If you're looking for something similar to the gel dots in this video, try using museum wax. That stuff works phenomenally well for holding warhammer minis down while airbrushing them. And you can reuse it a bunch to.

I Could never get the museum wax to work but that's probably because i live in a hot climate. They do also make museum putty and that stuff works great. It's softer then bluetak but sticks better and stays together better doesn't leave much behind.

Bought that exact scriber set off Amazon. Shaped and sharpened the scribers to a mirror finish. They work like beautifully. I use the same technique as sharpening chisels and blades for a hand plane I learned here on KZbin. While it is some work I enjoy making and modifying my own hobby tools; so I found the process meditative and quite fulfilling. I also added a splash of paint and higher vis label to help identify them more readily.

I bought a big pack of glue dots several years ago that seem similar to the sticky pads you tried. The glue dots aren't as easy to re-use, but if you're careful not to get them wadded up you can use them a few times before they lose their stickiness (of course as with anything if the sticky side is exposed an you paint over it it won't stick to anything any more.)

I’ve bought several of the sluban mechs off of Temu and I have been extremely impressed with the quality and fit of them. You just kinda got to pick and choose with Temu. I’ve had to find ways to cut corners with kids in college and high school and Temu has come in handy.

Scotch makes re-useable acrylic tape tabs like what you showed. I find it at Hobby Lobby or Walmart where they keep the glue and tape normally. Duck also makes a 'nano grab' acrylic tape that comes on a roll; notably the packaging says you can wash and re-use it unlike other acrylic gel tapes. I found this in Walmart's tape and glue aisle by the paint and tools department

Thank you for doing this! Also thank you for pointing out the supplies & good alternatives/better ones to try. A lot of these are perfect pre-planning things I was just about to look into for new projects, especially after I spilled tamiya paint on the carpet instead of in what was my normal painting room. And yeah, tend to agree on Temu, diff reasons. But once those are sorted, hopefully the rest can be ironed out too to reduce annoyances on consumers. Otherwise, yeah. Amazon Prime still gets massive thumbs up from me as a great place. I have zero complaints about them RN. Only praise. No name lego on Amazon is growing, but for that you still gotta go to ali or Weibo for the same Temu has. There are other buildingblock sites too, but most vary in price. Some gouge, some don't. Usually you'll find any of the MOCs or side things for anywhere from 20-40, anything more than that is gouging. Most to near all of the "bot" types, you can find for 20-25. Like that red Samurai I've seen for roughly 20 on those(not Temu).

That panel liner you showed worked great after I honed them on a wet stone like you would sharpen a wood chisel an they work fantastic as a scribe an also as a small chisel to shave off raised injector marks in tight places .

My brother bought that "gundam" brick build model on temu to. First one was missing 1 bag of parts and had 1 bag twice, second order had 2 bags of parts missing: combined both sets for 1 complete model. Sticker sheet was both times bend in half across the stickers causing damage lines. Model is fragile, parts tend to fall of and superglued some of it. He is now building a stand for it since it is not really stable standing on its own. It is however a nice model.

As for the gel dots, I got the idea from Mythbusters to use butyl sealant to hold parts and miniatures down. Should be available at the orange monstrosity (Home Depot). You'll get more in the roll than you'll ever need. It's VERY sticky so you don't need much.

I buy the mini dollhouse models, the bookend models and they are great plus they sell Hobby Mio paints which is a plus.I even get the huge lot for those plastic Droppers and metal clip that can be magnetic and also super detail brushes. So many great products also I get for my kitchen stuff to. I have bought some tools like the mini screw driver kit those are great. I also bought this Hoodie and fits just great and warm as toast as well. I been buying since they started up and so far they have yet to screw me unlike ALiexpress. I order Hobby Mio paints from them but they gave me car wash instead. It was a bit of a pain but I got my money back. I am hoping to buy the Hobby Mio tool set kits for this christmas which I hope they don't screw me out of it.

In late June or early July, news hit about Amazon launching a storefront to compete with Temu and Shein (like Temu/Wish but for women's clothes). The articles just mentioned clothing and home products so far, no telling what will end up there. No launch date yet, only that Amazon is taking applications from Chinese sellers for the service. If nothing else, it should be a less concerning way to check out some of these Temu products.

Your honesty and integrity are most appreciated. Temu is a real hit-or-miss. Their idea of 'packaging' is a plastic bag from China. Goods often arrive crushed. Don't buy their little clear plastic mixing cups, either. They all have those 3 or 4 interior plastic molding/stabilizing webs that make them unusable for mixing paints.

A lot of people in my modeling group ask about temu. Tbh, paint brushes seem to be the money saver. 2 of the people in my group buy the same brand brushes I had purchased at my hobby shop (now deceased) and now on amazon for a third the cost. I have yet to do this so I am not speaking from experience here. My issue with them is the wait time. Amazon takes a week. Temu takes a month.

Everything amazon sells is cheap Chinese crap for the most part so why not get it cheaper? I use TEMU quite a bit. But, I order off my PC, not my phone so I don't get crazy notifications all the time. There have been some duds, but for the most part the items were quite acceptable. If you biggest beef is the amount of notifications versus the actual products, order off your PC.

Temu ... Most of their products are shit, and there's a lot of shady marketing. So read the description on the products carefully. But if you need things like cotton swabs, small containers to mix paint in, stuff like that Temu is great. These things just have to work once. Since I dont have Amazon in my country, I seldom use it. Shipping cost way too much. 15-30$ and then it takes 3-4 weeks to get here. And that's the cheapest option. If I want cheap stuff I use temu for the free shipping. If I want expensive stuff, I can usually find it at around the same price on a website from my own country when I include shipping, and I will have it 2 days after.

It's a f**kload easier to do returns on Amazon and get your money back, rather than a coupon for future orders. It's almost always faster shipping from Amazon, and much more easily trackable. I get a notification it shipped from Temu and a month later it randomly shows up, or it never shows up. Once, Temu asked me to prove my package never showed up so I took a picture of my empty mailbox. 😂

But are a 1000 percent recommend Temu. Turn your notifications off no big deal. In most of the stuff on Amazon comes from Temu. Just take your time and look through the sellers

I've got a few things off wish/temu they're basically the same thing, and eventually if temu's rep gets battered enough they'll just rebrand again. One is a lego Wall-E. It's mostly fine, the instructions were easy enough to follow, everything fits together, and the only loose joint is the neck ball joint, which arguably is trying support quite a bit of mass. A touch of future polish sitffened it up fine. On is a gundam style figure like the one you got, it's fine for the price, and a parrot thing that you have several options of what to build. DO NOT USE YOUR ACTUAL CC WITH TEMU. Use a temporary restricted card if your cc company lets you make those, or paypal.

Another reason why people shouldn’t shop at Temu: The use a loophole in international law that forces the US to foot the bill for shipping (because China claims it is a third world country and shouldn’t have to pay shipping fees). That’s how they can afford to send such inexpensive products overseas without charging for shipping. So the more you buy from Temu, the more likely it is you are hurting other hobby brands.

@@Steve_8341 Don't use use lacquer thinner. Is that what in my country (UK) is called cellulose thinners. Cellulose is a bit hot to be fair and back in the mid 80's i used it with Tamiya and Humberol paints but had to stop using it as the smell is too much.
