Correct push-up form: i*i ,*, Their push-up form: ,-*-,
@RainMakeR_Workshop4 жыл бұрын
The correct push-up form changes depending on what part you wan to target. Classic push-up, Wide push-up, Diamond push-up, Staggered push-up, Reverse push-up, Tricep extension push-up, Forearm push-up, Stacked push-up, T push-up, Tandem push-up, Russian push-up, Archer push-up, Hindu push-up, Spider-man push-up, Superman push-up... The list goes on. Both i*i ,*, and ,-*-, can be the correct form, depending what you're going for. I won't disagree that they had bad form, but you're wrong about what determines good form.

@@RainMakeR_Workshop Please dont do wide pushups, what you do stand to gain youll most likely end up damagin your tendon in your shoulder due to the pinching motion
@RainMakeR_Workshop4 жыл бұрын
Salad tell you what, I’ll believe you as soon as every gym get rid of their chest fly machine. Because those things have you in an even wider position. I don’t deny that it “can” be dangerous. When done incorrectly. But it isn’t dangerous in of itself. But hey, maybe every professional trainer I’ve ever had, my physiotherapist and all of the professional coaches in KZbin are wrong? (Seriously the majority of vids of wide push-up are on how to do them, I can’t find ONE saying don’t). But by all means provide a credible peer reviewed paper on the subject. Blog posts, forum posts and magazine articles don’t count.
@salad57684 жыл бұрын
@@RainMakeR_Workshop Im not trying to argue that they shouldnt be done at all, perhaps i projected my personal concerns a bit. Overall though, proper form can minimize injury. I dont deny they cant be dont properly and they absolutely have their benefits but i would try to train those muscles areas through alternate means. Heres a decent video covering proper form where they also explain the motion of the wide pushup and how it can pinch you. kzbin.info/www/bejne/h6i3iGp6jaeqa9k Stay safe exercising brother
@RainMakeR_Workshop4 жыл бұрын
@@salad5768 You literally said "Don't do wide push-ups". It may not be what you intended, but you certainly did argue that they shouldn't be done at all. Almost every weighted exercise has risks. A basic bench-press can cause pinching in the shoulder, bicep curls can cause elbow pain, deadlifts can strain your lower back. But each of those exercises can be done without injury, if done correctly. And the Deadlift is WAAAAAAAAAAAAY more dangerous than a wide push-up.

@ruairimasun10737 жыл бұрын

@Megidramon7 жыл бұрын
The placement of your hands changes the kind of push-ups you do. There are wide arm push-ups, close hand push-ups(aka nipple push-ups or PRT push-ups in the army), shoulder width push-ups(aka high-school push-ups), diamond push-ups (which are the second most difficult in my opinion), reverse grip push-ups (where point your fingers toward your feet(also the most difficult ones)), and the backwards push-ups (where you count how many times you do a full rotation from down to up, not up to down(this type can also be mixed with the other types to make them more intense)). Each different kind of push-up you do changes the muscle group you are working in your arms. So, for example, Jason said that he felt it mostly in his forearms, because he most likely did (without knowing it) a combination of shoulder width and wide arm, whereas Brian, who felt it mostly in his triceps and biceps, most likely did a combination of wide arm and close hand.

More likely due to their lack of increase in muscle mass. Plus the final measurement was taken after they pumped blood into the muscle so there should be a slight increase anyway. Even if you do everything perfectly with nutrition and resistance exercise, the most you can legitimately gain in muscle alone (all of the body combined) is maybe 1lb. Unless you involve some form of outside component.

CrimsonKumiho the workout looks to be more tuned to definition, and hey their max doubled but that might be just getting used to the motion.
@ENomad8 жыл бұрын
Connor Whitehead Nah. Definition is determined by the amount of fat between the muscle tissue and skin. This program is more about building endurance of the muscles associated with the exercise. Or to put it another way, their bodies got better at doing push ups.

For anyone wondering, this builds up type 1 muscle fibers which are endurance based and don't grow in size as much as type 2, which are used for heavy weights for short times. That's why the muscle size gains were underwhelming. Me personally I love this as I am training to get into the army and I can already see a huge difference in how many I can do as I just started week 2. Thanks for making this video guys it's a great workout routine.

The only part that i think you guys messed up big time is the measurements. During the first pushup test you guys took measurements before. On the second pushup test after 2 weeks you guys took the measurements after your pushup test which is a mistake because your muscles swell up after working out. To keep the results accurate you needed to measure your chest and biceps before your second pushup test. Anyways great video, it definetly works as your pushup max increased! Im a big fan but I just wanted to point that out thanks.

no it isnt if you are a beginner and never really worked out then about 90% of the Strength increase that you get in your first month of training is because of better form and new neurons forming in your brain that help you to use your muscle the way it was intended by nature and genetics. But sure you are right about 10% of their progress comes from musclegain. I would love to try this out but i dont want to miss 2 weeks of boxing practice and you really cant do anything else espacially not boxing whilst commiting to something like that.

It’s not the bicep that is important in a push-up, it’s the tricep. Even then it isn’t alone, depending on how bad your form is, your shoulder and shoulder joint becomes much more prominent (they both had their elbows out to the side, so it’s safe to assume bad form even when not looking at their lower body and how far down they go), and then your chest or pectorals are always used (although their use can be minimised with the tricep having an increased load). On top of that, a strong core, back (lower back) and glutes are important for stability and proper form. FYI proper form is tensing your core, keeping your back straight and tense your glutes too. Keep your elbows tucked in to your sides (you can flare them anywhere between there and 45 degrees from your body to keep it from putting too much pressure on your shoulder joints), the further from your body, the less your triceps are incorporated. Stay steady the whole motion: move downwards until your chest touches the floor but DO NOT lay there or rest your weight on the floor. Stay there for a moment (around a second is good) so you aren’t using the momentum to carry you up, maximising the workout and gains. Push to full extension. NEVER drop your hips. It can make your lower back vulnerable and cause it to be sore, aching etc. If you need it simplified, do angled pushups (these will work the lower pectoral) or box pushups (knees to the ground, reduces necessity for stability hence glutes, ankles (calves) and abs aren’t needing much focus as well as lowered load (lower body isn’t being completely carried anymore).

There's no such thing as proper form. Hand position can be whatever you want. As long as your elbows are not a straight line coming off from your shoulders, it's fine. And even then it's fine since you just put the emphasis on your delts and chest. And technically your arms and shoulder joints don't suffer until your elbows raise above your shoulder line. In otherwords, shut the fuck up.

Working out doesn't have to be everyday, and it certainly should not be more than an hour, or an hour and a half max. If you guys are interested in getting fit, try doing high intensity interval cardio. All you have to invest in the beginning is buy a jump rope. In the beginning try 30 secs of jumping and 20 secs of rest and do that for 4 mins. By the third set you will be sweating. If you do that for half hour, consistently you will see results. Use the 30 mins left to do push ups and squats. I do this every other day, one day of work out one day of rest. You can get pretty fit and good looking (not that you guys are not) for investing relatively $8 for jump rope and one hour of your time every other day. Of course, this also goes with what you're eating as well.

Biggest problem with this experiment: Your first measurements was done before the exercise, the last one was done after the exercise. It's well known that working out pushes blood to the muscles and increases their size for a while.

Those aren't proper push-ups though! Your arms should be almost glued to your side, and your chin should touch the ground on every rep. still do the 90° angles on the arm, but your arms should be to your side and not outwards.

+The Modern Rogue I wouldn't say your arms should be glued to your sides, but if you want more tricep work, then you could do that. But your arms shouldn't be as flared out as they were. I am pretty strict about doing my push-ups, so I go all the way down to my chest which is further than 90 degrees. But great work :D
@brendan85938 жыл бұрын
actually, no. " Your arms should be almost glued to your side" that's just a different way of doing push ups, the way you describe it, it's focussed more on your triceps, while if you put your hands out wider its more chest. Your Chin also doesn't have to touch the ground, it should but a fists' height away from the ground, + -

All the way down. Another tip is having your chin up so you're not restricting airflow. Chin up back straight, all the way down. The distance between your hands changes what muscles you are working out. The wider the stance, the less distance you need to cover to go all the way down.
