@@shaunaburton7136 My wife and I had our oven break a few months ago. It hasn't been easy, but between an Instant Pot and an Air fryer, that's mostly all we've used to cook. Air fryer is totally worth it and it's been easily our most used item in the kitchen since our oven fiasco. @@SauceStache You can also use a rice cooker to steam vegetables and macaroni( just don't leave the lid closed tight, ask me how I know, lol)and depending on the brand you can also cook soups, stews and chili. They are really useful I bought my first one in 1999 after falling asleep before going to my 2nd job. I burned the rice and pot That was a rival, it shuts off automatically and I still have it. I also have a bigger B&D I got for $5.00. It goes to warm when it's done. I LOVE indian food so I cook a lot of rice. Whatever brand you buy is a worthy investment. With all of the doom and gloom talk in the media about possible food shortages my 88 year old mother asked me to look up WWII faux meat recipes today. Mom thought it would be a good idea to see what people did back in the 1940s to approximate meat dishes. Mom told me to check recipes from England first because they evidently had more severe and longer rationing than the US. I already found some cool plant based sausage recipes. Mom has me looking for recipes to make with shelf stable foods. I found sausage patty recipes that look great, ones you can make with no egg binder if you use aquafaba from canned chickpeas. Anyway, I think it would be cool and perhaps timely if you'd do a series of faux meat recipes that rely almost completely on shelf stable, easy to source and store pantry items. We might actually need these, hope not but could happen. I'm going to try making apple, maple, sage sausage. I'm going to use some freeze dried apples slices I bought, maple syrup, poultry seasoning, chick-un, sage, black pepper, lentils, oatmeal, a high fiber nutty type cereal and coconut oil. I will wrap and steam some, and then pan fry some and air fry some to see what's best. If they're not moist enough I might try this method I saw where you fry them then simmer them in a seasoned liquid, then fry again. I'm excited to visit my mom so we can create some of our own pandemic "food shortage" foods. It will be a fun project and give Mom peace of mind, she's one of those people that feels as if she has to have meat of some type daily. Anyway, I think now might be a good time for you to try putting the Stache spin on WWII no meat recipes. That's what I'd like to see. No meat dishes without your repertoire of modern ingredients. Most households are like my mom's and aren't going to have methylcellulose, mushroom powder, pea protein, etc. in their pantries (they should but they won't), they will have flour, cornstarch, etc.. I think a series of recipes from you with only common pantry items would be great at this point in time. Maybe alternate the videos between cool tick tock foods and recreations of world war II survival dishes. I'll watch whatever you post even if you don't take my suggestion at all. I'll love and appreciate you anyway!♥️

Hello! I love your videos. I think the accidentally vegan sweet chili Doritos could be great on these too!

Really enjoyed these! Looking forward to trying them. You kinda glossed over the tofu though. The Hodo firm stuff is actually "super firm" -- sometimes labeled as "high protein" -- it's NOT "firm." (No clue why they label it as "firm"; it's NOT.)

1:10 At that point I understood what my five-spice-flavoured dishes were missing: some freshness from the ginger! Will definitely be adding some next time I make five-spice anything (seitan, tofu, veggies...)

Just tried to make the tofu-salmon but it didn't work out at all: the tofu was still really tofu-ish and didn't resemble salmon at all. Since i didn't have at home i didn't use beetroot powder, and used teriyaki instead of soy. Might that do such a difference?

The apple fries being better with sugar and cinnamon, I was thinking the same. Like doing apple pie fries. Maybe dip the apples in a sweetened sugar cinnamon batter? 🤔

the apple thing; how about the same thing but ditch the salt for a mix of a bit of sugar and apple pie spice.

It's interesting that you are calling the tofu you found "weird". That looks pretty much like the standard tofu we can buy here in Germany 😉 (I have always wondered, if the tofu you can buy in the US is different from ours. So I guess that confirms it 😊)

Is it possible to make a meat texture from bamboo shoots? Would love to see you do this. I love when you make meat like textures with less processed (tvp) ingredients.

Looove the idea of answering to other popular videos. I know it’s a bit ridiculous but it sometimes feels like a big KZbin cooking family…
