You remind me of my self... getting excited! Seems like I pray for my power to go out so I can run the generator! I have the same issue with my 50 amp cable with the tire in the way. Try putting the cable between the frame and backside of tire. I also bought a 50 amp surge adapter to plug in generator and that gave me more clearance for the heavy duty cable. Great video!!

I just purchased same WGEN 12000, pending delivery. Just disappointed that Westinghouse did not take into account the 50amp plug over the tire?!? Wondering if plugs on panel can be switched around to make more room for 50 amp cable plug?
@tienanddaniela2 жыл бұрын
Don't be disappointed! It's awesome generator for sure. In term of the 50amp plug, you can feed the plug from behind the tire if it gives you issue. We had an issue at first but then toward the end we realized you can feed it behind the tire.

You have to exercise the generator every few months. If they sit unused for months on end they may not start when you actually need it. Plus it needs to be broken in properly. Change the oil after breaking it in.

We have a smaller size Westinghouse (WGen5300DFV) and it gets pulled out every month for a test run (about an hour). Have it on my calendar, first weekend of every month. Every few months or so, we even hook it up to the house just to be sure there are no hiccups during an actual emergency. It takes no time at all and we get a good peace of mind knowing everything works. YES, do a break-in and keep up with manufacturer’s recommended maintenance (at the very least). This is an investment that will last you a long time if you do it correctly, right from the start. Good on you guys!!! 👍🏼👍🏼

Questions: Is there an oil drain tube for draining used oil out easily without a mess? Does this have a manual choke? Why is the L14-30R breaker look different? I wish the multimeter LCD screen on these had "wattage usage" reading Like others mentioned the position of the 50A plug is super inconvenient. I have a Pulsar 12KW generator that they have corrected this issue by moving the 50A plug to the left side of the panel.

If you ever use gasoline take my advice… turn off fuel valve and run it until it dies. Empty the tank completely of fuel when you store it. Remove carb bowl nut and drain that of fuel too. You’ll make it last much longer. I test mine every 8 months or so. Starts on first pull. Propane is great, but you’re gonna need more than one of those tanks probably like four of them

@tienanddaniela2 жыл бұрын
That's good to know. Thank you!
@niaralosusa Жыл бұрын
@@poolfixer ...these generators run at about 0.67 gallons of propane per hour so 60 gallons will give you ~89 hours of run time. If you are talking about two 30 POUND tanks, then you are looking at about 7 gallons of propane (per tank) and a run time of ~20 hours using both tanks. I believe the manufacturers typically state that these run times are at 50% load so if your load is greater than that, you will use more fuel.
