I too was shocked at how well this removed fat! I wouldn’t have guessed it would have been effective at that. However I am most impressed with your smart use of the coffee filter and the homemade funnel which fits PERFECTLY. I just skim with my ladle, however this does of course cause me to lose more liquid, and probably also not effectively remove all the scum. Looks like this was a worthy purchase!

Thanks Eric. I can't number the times I used that coffee filter down through the years. And that skimmer works great. It's not very often I find something that exceeds expectations, but these two do. And, by the way, most of my funnels are tops of bottles or jars. -Dennis

A handy looking tool Dennis! I'm thinking it might also be quite useful to scoop off the foamy starch layer that forms when boiling potatoes.
