With all of the doom and gloom talk in the media about possible food shortages my 88 year old mother asked me to look up WWII faux meat recipes today. Mom thought it would be a good idea to see what people did back in the 1940s to approximate meat dishes. Mom told me to check recipes from England first because they evidently had more severe and longer rationing than the US. I already found some cool plant based sausage recipes. Mom has me looking for recipes to make with shelf stable foods. I found sausage patty recipes that look great, ones you can make with no egg binder if you use aquafaba from canned chickpeas. Anyway, I think it would be cool and perhaps timely if you'd do a series of faux meat recipes that rely almost completely on shelf stable, easy to source and store pantry items. We might actually need these, hope not but could happen. I'm going to try making apple, maple, sage sausage. I'm going to use some freeze dried apples slices I bought, maple syrup, poultry seasoning, chick-un, sage, black pepper, lentils, oatmeal, a high fiber nutty type cereal and coconut oil. I will wrap and steam some, and then pan fry some and air fry some to see what's best. If they're not moist enough I might try this method I saw where you fry them then simmer them in a seasoned liquid, then fry again. I'm excited to visit my mom so we can create some of our own pandemic "food shortage" foods. It will be a fun project and give Mom peace of mind, she's one of those people that feels as if she has to have meat of some type daily. Anyway, I think now might be a good time for you to try putting the Stache spin on WWII no meat recipes. That's what I'd like to see. No meat dishes without your repertoire of modern ingredients. Most households are like my mom's and aren't going to have methylcellulose, mushroom powder, pea protein, etc. in their pantries (they should but they won't), they will have flour, cornstarch, etc.. I think a series of recipes from you with only common pantry items would be great at this point in time. Maybe alternate the videos between cool tick tock foods and recreations of world war II survival dishes. I'll watch whatever you post even if you don't take my suggestion at all. I'll love and appreciate you anyway!♥️
