So jubilee, you need to understand that Africans and black people who grew up in white spaces live a very different life when it comes to black people who are raised in black spaces. If you give a voice to only Africans and blacks in majority white spaces it limits black visibility. I think in these sorts of conversations it’s important to go outside of the comfort zone of the kinds of black men and black people who are marketable and palpable for white audiences.

I hope this experience encourages Andrew to learn more about his friends and how they experience life versus just saying he has diverse friends. Like most people have a diverse group of friends (especially if you went to college or grew up in a big city) with the exception of if you grow up in like a cult or strict household where your friendships are monitored. It's not something that's a big deal to feel special about. The whole point of friends is to get to know them and what they're like and support them.

Not really, people are scared to even say what they mean because they don’t want the internet to come from them. Most of these guys didn’t even try to actually answer and they shut their brain off to throw one out, which I don’t blame them considering the video just screams trap 💀 To make a video like this successfully, I honestly think it’s necessary to create a safe environment and get people who aren’t trying to sugarcoat and are genuinely trying to both learn and be upfront and honest and actually engaging with their stereotypes, understanding they might be wrong.

that's a wild comment to make considering everyone in the video clearly had a fun time and the guessers all owned their ignorance on the topic and were happy to learn. Also a dangerous assumption to say "2 opposed groups" when again, clearly, everyone was happy to have the discussion. I don't see any opposed groups here except the comment section insisting it despite the video clearly showing the truth of it (that healthy discussions are the way to go, not falsely claiming people are against each other) 🤷♂

Afros are an umbrella term for natural combed out black hair. OfCourse you can argue that if you style your hair (as in cut off the sides) its not natural anymore. But there is an argument that high tops are still afros. for clarity, I am black and currently rocking a small "normal" afro.

I think they should’ve made a separate video with Black Americans(specifically decedents from chattel slavery) & Blacks with african parents because its a big difference in culture between the two and its kind of ignorant to just group all of them together. It’s obvious most of these guys didn’t really grow up in or around actual black american culture so some of these answers would’ve been totally different.

They are mimicking the tone. To appease to whites. There’s a difference between speaking correct grammar vs speaking in a higher pitch tone to sound like a white male. An example of black men who speak in a natural tone are Kevin Frazier, Denzel Washington, Lawrence Fishburn both sound like highly intellectual black men they don’t speak in high pitch.

As a black women I loved this video and the concept. If you’re white and feel uncomfortable I’m glad you had to experience this cringe because it’s nowhere near as cringe and uncomfortable as many of my daily interactions are with many white strangers. @@OliviaFranks219 It was engineered that way. Starting 10-15 years ago, I noticed the way media was shaping race relations encouraging tensions between people. Think of the term "microaggression" as an example. Most people don't mean harm when they say or do things, but when words like that become prominent, you will have whites overthinking every interaction with a poc, worried they might be thought of as a racist if they say the wrong thing so things might get awkward hence the whole walking on eggshells.
