Hi. Just found your YT vid on the cargo trailer, we got some great ideas. Question on this going through the floor -- did you put something over the end of the hose so that mice or bugs won't come in?

If you insulate the hose you will decrease the indoor temperature even more. The hot exhaust hose ejects warm air into the room. I have a single hose air conditioner with a 15' hose on it and I had the same problem and you with it not making much of a difference but when I covered the hose with layers of towels where it's barely warm to the touch it made a nice difference. This also works with dual hose systems too.

G'day, did the same thing here in Australia. Gets hot Here mate. Works like a little ripper. Did a quick job that works like a charm. Two cereal boxes strapped to the side of the portable ac. Two hoses from the window to the cereal boxes. A bit of the old sticky tape to keep the boxes in place and suction does the rest. Cool now. 😎😎😎

Make a boc on the front of the trailer..and run a duct into the trailer for the cold air only..and a hole in the aircon box for the exhaust duct..less noise inside the trailer and it will be all positive air pressure inside..the aircon will just keep on running though..not really a problem..

In theory, if they go outside of a building the exhaust should be on top. Heat rises. We exhausted ours down through the floor of the RV so it's a bit of a different setup.

Does the single hose one pulls air from outdoors or keeps recycling the same air from inside the room over and over again?

It keeps recycling the air.

No it pulls air from outside it does not keep recycling the air. It uses air from outside to cool off the compressor and then blows the now heated air out the window while blowing cool air into the room. So the air has to come from somewhere, you can't just blow air out and blow air in without drawing in air from outside, unless you are God and can create air on the spot. It doesn't matter it's coming from a crack in the door or crack in the wall somewhere and somehow it is pulling air in from outside, otherwise it wouldn't be able to blow air outside. Imagine trying to suck air out the opening of an empty water bottle without first cutting the hole somewhere else in the bottle, it wouldn't work you would just collapse the bottle. Because almost no room is airtight, but if your room was 100% airtight the unit wouldn't work.

@@strawtoro damn, it's been a long time, but the heat is coming again. I'm just not sure what to use cover the condenser intake part of the AC and a sir tube in a way that's fits and is practical to use.

I had one of the single hose a/c units in a tent for testing, it nearly imploded.

Dual hose is the way to go. Unfortunately these units are a pain in the ass with the hoses. The BEST option is a mini split.

From what I hear dual holes versus single hose shouldn't matter at all they both have their downsides and upsides. The only thing that should actually matter is their sacc (seasonally adjusted cooling capacity) BTUs which also takes into account the advantages and disadvantage of single or dual hose so the only thing that should matter is your sacc BTUs I think as dumb as it sounds you simply used a 5,000 BTU at first and then used like a 10,000 or 14,000.

while SACC matters, outside temps also matter a lot. if negative air pressure keeps pulling 40°C air from outside, it will work much harder than if it was just cooling the already cold air in the room.

Those portables are bad had 2 in work and were dual hose. They are expensive, not good at air conditioning, and they lasted 2 years ran continusly.

We haven't had those issues at all and we are going on year 2 of using it. It's worked well in our cargo trailer conversion.
