Great review! I've switched to AK RC paints about a year ago. They airbrush beautifully and there's no paint build up on the needle when using Mr Hobby's thinner. I've used them with .2, .3, .7mm needle/nozzles with no issues at 15-20psi with my Badger Velocity and Iwata SBS. If you let it cure for about 24-48 hours its very durable even on unprimed plastic. The finish is super smooth that I tried applying decals without a gloss coat and there was no silvering. Love these paints.

Love AK RC paints. The range of colours is great and they seem to to be reasonably accurate. They also go a long way as they can be thinned to something like 30/70. Never had any problems with them. The brush performance is really useful if you do need to touch up any area.

It's pricey, but from years of work, the fine motor skills in my hands are bad and it makes painting a lot easier. Ak real colors are one of my top airbrush paint I use mr.color leveling thinner with them and really like the results.

The 3 primers are lacquers, you can tell from the smell, lacquers use cellulose thinner or acetone as solvent, they dry by evaporation, whereas enamels use white spirits and cure over time when the solvent is evaporated. I also believe it is an acrylic, mostly because it behaves like Mr Hobby and Tamyia which are labeld as acrylic lacquers. I have been using them for a year and went through 2 blacks and 2 whites. If you spray them dry they come out very flat, but if you put them on wet they become very smooth. I love them, and they are very economical they cheapest model specific lacquer primers and I don't have to thin them.

They DO make a water-based primer. I've managed to find the black, but the white has been on backorder for six months. The black is AWESOME, covers well, doesn't need thinner to spray, and scrubs off your hands easily.

I have an idea for content. Talk to some manufacturers about what paint is. What are the components and how dod they interact. What does "acrylic" mean (I think it is the component that make up the body of the paint, the stuff that holds it together) There are 3 main components in lacquers: The binder: Acrylic resin The solvent: What makes it liquid and determines the drying time, which in turn can make it level, by extending the time in which it stays liquid The Pigment: The color But I know nothing about urethanes or enamels. Are there any difference between poly urethanes and urethanes? And lots of other questions I don't know to ask I think it would elevate the way we speak about paints, and we could avoid people mixing the wrong thinners into paints

Have you tried Gravity Colors in spain for your petronis green? They are laquer paints pre thinned. I've ordered from them and only took about a week to get. And you can chat online with them. They are very helpful. The have all the F1 colors.

I forgot to mention that you can use those self-adhesive felt pads for furniture to increase the height of your trigger. Way cheaper than buying the high roller. I also add a piece of anti skid tape on top for even better grip. Like you, I find most triggers too low.

My local hobby house got me into AK airbrush colors and I must say they are great, mix with Tamiya very well, and behave like Mr Color. I wish AK would make more colors than just military specific colors but I think that military specific color thing is their niche. My only complaint is I hate their thinner, it is a waste of money, Mr Leveling Thinner works so much better.

Heard AK Interactive Ultra Matt is one of the mattest varnishes, that and Green Stuff World Max Matt, Vallejo is great especially the Mecha Varnishes for creating a candy like protective shell but their matt vernishes seem closer to satin than a dead matt.

Not sure what matte from Vallejo you're using, but their acrylic 70.520 is dead flat. It also murders the look of anything metallic.

@@DaneSaysStuff I mostly just used Vallejo, prefer to use the Mecha varnishes first to protect everything, then it's just a matter of dulling areas down. I did use the Mecha Matt varnish a while ago on some sculpted pants that i made and it looked satin even though i did several coats, now after a few weeks the pants look more matt, maybe it dulled itself down more. I basically use 2-1 Varnish, Thinner and 2 drops of flow improver.

I use these colors a lot, however all of them is matt and no gloss unfortunately. Their thinner works great for tamiya lacquer and mr color too. Can be mixed with Tamiya acrylic, Tamiya lacquer, Mr color, Mr aqueous, Gaia and modo paints. For brushing the mr color thinner or leveling thinner is recomended for its retarder and you wont get streaks.

Looks like I got something else I need to pick up to try out! I've fallen in love with Tamiya acrylic and the Mr. Hobby aqueous range. I thin it with 91% isopropyl. I tried 70% like you used and it gave me the same exact issues/results you had in your video. It didn't actually cut it and was speckled with water spots when dry.
