I'll be honest chasing a relatively small, agile subject like this, and shooting an action sport gopro is much better imo, with it's stab. You have to be IN the action, which often means close to the subject. Wave also amazing that slowmo footage is unbeatable.

My question is what camera set up would you recommend stepping up to if we wanna do more professional shoots, but don't have 6k to drop on a Komodo? I read somewhere cameras without IBIS work better, not sure if that's true from your experience. Is there a particular dslr or mirrorless camera body you would recommend. Thanks.

Just 3 things because I can't bring myself to NOT care entirely, but I'm not going to make it a wall of text like I usually do. 1. You need to shoot with an open shutter at higher frame rates (48+) if you intend to use it in real-time at all. 50 played back at 50 needs to be 1/50th (or 1/60th for 60hz powerline compatibility) otherwise there isn't enough motion blur. Motion blur does NOT scale with frame rate as the stupid 180 rule suggests. It's a static 1/40th to 1/60th for natural motion blur, or matching the frame rate when above 60fps. 2. When mixing real-speed timelines (IE the Sony 24fps footage in this 30fps video) you're gonna get judder due to dropped frames and messed up timings unless you either A. Use a pulldown algorithm or manually create/order duplicate frames into a pulldown yourself, or B. use only finalized footage that is a direct multiple of your final timeline. So if you're upload is gonna be 30p, use only 30, 60, or 120 if you're going to let it automatically drop frames for the final playback. 3. As alluded to in 1, and despite this not being a subject of note due to THIS video, you can use any frame rate in any country, as long as you compensate using the shutter speed so that it matches the power line frequency and you don't get artificial lights flickering. Basically, EITHER the frame rate or shutter has to match an even multiple of the PL-freq. For NTSC that's 30, 60, or 120 with any shutter speed, or 25, 50, and 100 with 1/30th, 1/40th, 1/60th, or 1/120th(not 1/125th) only. For PAL, that's 25, 50, and 100 with any shutter speed, or 24, 30, and 60 with 1/25, 1/50th, or 1/100th shutter speed. Which means that the best-looking universal options are 25p-1/40th, 30p-1/50th, and 50p-1/60th for real-time playback. And since low frame rates are trash, that pretty much means the 30 and 50 options are ideal, with 50 being the single most versatile since you can drop half the frames for cinematics, speed ramp or use it as slow mo, or just run it at the full rate for buttery smoothness of "real life" vlog style content.

Its everything i want to be doing happening without me , at least it's happening. shows i was thinking right at least. I was becoming a huge fan of FX6 lately even though i can't afford it or a rig to fly it anymore. Too much hype on the bmpcc and komodo. they are really expensive for what they are. fugifilm xt3 for ligher setups like 4 inch ducted x8 and Sony FX6 instead of komodo for a flying brick, cheaper and then you have more money to spend on the lens. btw i learn all that stuff in a few weeks for no reason, you can hire me if you want and point me in another direction. sometimes i can be more objective cuz i don't own any nice equipment lol. thanks for the gopro settings, i finally got my hands on a 9 with no rear screen for the low. i did all the research and gopro 9 with broken screen converted to naked gopro for 150 is probably the best bang for buck camera in the world. if i had commercial opportunity there would be more bang cuz more bucks, lol

Cameras are good. But the way and style that yall chase the bikes are all wrong. You have to ride to be able to know how to chase correctly. You gotta know where there gonna be before they even get there. My opinion I've rode & raced my whole life. Ive been into fpv for the last 4 years.

Would love to see some examples of what you would consider the proper way of chasing Moto. I thought he did a great job of keeping them framed throughout the routes, especially with the FX6
@LeoLeo-pb2yq3 жыл бұрын
@@RossHasAdrone that is the problem. Giving an excuse for a less dynamic/enjoyable framing or chase/trajectory, simply because the camera is bigger. Why not make a proper lightweight setup and select lighter cameras/lenses, or at least try to reduce the AUW as much as possible to get closer to lighter gopro rigs in regards of flight feel? There are plenty naked setups out there! Why give excuse to those cameras for the lack of reelsteady-like stabilisation? This trend with heavy x8 setups is a complete misdirection in my opinion, a good way to sell more motors and escs for sure, but lightweight 9" x4 will outperform 8" x8 while being a lot lighter. And lighter means less inertia - meaning you don't have to tilt your rig so hard to try and keep the subject in the frame
@RossHasAdrone3 жыл бұрын
@@LeoLeo-pb2yq none of the directors I work with have ever asked for a black magic, I’ve asked them what they think of using one and they mostly laugh (i assume you’re talking about the naked black magic cameras?) also, where did I make an excuse? Regarding stabilization, that’s such a tired feel.. also all the directors I work with want to have the raw footage over a stabilized export. To each their own I suppose 🤷🏻♂️

@kendall60303 жыл бұрын
A lot to learn here. I am curious as to why there are rare shots from the front of the bikes as well as from the inside of the curves/corners? I understand it would be difficult to fly in reverse. Maybe it's just not possible. Maybe those shots don't translate into something worthwhile. That's why I though I'd ask. Thank you.
@SkyCandyVisuals3 жыл бұрын
you can put the camera on the rear of the drone and fly ahead of the bikes to get that kind of shot. but its hard to know if your leaving them or going to slow so thats prob the reason for them being short or limited. you can also put two cameras on a drone and literally fly it backwards but its easier said than done. and when using those more expensive cameras I'm sure it's not worth the risk. with the hero 10 though definitely doable.
@NerdBirdFPV3 жыл бұрын
I fly backwards all the time and have tried to incorporate it with the chasing, it's definitely achievable with practice. I'm new to the chasing, but not new to reverse flying so hoping to make it work.
