For anybody that owns one a quick note: if you push the button once when you are running on battery, it will mute the beeping sound.
@theresatrickforthat17 күн бұрын
Ummmm….on mine if you push the button on battery it will shut the unit down. So yes, it will stop the beep, but you’ll also lose power to everything. Thanks for watching!

@theresatrickforthat no, just press it quickly but do not hold. Maybe mine is a revised model but give it a try

I generally just use a small blob of blu-tak to 'almost' silence those annoying buzzers. I'd still like an alarm, just not one that can shatter a wine glass.

Great idea! Thanks for watching and commenting!

That is a great idea. I’ve used a blob of silicone into the hole of the buzzer and it lowers the amount of noise I assume similarly. Thanks for sharing.

@12:22 That's what I'm here for! I have some expensive reptiles that need their great lamps to stay warm/alive. The heat draws up to 200 Watts. I want a UPS that can run them for 10 hours.

Yeah! I would love to see them provide an expansion option for such a thing! I think it would be really neat! Thanks for watching and commenting!

My pleasure! Nope! The toothpick is held in place by me just jamming it in there! Thanks for watching!

In the instruction manual (page 13 at the bottom), it says that if you push the front switch when the UPS is providing power, the buzzer alarm will be turned off.

That must be new since I got my version to test. But good to know! Thanks for watching!

Thanks. This was very informative. I have one for the same reason and so far I've been happy. Suggestions for Goldenmate v2 is a mute button (as so many have complained about) and MOVE THE POWER BUTTON. Being on the bottom makes it too easy to accidentally hit with your foot or chair. Suggestion: Have a real-world test instead of just plugging something in. If you had it plugged in the wall with the fridge already running and then cut the power it would probably keep it running. Like what would happen if you lost power. You did that with your computer. It would be interesting to know how long it would stay running. I have been so annoyed with every UPS I've had as the battery goes bad before the next power outage and they don't last more than 3 seconds. I order a new battery and then the cycle repeats. I'm ready to see how the GoldeMate lasts. I am also running an experiment. I had a Cyberpower that died that I was using on my aquarium to keep my fish alive and I purchased a LiFePO4 battery to replace the lead acid that was in it. So far it is working but am concerned the charging circuit isn't 100% compatible. I've had it on there for a couple of days watching it closely. So far so good, but haven't tried to unplug it yet. We'll see soon.

Thanks for your comment! It’s a fantastic UPS. And great suggestions! The fridge would probably run if it started while the UPS was plugged into wall power. However, once the fridge cycles off and then tries to start again, and the power is still off, it will overload. Thanks for watching!

Can you tell how much capacity is in the built in battery pack? Do you think it keeps the lifepo4 pack charged to 100% all the time until power disruption? It will be curious to see how much degradation occurs over time if that is the case. Was the empty male xt60/xt90 on the internal board used for anything?
@theresatrickforthat2 ай бұрын
As far as I can tell, it keeps the battery at 100% state of charge all the time. I believe that plug is for the battery pack to connect to the main board. I had it disconnected at first for safety while I fussed with the buzzer initially, and then plugged it back in later. Thanks for watching!

I’ve tested my refrigerators on a lead acid UPS and it worked just fine? I’m wondering about the surge rating? I find when switching back-and-forth from grid to off grid on my hybrid solar system, that it doesn’t surge when I’m hooked to a UPS. Otherwise, you get those big surges that use a lot of power!
@theresatrickforthat2 ай бұрын
Yeah…I think the surge capacity on this unit is just not huge. It doesn’t need to be huge…but maybe large enough for a refrigerator would be a good idea for future iterations. In any case, I love my units for my electronics! Thanks for watching!
@ALmaN1122334419 күн бұрын
It depends on the startup power of the motor and the overdraw protections that are implemented on the UPS, but any sizable AC motor will draw thousands of watts in the first second or two that it's getting up to speed. It sounds more likely that your UPS didn't have proper protections for overcurrent, or maybe it just had ridiculous capacitors that could handle a multi-second heavy load.
@simon35919 күн бұрын
@@ALmaN11223344 My refrigerators have surged up to 800 W. My washing machine needs at least 1200 W. Otherwise, these things don’t work properly.

It's rated 3 stars on Amazon, but it's all due to loud fans and buzzers, no buzzer switch, and a fan that kicks on in 120v mode. I can fix those! Question: Does it hold 118-120v even when the batteries are discharged, or does it dip to 110v or so? Thanks, great review!

Great Video! Thank you for taking the time to create this video. The reason why I wanted to find a video like yours is that I just got my unit today ans want to put extra LFP batteries connected to it to extend the backup time. Please be aware that this until uses 24 volts so you will need either 1 - 24 volt or 2 - 12 volt batteries in series to power the unit. I also wish they would include a plug to add extra battery backup. I will just have to add plugs for my extra batteries myself.

does your fridge has a inverter compressor? if it does not, then a huge surge will be needed to start that compressor unlike inverters.
@theresatrickforthatАй бұрын
No inverter compressor in my fridge. So yes, the surge was too much for this UPS that’s not built for surge loads. Thanks for watching!
