here in California... Are sharks just more aggressive in Australia?
@BreMue

Think it's like car accidents. Cars are everywhere and comparatively there arent many accidents, but wherever you can prevent an accident, you should. Dont think they're anything to get worked up about just be smart and safe around them. One crazy hungry one is all it takes
@ForTheCurie
@ForTheCurie Жыл бұрын
Quite late, but the reason for fewer attacks in California versus NSW is the size of the sharks. Generally, in California sharks close to the shore are younger. Due to their size primary prey items are rays close to shore. This size shark is often seen interacting non aggressively with seals, dolphins, and surfers, because they’re too big to register as prey. In Australia, however, the sharks close to shore are not as regularly juveniles. These are larger sharks that are feeding on seals and other large vertebrates. To these adult sharks, we are well within their “I can definitely eat that if I wanted to” range. For nearly all sharks species it’s all a size game.

I think Nat Geo fails to explain why shark attacks towards humans have increased. They did because sharks have less fish prey to eat, because guess what? Fishing in gigantic quantities. And what Nat Geo does about that? They get Gordon Ramsay to go and fish for eels or any other star to support their views. You love marine life? - Stop eating it. And let's continue with the nice ideas like this one to avoid shark attacks towards humans without harming sharks.

Please save and love every animals, birds , trees , nature. They are much much beautiful than a 5 star hotel or any luxurious things , if you see them in a right way . It's shame for us to say that "this or that" species is endangered. Because we are the reason for it . When compared to nature , money is nothing. Once we lost our nature it's not easy to get it back . We are the only species who cut down trees , convert it to paper , and on the same paper we write save trees!?.
