Diamond -2 is my favorite finish. But I using this finish only for best projects. Other different finish I know too. Flex Coat is very good. Then in my rating probably Rod Dancer finish. And then may be Pro Cote. But, Pro Cote is like a rock. I literally treated it with abrasive the next day and it was very good for that. Pro Cote really strong. I completely forgot about the Japanese Toho finish. For now I'm only saving it for better times. It seems the TOHO finish should be unbeatable.

the regular D2 is a little better at releasing air bubbles. the UV formula is a little thicker. but it is definitely my favorite epoxy.

Thanks for the comparison video. Very well done. Like you, I have been using Flex Coat for years and am very happy with it's performance. I will be staying with the tried and true product for the duration. That said, I am intrigued with trying GG Clear. I don't believe it will cause me to change my approach but I am interested in giving it a try on my next rod repair.

Clear Coat high build has always performed well for me, it remains my go to. As for using gorilla glue or something similar It holds no interest for me. After dropping $$$$ on a blank and high end guides not to mention my time spent prepping and wrapping a rod I will not try to cut corners on the finish. Someday in the future I would like to think someone would be able to admire a rod I built and be able to say it looks and performs well as found rather than saying thats a nice blank, all I need to do is re-wrap those guides.

Gorilla Glue Clear worked for me on three old rods. Dries fast and ultra shiny. UV resistant, cheap in price and can be found at any hardware store.

I am not sure it won't yellow and get brittle with age. Hope it works for you.

@@chrismihulka-nwfishingstuf3852 GG says UV resistance. Should be as good as the other stuff you guys are using only way cheaper.

@@chrismihulka-nwfishingstuf3852 All I can tell you is mine is crystal clear. Cures kinda quick meaning easy to apply, doesn't run per say. Should be UV resistant as any other. Plus I trust GG more than some wonder name I've never heard of at 8 times the price of GG.
