Testing for Statistical Significance in Excel

As the saying goes: Results may vary. When do I expect a difference to be significant and not the result of random fluctuations? Excel has all the tools to find out.

If you have negative values in the data, the data might be negatively skewed. Should your if(skewed...) formula use an ABS() absolute value for the skew factor ?

Prof., does our choice of p-value determine what we mean by random? I mean, if we choose a 95% significance, aren't we defining observing events of probability 5% or lower to be as good as random?

Joji, it is a rule of thumb used to decide whether a distribution is skewed.
