cool, but how often is a shark interested in taking a bite out of you, is going to approach you head on. Great whites in particular through 500 million years of evolution and natural instincts can blind side seals which are far more attuned to their surrounding in the water than we are. Don't ignorantly test a shark's nature in it's domain thinking you can just punch it.

When I was in Hawaii 13 years ago, I met a buisness man who had purchased the rights for a water-proof watch that repelled sharks. It did so by releasing a very faint electro shock. It didnt effect other wildlife but when a shark swam nearby it would jolt like the first shark did in this video when reacting to the device. It doesnt hurt the shark but more like startles them and blinds their electro-magnetic sense.

I wonder if it'd be possible to use a "Shark Shield" to actually allow Humans and Sharks to swim in the same general area, just humans are 'protected' within the confines of the 'shield.' This could allow more understanding and research of sharks first hand. The "shield" could also be used as a trapping method and that wouldn't be as good...
