Good to know I'm not the only one who loves cleaning. 😄 I'm 60 and grew up with 8 siblings. We all had a specific chore to do and started at an early age. So I've been cleaning for 50 plus years! I have 5 children, (adults now). And used to clean houses for a living. I never liked chemicals. I've been cleaning, mold removing and disinfecting with vinegar, bleach (I know it's a chemical), lemons, oranges and isopropyl alcohol for years. Saves a lot of money on commercial cleaning products. Love your videos! 👍🏼

Since granite countertops have a sealant on them; to keep them shiny and stain-resistant, you want to avoid using anything too acidic or basic on the granite. Frequent use of vinegar, Windex or bleach will dull the granite and weaken the sealant and finally removes the sealant. Instead, use a little soap and water to clean your granite or use a granite cleaner made specifically for granite. This recommendation, on how to care for your granite, comes from a granite website. The faucet clean idea is spot on!

I've used vinegar to clean for years. I do that with my kitchen and bathroom sinks as well Jo H. Also after the paper towels are soaked and wrapped if in a few hours they dry up or before going to bed. I pour more vinegar on or use a spray bottle to apply more making sure it's good and soaked. One other thing I do with vinegar soaked paper towels is tuck them up under the toilet bowl rim (that hard to reach area)? Thankfully we have 2 bathrooms so I can leave them on for hours, overnight, or do 2 treatments in a row depending how early I get started. The vinegar dissolves all that crud and I use a wire brush to finish the job. Flush, flush... 😉 What we women do to keep our homes clean is sacrificial love isn't it?! 😄

@switt3203
@switt3203 3 жыл бұрын
@@Guinnivere Depending on the size of your family you may need to do it every 4 months but it’s just the two of us so we do it about ever six months. My husband said for every 1 pound box of baking soda you use one gallon of white vinegar, but when you do the last box of BS use an extra gallon of vinegar to help flush the BS down. So for the shower drain he does 4 boxes of BS/5 gallons of vinegar and for the bathroom sink he does 2/3. You need to put one box of BS then one gallon of vinegar and repeat until you use all that is needed. Then let it set for about 30 min and then pour slowly a large soup pot of boiling water down the drain, then let the hot water from the faucet run for about 5 min for the final flush. Just a side note if you have a hair clog vinegar does not dissolve hair so you would need a snake then you could do the vinegar/BS mix. You can also use generic products to help cut costs. I hope this makes sense.

That Dawn degreaser is amazeballs. I use white vinegar all the time. It's a great water softener for the laundry; I put white vinegar in the rinse cycle when I wash towels to help get the soap out and make them more fluffy. I also use it to clean my microwave; I put a MW-safe bowl of white vinegar inside, zap it to get it hot and steamy, let it sit in there for a while, then wipe everything down. Works great; I follow up with warm soapy water if the surface still feels tacky.

I’ve been using vinegar to clean, descale and rinse laundry in for years. There is regular 5% vinegar, and 6% cleaning vinegar. Be aware, both are highly acidic and not good for granite. Over time it will dull your granite and weaken the sealant. Be careful leaving the vinegar bag on your faucets as well. The vinegar will eat thru the clear coat on your faucets and cause discoloration. You need to use it in moderation in your coffee maker, dishwasher and washing machine as well, as it can damage rubber seals and hoses and cause leaks.

You can use vinegar in a bag on your shower head too. I have a hand shower in my bathroom. It needs a descaling, so I use paper toweling soaked in white vinegar and paste it all over the faucet, etc. Leave it overnight and clean off the next morning. Worked very well for me. Another tip ... to clean your inside drains ... pour bicarbonate of soda (baking soda where you are) down the drain followed by white vinegar. Allow to bubble and then pour an entire kettle of boiled water down the drain - opens up nicely. I do this in my laundry, kitchen, shower and bathroom.

Hi Renee. I do use white vinegar on my pull down faucets (and other places), but I have a little trick for you that's easier than the baggie. Pour about a 1/4 cup into a small bowl or mug that your faucet head will fit in. Then pull your faucet head down, clip it at the origin with a strong clip to keep it from popping back up, and let it sit in the cup of vinegar for the desired length of time. If your faucet head won't come down all the way just sit the cup on something a little higher in your sink. So much easier than the baggie, imo. Love all your videos! Happy New Year!

I had no idea that Dawn degreaser even existed. I will definitely be looking for it now, tyvm for introducing me to it's existence! It's so satisfying to watch something come clean, especially when you've tried other things and it didn't work. On a side note, anyone that would judge you for having grease on the hood of your stove most likely hasn't taken a look at theirs lately, lol. Excellent job! 💯👍

Do love a cleaning hack 🙂 I use white vinegar or lemon juice 🍋 (smells nicer) with bicarbonate of soda. You will see instant reaction between the the acid and bicarbonate, it cleans hard limescale quicker than the natural acid alone. I also use a purpose built bag called a 'Limey', saves using so much plastic on each clean. If you try it, you can use the bicarbonate from baking cupboard to see if you like the result, then purchase in bulk (I bought 5kg tub and decant to smaller tub for cleaning cupboard)......whoaaaaa, I'm getting old, if I'm using social to talk cleaning 😄🤣.....loved Maxxie & Pollux playing on your bed 💛💛

Hello Renee, The next time you clean the faucets I wet a paper towel with vinegar, and wrap it around each one and leave it sit for awhile. It will clean and take away all the scale that builds up. Works like magic! Quick and easy. Enjoy your winter time off and hope you and family (and Maxx and Pollux too) have a Healthy and Happy New Year!

Have used white vinegar and Dawn together for years to clean everything. I will adopt baggie idea. I actually tried Dawn after I saw them washing birds that had gotten in oil slick with Dawn. Safe enough for them…I would try. I was already using vinegar and it needed a boost…Dawn was it. I am excited to go get Dawn degreaser. I want to see how it works compared to Krud Kutter. It is $3 higher here. Says Lowe’s carry smaller bottle. I am looking for something to clean white grout. I have even tried Clorox. Once I finally get clean I am using a darker grout color. Thanks for the hot tips. Fabulous to see y’all again. We were absolutely spoiled over the holidays getting a daily dose. See y’all next year! Happy New Years Y’all. Welcoming with open arms 2022! Hi Debbie, I use a clean product called GP 66 I purchase from QVC. It can be used on almost everything but I use it exclusively on my dark grout. All my floors, kitchen counters, and island are ceramic and I spray the grout, leave it on for 30 minutes or more and scrub it with a toothbrush. It's time consuming but worth it. I now have a schedule so it doesnt take quite as long to clean the kitchen but the floors are a different story. I still clean them myself but it takes work. Good luck

I've been using vinegar as a cleaner for years! I will mention that I'm quite a bit older than you so I've had more years to figure it out! (I'm 72)- . You can put your filters in a trash bag with the degreaser and some water and let them sit (outside) for a while, also. Not much scrubbing at all when you take them out. I rinse off with the garden hose. I have a Reader's Digest - Our Best Advice - (little 47 pg book from 2005,) 188 Ingenious Uses for Vinegar. You wouldn't believe the tips it has in it! I also soak my fruits and veggies in vinegar water when I bring them home from the grocery, cleans and keeps them fresher. one more Dawn tip.....I keep a small bottle in my laundry cabinet, for extra greasy stains. I also have a small bottle in my travel kit. Thanks for the video! (run a vinegar soaked rag along the pull-out-hose that is in your faucet, too!)

Some do not realize that vinegar is also a disinfectant and in some cases just as good as bleach. Use it in your laundry too for nice clean clothes and also helps freshen your washer! There is another degreaser that is called Super Clean that works much better than the Dawn Degreaser....Look in the automotive sections of your store for this one. Its really hard to beat and in my area its $8.88 a gallon, pretty economical ! Happy Cleaning !
