10:18, you can use some electrical tape to cover up the buzzer. I did that to all of my UPSs. Taping off the buzzer lowers the noise, but you can still somewhat hear it from close proximity. In my humble opinion, it's better to have an alarm than not have it at all.

Thanks. This was very informative. I have one for the same reason and so far I've been happy. Suggestions for Goldenmate v2 is a mute button (as so many have complained about) and MOVE THE POWER BUTTON. Being on the bottom makes it too easy to accidentally hit with your foot or chair. Suggestion: Have a real-world test instead of just plugging something in. If you had it plugged in the wall with the fridge already running and then cut the power it would probably keep it running. Like what would happen if you lost power. You did that with your computer. It would be interesting to know how long it would stay running. I have been so annoyed with every UPS I've had as the battery goes bad before the next power outage and they don't last more than 3 seconds. I order a new battery and then the cycle repeats. I'm ready to see how the GoldeMate lasts. I am also running an experiment. I had a Cyberpower that died that I was using on my aquarium to keep my fish alive and I purchased a LiFePO4 battery to replace the lead acid that was in it. So far it is working but am concerned the charging circuit isn't 100% compatible. I've had it on there for a couple of days watching it closely. So far so good, but haven't tried to unplug it yet. We'll see soon.

Thanks for your comment! It’s a fantastic UPS. And great suggestions! The fridge would probably run if it started while the UPS was plugged into wall power. However, once the fridge cycles off and then tries to start again, and the power is still off, it will overload. Thanks for watching!

This unit works really well. It takes about 1 month for the smell to go away though so keep that in mind in an enclosed area. Also if the Power grid Brown out's on you, it is possible for it to trick the unit and it shuts off. I have had this happen about 2-3 times where the power did not go out all the way and did so in a quick 3 secession. But every time the power is out or the breaker is tripped the power is on. My only complaint is I wish it would have a faster charge rate using a toggle switch or something, and it would be nice if they could have fixed the brown out issue as that surprised me. But you cannot find a better priced Lithium UPS out there, On my PC it will last over 1 hour!

Can you tell how much capacity is in the built in battery pack? Do you think it keeps the lifepo4 pack charged to 100% all the time until power disruption? It will be curious to see how much degradation occurs over time if that is the case. Was the empty male xt60/xt90 on the internal board used for anything?

As far as I can tell, it keeps the battery at 100% state of charge all the time. I believe that plug is for the battery pack to connect to the main board. I had it disconnected at first for safety while I fussed with the buzzer initially, and then plugged it back in later. Thanks for watching!

I’ve tested my refrigerators on a lead acid UPS and it worked just fine? I’m wondering about the surge rating? I find when switching back-and-forth from grid to off grid on my hybrid solar system, that it doesn’t surge when I’m hooked to a UPS. Otherwise, you get those big surges that use a lot of power!
@theresatrickforthat5 ай бұрын
Yeah…I think the surge capacity on this unit is just not huge. It doesn’t need to be huge…but maybe large enough for a refrigerator would be a good idea for future iterations. In any case, I love my units for my electronics! Thanks for watching!
@ALmaN112233443 ай бұрын
It depends on the startup power of the motor and the overdraw protections that are implemented on the UPS, but any sizable AC motor will draw thousands of watts in the first second or two that it's getting up to speed. It sounds more likely that your UPS didn't have proper protections for overcurrent, or maybe it just had ridiculous capacitors that could handle a multi-second heavy load.
@simon3593 ай бұрын
@@ALmaN11223344 My refrigerators have surged up to 800 W. My washing machine needs at least 1200 W. Otherwise, these things don’t work properly.
@kevinmitchell31682 ай бұрын
I would highly recommend NOT using anything like a fridge or freezer on an UPS unless you know for certain it can handle the initial surge. Motors pull a lot of power when they first turn on. You may get away with it a few times but there's a good chance you will damage the UPS and/or the fridge if you do it repeatedly.
@kreana023 ай бұрын
does your fridge has a inverter compressor? if it does not, then a huge surge will be needed to start that compressor unlike inverters.

Were you able to add extended battery?
@rickibaron48162 ай бұрын
@@Tech4Ten Yes, I simply opened up the unit and spliced into the wires that are connected to internal battery. I then drilled two holes in the back of the case and feed two wires outside the case and put a connector (like the one that they used inside the case). I can now simply connect two 12 volt batteries, in series, by connector to the unit (this unit runs on 24 volts). Since the internal charging unit does not charge at a very high rate adding the extra batteries may take a long time to charge everything up it also has the advantage of being able to run a very long time before you run out of power.

Not sure. But I do show in my video the battery connection. It looks like an oversized XT 60 connector. Thanks for watching!
@erosion0125 күн бұрын
it looks like the battery inside is a 6S, so it would need a custom external 6S Lifepo4 battery. I noted the sort of ribbon wire with the red on the left side, white center and black on the right. It would be a 6S balance lead. So you would have to buy 6 100AH Lifepo4 cells and try to splice them in. The BMS probably has some thermal probes as well and I am not sure if it is a dumb BMS or a BMS with amp hour measurement. It is possible this PSU has tracking for that, and therefore it would be tricky to expand the capacity of this unit. I do want to try it, but surely someone else has already tried I just don't know yet.
