Ship speed limitations are great, they keep fights close, prevent endless kiting, etc. But ship agility shouldn't have been reduced. That's what makes mirror matchups feel like dull DPS races AND it promotes backstrafing since the pursuer boosting forward loses even more agility due to anti-trichording thruster dampening. If small ships have high agility but low velocity guns while big ships have high velocity guns, fighters can dogfight with skill and still be vulnerable to big ship turrets.

what nav mode does for Reclaimers is allow you to Travel MAx speed and drop out of Nav mode 3km from your claim and stop on a dime because of it. bascially the SCM speed slow down is instant by killing your QD and with a little practice you don't overshoot at all. i don't care about combat. i find remote turrets in the reclaimer suck still anyway. I care little about other ships past maybe the HULL C which till they fix DOCKING bugs won't be using regularly at all.

Ive been addicted to watching ppl dogfight in MM. It is FAR more interesting than the old flight model, it's not even close

For MM it would almost be more interesting to have power distribution heavily affect limits of all 3 corners of the power triangle: weapon output (maybe targeting speed and pip accuracy), shields and thrusters

Group fighting in MM is super fun and much more engaging because you have to think about how and when you engage and disengage. You can’t just tri chord out whenever you feel like it. 1v1 still feels VERY wonky but I know they’re working on it

I will say when you were back in the Gladius you were teleporting around spinning for me so it was much harder to keep track xD

Can you hotkey flight modes or do you have to switch/scroll through them all to get to the one you want? Also switching to Nav mode (not quantum mode) should be an instant switch imo, hopefully it’ll keep progressing and get tuned more/better 🤙🏻

It would be nice to have more reasons to crew ships, though it feels like social features and server setup feel like the big hurdles. Wouldnt mind if the flight model got people into that more too though.

Hold down your boost and switch to NAV. You won't lose any speed. A guy on Reddit told us this, I tried it and it works.

I think mirror matches will continue to improve as they add more weapon choices. Repeaters are ultimately a DPS race because of how they tend to fire. Add in shotguns or high alpha slow fire rate cannons and there's two ships with similar flight but different damage rates and windows.

An F8 that CHOOSES to stay and rate fight 1v1 vs. a Gladius really should lose. Same would happen if a Corsair tried to turn with a Zero. The difference between the two scenarios is that the F8 pilot has much more time to figure out the error of his ways and get gone before it is too late.

It’s still too easy to escape I think. I thought there was supposed to be to be a bunch of delay to spilling while taking fire? Multi crew should be the most powerful ships in the game if crewed effectively.

You know CIG already stated that the largest ship they intended to be flown solo is a galaxy right? I for the life on me can't remember where they said it, maybe it was in the galaxy video. They are also still looking to add AI crew and blades, so I can say they do intend for most ships to be flown "solo". The AI will never have the same skill as a well trained person but will be far better than nothing.

​@@sparkyails123 they've said that, we've yet to see it, but they've said it. Though if we had AI crews available I wouldn't consider that the same as soloing without them. With them though that should be viable, but by then we should also have decent enough social features you should have more options. Hopefully.

22:37 Respectfully Berks, No.. it's not nearly as bad as in MM. I agree with you on many things but this is one I will never. You also stated in this video that one of your issues with 3.22 flight model is it's rare to find people who fight you "the right way" (14:27). Berks.. nobody, not even CIG should get to dictate what the "right way" to fight is. People should be allowed to fight in whatever way they deem fit. 11:08 If the flight model is SUPPOSED to be like WW2 in space then pendulum tactics, a.k.a. "boom and zoom" was one of the primary forms of engagement taught to pilots and used EXTENSIVELY from 1941 to 1945. MM is not WW2 in space, it's boxing.. staring at each-other, moving in/out, sometimes strafing around, and punching each-other in the face. Edit: Still liking vid because you're one of the only dudes who will admit that MM isn't the holy grail of the flight models and still needs lots of work.

It's in reference to a completely subjective opinion, i.e, he likes the 3.22 pvp flight style when players are pushy as opposed to Jousting or Backstrafing but in general he likes the 3.23 flight model.

@@ChrisPFuchs I've watched many of Berks' videos (granted this was taken from a livestream) and he's always been well-spoken and does his best to make sure what he says can't be misinterpreted. The way it came off is that he deems opponents who Joust, use stealth, or hit and run tactics as not fighting "the right way" and if that is indeed what he means (I could be wrong) that's a horrible take. Bottom line this game will NEVER be WW2 in space as long as we have 6dof. That mechanic contradicts the physics of modern aerial combat. Unless they nerf strafe speed and acceleration into the ground (and I mean like 20m/s MAX even with boost) it will not work.

@@RaiuShinohana Yeah he could have worded that better. Just clarifying the context of 'the right way' was in terms of what makes 3.22 fun for him. I can see how people would take that poorly from how he worded it. Also, I agree, the WW2 combat seems difficult with 6dof.

It feels like the upright arcade games I played in the 90s. Each to their own but I am having trouble getting into it. A few hours now in AC and it still feels sorta like Im stuck in a bubble with whoever I am engaging. Like Im just moving a pip around rather than flying.

I'm confused if Mantis is designed to pull you out of quantum so they can kill you why your ship fly away ... either Mantis is broken/bugged because it doesn't perform it's designed role or something is wrong with this game

Brother we gotta stop this "everything needs to be skilled" there are plenty of things that can just be point and click. What missile IRL do you know that needs skill? There simple, lock on to some type of source (heat, ir etc) and attack the target. The only skill is the person trying to evade it.

Making missiles be effective in DCS world is not just point and click, it requires a lot more tasking and knowing your radar and enemies radars, old heat seekrs require skill to be in the right position and know it can make the turn or the wez is not jam, plus you need to know how to swich btwn all the different radar and acm modes, so far more than point and click lol

No countermeasures in Nav Mode is silly.... they are self powered..... Also... pirates want the cargo so they jam your warp and disable. Ransom isn't a thing because people just get mad yell "greifer" and fight to the death lol

maybe the mantis should only have the snare for 90 seconds with a 30 second cooldown or the snare slowly drains its own boost. just a thought

Stop complaining about MM, take 3 months to get used to it in live because alot of these same people complained about the old flight model and jousting, complained about ships look floaty, crashed alot because they couldn't' control their ship at high speed, crashed in the hanger because they didn't cap their speed, Shield dont' actually keep you safe as much as people think, maneuvers do, just apply Startreks logic of putting shields up when needed, we'll have armour anyway.

Lmao MMs is not safer you are literally testing a solo ship chasing someone who is competent if you are competent in live it's even safer for you. But chances are pirates will come in groups and if 2 to 3 players couldn't kill you before because of shields they definitely will be able to now without a mantis. The mirrored ship fights can not be ignored it's literally the thing that people have an issue with in the old flight model and its an awful idea for CIG to think less in depth about how groups or solo players will fight in mirrored builds. Nobody in the old flight model are complaining about how ships faster than the one they are using is getting away from them because of the speeds they are complaining about how identical ships interact against eachother. If you use a ship that's less maneuverable and stay in the fight against a light fighter you generally just lose. Mirror builds need to be figured out because noone is going to change their ship composition aside from the meta. If the hornet is the meta that's all you are going to see. The people who aren't good will die no matter what and will only be compounded by the fact they chose a non meta ship.

But everyone at the top level is complaining about how easy it is to run away in the old flight model. Just a simple tri chord and you are out of the fight instantly which was total cheese. And it’s not like they are ignoring the 1v1 mechanics for MM they literally said that they are still working on it. Also if the person being chased isn’t competent then that’s on them!!! You want the game to do it for them? With a mantis it has to be a planned attack and pirates have to come prepared, which is intended gameplay, it’s not like a random gank is it!

@@0Metatron part of why that trichord away is so strong right now is because they have completely screwed up some ships like the hornets ghost emission size plus the hornets broken forward gs or the broken gs of the cuttyblue

C2 vs 3 pirates situation was a bad demonstration Community is dumping the features and improvment before have been tested and combat approuved. Try to change their mind No offens ! It should be better to show an " escape situation" on a "outpost" for exemple. With full speed + full shield triangle mannagement + Shield power up back or left or right side + evasive manoeuvers + energy (speed) mannagements. Just for check "how many time", in a very very very bad situation, the "solo player" can move in a safe area or not. Thanks for your videos, i know it required work ! I would like youtuber shows more "solutions" for confort the player on the next update.... Too many players "mediatically" are crying after MM and PvP part because they are simple civilian / solo / starfield player and doesn try to have a situation awareness !

Everyone doing these tests are avoiding outposts and landing zones. They just hand wave and say, "You just die like in 3.22." Which is entirely not true.
