Testing Skoda cars 1982

Following on the 'Production of Skoda cars 1982' is this film about how the Skoda 105/120/Garde (Rapid) is developed, tested, and produced in 1982. Stress tests, durability tests, brake tests, crash tests, its all there. With that some very rare footage of the car that Jaroslav Kindl had designed, before the Favorit was designed and produced.

Nice and rare video, very clear English- easy to understand! I drive a 1981 Skoda 120LS, MkI (with four round headlights), banana colour. It's my everyday (and only) car, for winter and summer, very reliable, no rust, such a good quality I didnt expect:))

Also, saying that the design is from Bertone did help the volume sales. This isn't the first time that a car company delivers their own designs to Italian style companies. BMC made it all the time during the 50's and 60's with great success too!!

By the way, the new car showed in the video, is that the Favorit?! It definitely wasn't a rear engine car...!

I was trying to seek in Google for pictures of this car but I've only found some prototypes of the Favorite back in 1983. My suspicious is that the Czechs designers have made de basic line of what would become the Favorit, and then they give the project to the Italians in Bertone so they could do some tweaks to make him more western-consumers design friendly.

Great video!! I'm going to Czech Republic next February to make Erasmus, in Ostrava. I'm forward too look for some used Skoda I can bring back home. My favourite are 110r or a Rapid, but I would be happy with an old 120 saloon...! Can anyone give me some advices about these cars, like maladies that I should be aware?! All the help is welcome!!

@discocreator76, Skodas had a rather good opinion. Don't judge the whole car make on the basis of one car. My friend owned an Opela Astra and it was also a disaster, although Opel make good cars. Of course, Skoda was not as good as Opel, but in a communist country they had less money to develop their cars and they had to produce'em very cheaply. Skodas had projects in 1970's which could rival with BMW as an example. unfortunately, No one in Czechoslovakia was interested in producing such cars

Ford Flatheads had 3 main crank bearings. So, the Rapid 130 has 3 main bearings. Insufficent for higher horespower. The thrust bearings should be American style as well. Yes, Skoda is a great concept, but it is too dangerous for modern traffic. But with a full safety cage, who knows.

při pohledu a tato videa(ještě Production od Škoda cars..) si sám sobě snažím vsugerovat myšlenku, že ryhle škodovky bývaly před 30 lety rychlými, bezpečnými a moderními vozy ..moc mě to nejde :-)))

ano. a fungovali pred 15 rokmi.. teraz kazdy kreten co ich vlastni, tak len spomaluje premavku.. lebo ked ides viacej ako 60, tak to dost huci a papa.
