The minecart and the player entities _are_ actually way over there, but the game intentionally delays their position so that it can draw it smoothly moving there over time instead, but does no such delay for block updates. That's the only way it can make minecarts and other entities appear to be moving smoothly while simulating the world at 20 ticks per second lol

​@@circuitgamer7759 That algorithm is basically clientside prediction, which Minecraft basically already does for the player character itself, to make movements and looking instantaneous, and it overrides the interpolation as it's run frame-by-frame. Minecraft kind of does clientside prediction for blocks already, like when you mine one and it disappears immediately, or when you place one and it appears, without having to wait for the server to confirm either. Though, if you've had lots of multiplayer experience, you've probably had many cases of the change you did getting undone immediately by your game, and then actually getting redone back for real this time as the server confirmed it lol Anyway, the issue here is unrelated to prediction; it's about the render engine showing two different parts of the game (blocks and entities) at different times relative to each other, causing discrete events to be desynced between the two.

@@delavanty when a carpet is pushed with a piston, it breaks, no? Some blocks behave like this. The carpet mod stops this behaviour, so when interacted with by a piston, it acts like a normal block. I do believe rails fall into this category
